Awful customer service
Awful customer service. They just don’t reply. I I’ve been told that I’ve got to pay customs import fees of £65 so UPS are holding my parcel. I’ve paid for trainers that I haven’t got and the Customer Services are not replying to me, it’s been 4 weeks. AVOID

Helpful customer service (Europe)
I ordered and returned a pair of shoes online. Although the shoes weren't the right fit (slightly narrower than the pair of Altra Lone Peaks I already own and love), the customer service I received was excellent in comparison to other online shoe purchases made online. Their European Distributor (FiloBlu) helped me with my return. When I messed it up online, they sorted by email and got me the paperwork I needed to return free of charge via UPS.

Timp 5 Gore-Tex Man
In October 2025 I bought Timp 5 Gore-Tex Man and they literally only lasted 3 months before they started to split at the sides which made them useless. For the very expensive price I would have expected them to last a lot longer.

If it could get 0 it would. I love Altra running shoes but would absolutely never purchase form them directly ever again. I am also no considering whether I purchase from them again anyway as I don't wish to support such a company. I cancelled my order within 24 hours, but their supply chain meant I had to let them ship the order after that and await arrival to decline the order at the door, they confirmed this occurred. Thus ending my contract with them, however, they still have not issued a refund and haven't responded to my emails to pursue this. I am now going to have to report them and contact my bank to retrieve this money. An order cancellation is a legal obligation and should not incur such time investment from a customer.

I haven't had any problems with my order. I do understand that people would encounter issues returning them especially since their european distribution (filoblu) is in Italy and it wouldnt be like amazon for convenience (but amazon are far too big so give other e commerce a chance!) and comms would be fragmented! I get paying for delivery would cost a-lot which isn't fair since shoes need to fit fortunately I am loyal to the brand and i knew my fit having purchased two pairs of these last time for running at events and training. The items arrived in a nice solid cardboard box and sealed with filoblu (the distributors for high end brands assos etc) tape. I feel bad people have had poor Altra “experience” (one of their trainers is called this 😀 but I am pleased. Tracked by UPS so I knew where my box was france…uk…to the land of the geordies. Pleased. Still doesnt hide the fact average scores is less than 2 oof!

Tight shoes. Paid returns from UK
I bought a pair of Altra running trainers thinking they will be more comfortable, but they feel very tight. I have to return them from UK to Italy at my expense. All in all, poor service for UK.

Relieved to have a positive experience
I'm also surprised to see so many bad reviews. I was really worried as I only saw them after placing my order (not very smart I know). However I'm pleased to say that my order took exactly one week to arrive to me in the UK and was exactly what I'd ordered. So based on that, I would order again, though with a bit of caution given the experience of others on here.

I ordered a pair of shoes, they were sent to the wrong address twice which took months, and their customer service department never replied to my refund request. Avoid at all costs.

Dirt and moisture make them squaek.
Went through puddles. Horrible squeak started. They suggested scrubbing the soles to remove dirt and moisture. So, Olympus 6 is a trail shoe that should avoid dirt and moisture. Clever. I'll hover. Galactically stupid sole design.

Shockingly bad quality.
The design of the Olympus hike shoes or great and they are actually waterproof (unlike some which claim to be and are not). BUT the quality is terrible. I had the Olympus 5 and they fell apart after a couple of months. I tried the latest version (Olympus 6 hike) hoping they would be better but they are much worse. The quality is appalling. Holes in the inner heal after 3 weeks of use and cannot see them lasting for much over 6 weeks. Save your money and buy something better put together.

Terrible customer experience in the EU
Terrible customer experience in the EU. Online form was not working to send shoes back, had to print my own. Then, they don't cover shipping, which was 20 EUR for the cheapest option for me, without any tracking. It's been 5 weeks since I sent the shoes back and no news. Called customer support and they can't do anything about it. 230 EUR just gone like that. I'll surely never buy from them again

Very Let Down
I've been using Altra for many years now for running, hiking etc. They have been my go to and I've recommended them countless times to many other people. However, I recently purchased a pair of their Olympus 5 trainers and literally within weeks they were splitting and falling apart in very strange areas - places that don't really see much movement and so shouldn't be. So, after years of being a dedicated supporter I emailed them to let them know what had happened. I heard nothing. I chased the matter up again a couple of weeks later and still, nobody has had the courtesy to come back to me. I'm afraid I won't be using or recommending this company again and feel very let down. Perhaps if they actually cared about their products and loyal customers they could become a regular name on the high street. As it goes, this won't be the case when you have sub-par equipment and no customer service.

As usual when dealing with a totally unknown company, I conduct my own due diligence process.Well, this company spectacularly failed.I emailed them using their contact us form but after a week, no reply, nada.A custom spent his precious time trying to get more information about their product but this effort is rewarded by the company’s total arrogance.I guess they have enough customers lining their coffers so I won’t be buying from them. Shame.

Trail shoes that split after 6 weeks – appalling quality and dismissive customer service!
I bought a pair of Altra trail running shoes and after just six weeks of normal use, the ankle cuff fabric split wide open. I expected an instant refund given the minimal time I had the shoes. When I contacted customer service, they told me this was “normal wear and tear” – apparently, Altra shoes aren’t expected to last more than a month and a half!They offered a 40% discount to buy another pair, which is frankly insulting. I didn’t want to spend more money with a brand that doesn’t stand behind its products.This experience has completely eroded my trust in Altra. AVOID THIS BRAND if you value shoes that actually last and a company that stands behind what it sells!

Bought two pairs, the second pair disintegrated after very little use. I tried to return them but they wouldn't accept them even though they were still under warranty. Avoid.

Shoes that cost £175 are defective, and customer service will not refund me, or reply to the many contact emails I have sent them. Terrible customer service, I will never buy Altra again. I am still trying!

Worst trainers ive tried so far
Worst trainers ive tried so far. Stiff and uncomfortable. Terrible quality and to top it off some of their trainers are sent from Italy which makes sending them back much more of a hassle. Oh and you have to pay £12 to send them back. Tried Brooks trainers after and they are great.

I don't know where all those bad reviews come from. I sent them a complaint about a relatively minor fault of new shoes last night and got a full refund (+ I get to keep the shoes) in less than 12 hours!

Altrarunning.eu is the worst seller
Altrarunning.eu is the worst seller I have ever dealt with. I returned part of the order and had to fight for 3 months to get the amount of the return refunded, even threatening to press charges. You can verify that it's not just me on "Trustpilot". Regardless of the quality of the shoes, I wouldn't wish anyone to have to go through this experience. When ordering ALTRA shoes in the EU, I would recommend using a third-party provider.
