Redundant
Redundant, repetitive basic courses. Will automatically charge you for your subscription and you won’t see it until a year has past and you’ve long stopped using the app. Borderline unethical, like most business models in 2026

I am using Babbel to learn Russian. Paet of the course requires entering a response using Cyrillic charactere. Babbel provides a Russian keyboard. It doesn't work, I am using this on a Windows laptop. It doesn't work with Chrome, Firefox or Edge. I tried it on my wife's Macbook. It doesn't work. I have chatted with support. I have written to support. The responses are between nothing and worth nothing. I would strongly recommend againt Babbel since if anything goes wrong it appears to be completely unresponsive.I have demanded either fixing or returning my money. Again, no response.
I find it difficult to understand the breadth of resources available and how to link them together. I think more thought needs to be given to the MMI and to facilitate easy exploration. More exercises on structuring language, use of verb tenses and listening exercises would be helpful, or perhaps I haven't found them?
I see a difference between Babbel and other applications. There are grammar explanations, cultural references, variety of the exercises. Voices seem to be real people, not AI. Streak count is pushing me to do at least one class a day
Learning the grammar as I progress is really helping my understanding of the language unlike my previous app.
Bite size learning continually reinforced.Going well so far.
Easy to follow ,good levelsConsistent
I am enjoying Babble and very keen to continue!! at the moment I don't get it all but it is gradually becoming clearer!!
Suppa app, really insightful, detailed and practical
I love the diversity of the lessons and the freedom of choice of my learning pace. Keep up the great work! What could be improved?1. Example from my Italian lessons (in US English) - when new words are introduced, they are always repeated in the same order, which makes it much easier to correctly solve the exercise without thinking that much. Some kind of shuffling would be great.2. More sophisticated vocabulary to learn on C1 English level (in Polish). There are many lessons, but the vocabulary is usually quite limited (e.g. food - only basic words are introduced, I'd love to see more kinds of meat, fish, cutlery, etc.)
The native speakers Babble uses for audio lessons talk so fast and with such heavy accents that you can never understand them. Makes lessons impossible. You’re not going to learn anything here.
the site feels sloppy. I notice clear errors, lack of explanation on different language concepts, and questions about concepts and vocabulary that has not been explained or revealed. I also have had trouble with the login process.
A frustrating app and in my view poorly designed.Native speakers' speed, pronunciation and expression are often unhelpful or inappropriate. Voice recognition is unreliable.Insufficient speaking and listening opportunities.Hardly any repetition of words, phrases and concepts.Limited grammatical explanations. On the whole, poor value and I certainly wouldn't recommend it. There's better free stuff out there. Learning a language requires a lot of listening and you won't get it here.Good points: it's cheap and lessons can be accessed again.
Easy to use, helpful lessons. Can do in your own time, anywhere
Great app. Somewhat steeper learning experience than some of its competitors, but that's exactly the reason I moved on from those. A couple of annoying ui and ux choices, (mainly in the app) aside, it's a nice experience overall.
I have a Good expirience with learning through babel.
Enjoying my learning but had to restart as I started off on a level a bit above my abilities.
The course very motivating and contains multiple ways of learning and helping to recap. It is easy to use, simply intuitive. Also the implemented AI is really helpful to train listening an talking.
I particularly like the in-depth explanations in the grammar section, which helps enormously with some of the puzzling aspects of the German language. I do find the repetitive nature of the lessons in the word section rather slow and a little boring. Also when an example of a verb or noun is used in context with a longer sentence, the example quickly moves on to the next page so I find I have to keep switching back a page to absorb what has been written. It would be better to let the student move forward when they are ready.
I've come back after a couple of years or more. Having paid upfront meant I had no excuse - going to Sud Tirol in June - where Swiss German isn't so much use........
