Have always had great service from Brownells Australia. Granted they may not be the cheapest but if they say they have it in stock they do. Here in WA we are shunned by most interstate dealers due to their interpretation of what they can and can't sell to us, Brownells have consistently looked after me. They have a great range of diverse items and in some cases, the only place in Oz you will find them.
I initially rang Brownells Australia & had a detailed conversation with one of their sales reps about purchasing a Harris Bipod. They couldn't get me the exact one I wanted, (the one I wanted had notched legs & was for a picatinny rail mount) but they assured me that they could get me one with notched legs. So I bought an aftermarket low profile picatinny rail mount (not from Brownells) so I could mount the bipod to my rifle. Much to my dismay, the one that arrived in the mail did not have notched legs as was discussed with the sales rep, so I returned it to them immediately it in the mail. I then received an email back from Brownells, telling me the one I sent had been used & was covered in marks, attached via its sling stud attachments to a rifle, which in the email, included photos of a Harris Bipod, which had clearly been used. All this considering I don't even have sling studs on my rifle. I know exactly how these photos have come about. Australia post & the one two switcheroo ay? Nope, Australia post have nothing to gain from the old switcheroo? I've never seen anything like it. Brownells Australia are clearly in this to rip off their customers.
Do not support this company. I made three separate orders, after ordering part showed in stock, was informed that they were not. Told be a week to get correct one, fine fair enough after a week I hand to ring because my first order hand not been sent. After two weeks I emailed to find out what was going on With my second order and why the third had not been processed, they just canceled my orders. Do not support these people
Customer service is appallingly bad. Communication is combative and completely inappropriate, which is accurately reflected by the extremely high number of poor reviews on Trust Pilot. If I could give zero stars I would.
I recently had a couple af Magazines arrive that we're not as described, rang Brownells and spoke to Bruce. He could not have been more helpful and went out of his way to fix the problem, he also said that he would check with the manufactured to find out where the miscommunication came from.It is so refreshing to have a supplier that cares. They will continue to receive my business.
Before placing my first order with Brownells Australia a few years back, I read many reviews that were not very flattering, but went ahead and ordered and am so glad I did. Addressing the main review complaints from my experiences:1. Not answering phones. I've never had a problem getting onto someone quickly and they have always been polite and helpful.2. Cost. I did some cost comparisons between the US and AU prices and found the total markup averaged around 40%. Considering the shipping costs from the US, GST and a profit margin, I feel this is quite reasonable. I have even found that items readily available in shops are comparable, and in some cases markedly cheaper, so there are bargains to be had by shopping at Brownells AU too.3. Timeframes. Yes, the shipping can take a while, but the expected timeframes are clearly articulated on the website. Yes, some shipments can take longer with the only real delay I have experienced caused by an overly long Border Force inspection. I actually had a subsequent order 'overtake' this order, arriving well before the first order. The emails at every step of the supply chain allow you to keep tabs on your order so, if it's stuck at Entry, Brownell's AU can't do much about it.One very positive experience I had was regarding a mount that was listed on the US site but not the AU site. I emailed a query to Brownells AU, received a response within a couple of hours that the part would be on the Australian site by that afternoon and it was.So, in summary, if you want a part/accessory that is not readily available in Australia, and don't want to navigate the minefield of US State Department export restrictions, give Brownells AU a go.
As this is the ONLY place to get aftermarket parts for handguns that ship to Western Australia i have to give it a 5 star, i recommend they should include more items similar to the US site. Personally would like to see Taran Tactical Innovations gear such as basepads etc.It is so dissapointing to know that the firearm industry in Australia is extremely behind in the customisation department. For those that do eish to customise their handguns, they have had extremely limited options, thats why i support Brownells Australia no matter what!
I just purchased online from the US, Iowa store of Brownells, reloading gear at a cost of US$182 (A$269)All the way through the process of searching products and even on the checkout/payment page, it stated 'FREE SHIPPING'. So I paid and got the payment email back now saying that shipping will be calculated and I will receive another email about that. I rang them but couldn't get through and emailed them to cancel the order. Rang my bank the next day to block my card and etc.Got 6 emails from Brownells today about the goods being shipped and thank you etc and the amount charged against my credit card, was an extra 160% for shipping, and extra US$290 (>A$428) for a maybe 3kg parcel with 3 items, and shipped by land and sea transport. The bank says they can't stop it as the date was before I blocked the card, even though the withdrawal had not appeared on my account when I rang them...I bought the items as they were a good saving on Au prices and now I have been ripped for way more and I await my phone call to them to see what they will do... Brownells are giving false impressions on shipping and charge a lot more than it would cost to go airmail. I can only hope they cancel the order and return the money as I'm a long term disabled Vet pensioner and old bloke. I'm preparing the paperwork to submit a consumer complaint in the US, depending what Brownells does next in regards to cancelling/refund of the order. Total cost =A$698... Cost of the actual goods = A$269. Absolutely disgraceful from Brownells
I ordered a small part that could be mailed in an envelope. It is now 6/04/2019The order was placed14/01/2019. cost$17.47Brownells Au do not answer their phone and sent me an Email message saying that my order was on a back order and that the USA supplier is a mum and dad outfit and very slow on deliveries.I have canceled my order with them and asked for a return of my money. Guess what no response from Brownells.Looks like I have lost my money so will try to get a refund from Visa for a non delivery.
If I could give no stars I would. No service whatsoever. Glacial would describe everything about my purchase except the taking of my money. Website said 10 days for delivery- it took 52. There was no communication from Brownells.com.au and they did not reply to any of my emails.Purchase at your own risk!
Unbelievable bad! $19 US becomes $84 AUD by the time it gets here. The service defies description.Brownells Australia appears to be nothing more than a drop-shipper - and a very, very expensive and inefficient one at that.Absolutely nothing to recommend whatsoever.Did I mention, inefficient and expensive?
Pathetic service quoted 10 days when order was placed 4 months later still waiting now being told hasn’t left the U.S yet blaming customer service in the states, yet 6 weeks ago when I rung they said it was all on the way. Don’t waste ur time with this pathetic excuse of a company
Poor service called to ask if they had something in stock, as usual they didn't (99% of the time). The person on the other end of the phone was rude and made it sound like a chore. Take note Brownells US you need to take your brand to someone that knows something about customer service. This shop has been poor for alot of years thats why I drive between 100km and 300km to get what I need.
Ordered a part. Tracking number says delivered to my home town but I never received it. Rang them and was told I had to deal with the postal service and find out where it had gone. I would think they would be the ones to look as they use the service. Lost my money and still have to buy the new part.
First, the good part: their automated email system confirms your order, advises you when there are delays and emails updates every week or so.The Australian store orders from the US and claims 10 days delivery for parts not available locally. What actually happened is that the US order was only placed 10 days later. I'm over 4 weeks waiting now and the order is stuck with Australian Customs (apparently). I'm only buying reloading gear. Really poor service and it seems that Aussie customers are seeing the same poor service as US customers (look at Brownells.com reviews). I'll never use them again. I would have had my parts from China faster. Any other Australian supplier would have delivered already.
