Water leak investigation and repair!
I’ve had a problem with a water leak through the ceiling in our bathroom for over a year. I’ve had 6 different people look at it and no one could find the source. I called Capstone Homes (the original builder). Capstone’s Phil Thompson came out the same day to investigate and within half an hour he found the source. He was in my attic and on my roof three times checking things out. He showed me a video and pictures he took of leak inside our attic. Phil repaired the leak. It was a minor problem that was eventually going to cause major problems. Additionally repairs are being made to our bathroom drywall and some insulation will be added to our attic. We so appreciate Capstone’s help and Phil’s wonderful work. I wholeheartedly recommend Capstone home!

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware, RUN don’t walk!! There are plenty of ethical, quality builders to choose from. Don’t put down any deposits unless you know 100% you will build with capstone or they WILL keep the money because quote from salesperson: "We need to penalize our customers or they will walk all over us" read the reviews!!! We did, and although they sent up large red flags, we chose to ignore and regret that decision now. The contract you sign states the deposit is non refundable if you default, but we have spoken with multiple builders during and since dealing with capstone and every one of them is appalled a company would keep $10,000 deposit when neither Final price, drafted plan, or any permitting/lot work has been completed. Yes, they are legally right to keep the $10,000, but ethically why would they when minimal work (other than pricing) has been done. They feel justified because they spent time pricing items and drafting from an existing plan they own. Completely unwilling to negotiate a fair compensation for the drafters time. Regarding pricing, that is what sales is about. Once the initial deposit was paid, the pricing structure was no longer negotiable and their alacart pricing is simply crazy. For example - a fireplace that RETAILs for $5,000, they want $10,000!!! (Mind you - they don’t pay retail). Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. In my opinion (which we paid $10,000 to share with the public every opportunity we can) although we lost $10,000 - we WON!!! We will not be building with Capstone and for that we are grateful. I would highly discourage anyone from doing business with Capstone. I can only imagine the nightmare that would have taken place if we proceeded with the build and had we put down the next sizeable deposit based on lots of published reviews from consumers.

Unprofessional and totally…
Unprofessional and totally untrustworthy- these people are meant to manage the lease to our property but in the 16 years I’ve lived here they have never done ANY maintenance work that’s required and yet seem to think it’s their legal right to bill us for service charges. I sent photographic evidence of damp, outer walls crumbling, outer stairs in a state of disrepair but never received any reply so we had to pay for all the work to be done privately and they ignored all our requests for the 50% share of the costs and then have the audacity to send us invoices for service charges! I’ve emailed them repeatedly asking them to evidence the services they’ve allegedly provided but just get no response and then get invoiced for charges of arrears! I mean talk about unscrupulous- this lot take the biscuit. Awful awful awful

Stay away
Stay away. They will be 6-7 over their own drop dead deadline on this new build. We will be spending $400-$600 more per month due to rising interest rates and losing money on the house we have to sell also do to rising rates. They claim they can't find materials and/or workers but seem to have plenty for their houses in Flagstaff. Plenty of other builders in this area have been able to complete their homes. Homes they have finished have multiple problems and they are very, very late in fixing problem after much documentation and numerous phone calls. They are a builder to avoid

Bait and switch routine
It's almost pathetic how many seemingly fake/new profiles are leaving 5 star reviews with next to no reviews under their belt on this company. This company literally was a bait and switch scam; they stole approximately $4,000 when we backed out prior to them starting to build anything.Horrible business practices. they made so many promises verbally, once it came time for them to put it in writing they pulled the "well this is our standard contract; everything else we'll put into an addendum for you shortly" and go figure; they didn't. They management there made threats to not build our home late into the process which would've cost us several more thousands of dollars in deposits/inspections/surveys we did on land we were purchasing for the potential home (construction loan is land + home build combined) among other problems.....My wife and I were interested in getting our dream home built by them; after being torn between Capstone and another builder we took a leap of faith on capstone and have wholeheartedly regretted our decision everyday since... This organization has to be one of the worst bait and switch businesses I've had the displeasure of working with. From lies in the beginning to purposely omitting information on the contract claiming "oh we'll just put an addendum on it, no worries!" BEWARE of this builder. We were told for an 'on your own lot' build that we would get $10,000 credits on closing costs specifically. come to find out on contract signing day that was not included and they claimed they'd look into it and addendum it later as we discussed; among many other financial promises. Imagine the disdain we felt when later they acted like it never happened, claiming they only did $10,000 for specific builds and apparently ours did not qualify. To make it better; they threatened to take a majority of our deposit before anything was built, even though they don't complete their end of the bargain! I can finally understand why they give almost $3,000 in credits to people not using realtors now; it's so they can bait and switch people on contracts more easily and steal their deposits. To make matters worse; as time went on and communication between capstones representatives and myself became worse as they were hard to reach via phone calls...More issues arose with promised items being switched on us last minute - as the phrase "bait and switch" suggests. We were promised a nice tiled corner tub in our upgraded bathroom we were paying $9,000 extra for. This was supposed to be of a specific brand that Capstone cheapen out and tried to bait and switch it with a smaller, cheaper, uglier variant that my Wife and I were not happy with, and that tiling was no longer included with! The inconsistencies don't stop there! When we received our welcome paperwork on our overpriced home build we were cheated into; the papers they provided us said things that should be standard in their builds. They apparently decided they were going to remove all the "standards" they sent via e-mail and go off some different list of what they wanted to give us based on how much money we were spending and what credits they already gave us. I'm unsure what kind of business decides to invalidate their own documents they provide to their customers to push harshWhen we finally started getting completely fed up with all the lies and inconsistencies from the management team at Capstone, we were threatened with the idea of not having them build our home and take our deposit! After many months of the lying, cheating, and worsening the deal for us, they had the audacity to threaten us that which would've defaulted our loan on our land costing us THOUSANDS more than they already have by their current business practices. To my surprise, Capstone is still in business. I wouldn't recommend anything about Capstone except for people to stay away
