Recently purchase a nut and bolt restored Defender 110.Danny was very helpful and update me every step of the restoration process since car was done on my request he follow up also the full shipping process . car was delivered door to door from Italy to Austin tx and is amazing.Just went on a trip to Ny and drives amazing thanks again guys
Do not restore, import or do business with Carrozzeria Storica Cantu. They're shady, slimy mechanics and don't remotely stand behind their work.I imported a classic 2 door Gwagon via Danny the lead mechanic from their shop in Italy to Vancouver, BC.I communicated with Danny their via phone and whatsapp message. I was aware i was purchasing was a classic car and was reassured multiple times from Danny it was in great condition and mechanically sound. I repeatedly asked if there was any issues with the engine, body or drivetrain as i'd rather address repairs that side if need be. Danny repeatedly advised it was in perfect running order and wasn't necessary at all. Due to the nature of this purchase and the price of €33,000 we refurbished the interior with new upholstery but i also emphasized mechanically reliable is paramount and work within that budget. Danny implied he understood and kept me up to date during the process.Unfortunately upon delivery the car had the following issues and i've attached images for reference;- There was water pouring from behind the dash and onto the carpets- The cars radio was stolen- the reupholstered ceiling fabric was dropping and sagging- the leather install was sloppy and detaching- The alternator needed replacing- The brake level link bracket was broken and couldn't pass safety inspection- Front wheel bearings were vibrating and loose- Front Diff is significantly leaking and needs all gaskets replaced- Car arrived with missing seatbelts in the back.I communicated the above to Danny as soon as it arrived and he advised he would refund the money needed to make the repairs and to proceed with the work. Due to the extent of the repairs this took a few months due to parts issues and the shop labour. In total the cost has accumulated to $4,500 CAD. And that's not even running yet or fixing the leaking diff. Just to address the issues and get it on the road.Unfortunately Danny has stopped responding to messages and has refused to address any issues with the vehicle at all.I hope this review helps any future customers avoid this situation and takes their hard earned money elsewhere. Obviously there is a huge amount of trust when importing and restoring classic cars and i feel Carrozzeria Storica Cantu has proved they can't be trusted.
