Inaccessible Files
Ive been using Easynews (EN) for years... I canceled my membership at one point, however, was drawn back in by an attractive offer. Big mistake. Over the past 6-12 months I've noticed that there are MANY items, increasingly, that are indicated to be available either in a thumbnail or file or.... whatever, however, when an attempt is made to open, the system indicates the file cannot be opened. That's it.... just a message of an error which indicates the file wont open. I communicated with EN about this I was told in simple terms.... "It is out of our control"... and perhaps it is.My point is that the "Over 6395 days of Article Retention" claimed is not accurate. Yes, there may be that many DAYS available, however, when data from 5 years ago OR a month ago is randomly unavailable, the amount of days available is pointless. The fact is, that there are many unavailable files, not a few.... thousands. I need to reiterate that this issue started relatively recently as noted above. For YEARS I used EN with no issues on accessing files, etc. This is a new problem that exists and I'm not the only one it effects. Countless sites such as Reddit, etc. have many comments about this same problem. Seems as though EN is aware of this issue and either doesn't want to fix it or doesn't know how.

Easynews has excellent customer service
Easynews has been an excellent service. When I had an issue with my account password and billing, they were as good as any company I have ever dealt with. They responded to me in less than an hour and my problem was resolved in three emails. They got me out of some difficulty. I can only praise their customer service and professionalism. Extremely pleased.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! No reply from any support. No real support of any kind. Emails go unanswered. Account recovery links are bad. Their own Contact Us page is broken and you cant submit tickets.

Not to be trusted they send messages offering discounted price when you submit cancelation but the offer is even more than normal promotions on their website. They then trick you with further discounts only to get you to join their sister site newshosting

What a wonderful service!I have used it for years. Makes usenet accessible to everyone with its immensely powerful index and search features. I rely solely on the internal index, finding what I need without external indexers.The pricing is nothing short of fantastic, speeds are great (I suggest testing different regions and ports in settings; I currently find 444 on Europe best), and the support team is fast, personally adapting to your needs, and knowledgeable.I like to use the older 2.0 interface in advanced mode, as it has more features. I choose the "block layout" mode, which lets me view articles' subject line and file name at a glance. In addition, I use a spam filter to avoid viruses and password-protected results, and tick the "hide duplicates" box in search.A VPN service with Wireshark support is also included.In conclusion, as far as I'm concerned, Easynews IS usenet.I am not affiliated, and my opinions are my own.

little issues but overall good for the money
im using easynews only via browser - so ill focus on this. theres lots of little issues with the beta ui although being the most usable of the 3 interfaces. searching videos by fps doesn't work, it defaults to video on a second search although audio was selected, im still puzzled how to get the advanced search dialog up reliably from results and im never sure if i am in a certain group context with my search, but most importantly theres no cyrilic or other latin characters supported for search terms - everything but ascii is filtered out.Also quite some new entries are giving 404 - i suspect this could be due to the regional mirrors not being up2speed. regarding speed there's nothing to complain - it's never below 100mbits. ipv4 traffic speed seems to be limited though.that for free included privado vpn is good enough as well, although the end points are often being detected in netherland.

I signed up for a one month trial period but was charged for a year. They do not take phone calls and do not respond to a tickets created on their website. Also, they do not respond to cancellation of the trial period.

I have been using EasyNews continuously for almost twenty years now. Never failed to deliver. Retention time is phenomenal. (I am not affiliated with them in any way. Just a happy customer). If you need NNTP, this is the place to go to.

The speed, indexing etc. is super. The website is not the fanciest. Some may call it outdated, but it gets the job done fast and easy - especially the 2.0 version - I like it. :-)The VPN client is not the best. Last time I tested, it crashed multiple times when large files is transfered. So I don't use it.Due to the increased price I had to cancel my unlimited account. It was beeing too expensive for what I used it for.Update: I have been in contact with support(very fast answering) and we made a deal that is acceptable for me, so I am happy again.

If you signed up for Easynews
If you signed up for Easynews, you should cancel your billing agreement before they steal your money. This company signed me up to a lifetime price and then sent me a notice that my "lifetime" price was being increased because they "must make critical updates to our infrastructure. Amid these rising costs and other growing energy and network expenses" and as a result they are nearly doubling the price of my account. Thankfully I had a limit set on that account and the increased charge failed. A few weeks later they sent me a email with an offer for service that cost less than the amount they were trying to increase my previous account. I suppose they didn't really need to increase prices after all?I need my money. When you try to steal from me like this, it actually hurts my family.

A lot of the content I am looking for…
A lot of the content I am looking for is not there. Almost everything from 2021 is gone and I have to use all my other block accounts to get that content. The web browser is not bad, but it is pretty dated and needs updating. Some of the content I am looking for actually shows up as trans adult material instead of what it it supposed to be.

There are better options. I signed up at a lifetime discount but after only a year they tried to raise my price by "only $2 per month" but that is $24 increase, which was more than 160% increase. They claimed it was "necessary" because of the increase in costs, but now they are offering me an account at "$1.99/month" but the fine print is that its $24/year (not $1.99) and then it INCREASES to over $70!! They sent me an email that ended up in my spam folder barely two weeks before they tried to raise my price. Not enough notice imo.This company is shady.

BEWARE
BEWARE! Scammed me out of my money. Raised my rates without asking. Then my card declined because they raised my rates and I was smart enough to set a max charge amount on it. So I tried to sign up again using one of their special prices I found online, but it would not let me sign up at that price, it said that I was not allowed to do that. Instead it allowed me to sign back up at my old higher price.I will not use them after this account expires. They are scamming people out of their money
