Ordered orthopedic dog bed sofa. When my dog tried to lay on it, he slipped forward as it is made high at the back and pushed him into an uncomfortable position. Customer service told me thats how it was supposed to be which i find odd Had to pay £30 to return it for a refund
I had very high hopes for these dog beds, when they arrived my dogs loved them and they looked incredibly comfortable.Unfortunately, 6 weeks on, they’re ruined! The covers have ripped on both beds, and the foam bag has now been damaged too, so that’s that! I asked customer service to replace the covers, because I didn’t think 6 weeks was really good enough and they just fobbed me off and showed no desire to assist. If you have a house dog, one that never goes outside or gets carried everywhere, then maybe these will work for you, but this is by far the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced with a dog bed, and cannot recommend anyone buys this flimsy product that simply isn’t fit for purpose!
We switched to George Barclay when Orvis stopped selling dog beds in the UK and now have three GB beds. Other members of the family have them too and we're happy with them EXCEPT for the nightmare of getting the bolsters back in the cover after a wash. I have semi-solved this by removing crumb from the bolsters (but be warned.. make sure you do it outside direct into the bin because it goes everywhere/sticks to jumpers). But I still dread the effort involved in their re-assembly after washing the covers. With the larger beds it's a two-woman job and your hands ache from the effort. Really, it's a design fault which would be resolved by reducing the crumb and extending the zips on the arms of the bolster section. Please GB, fix this..
We purchased the bed for our lab in May 2025, at a cost of £140. Within a matter of months a split appeared in the cover. Although this was replaced free of charge we were told a second wouldn’t be free. It has now split again, so are staring at another £70. Whilst our dog loves the beds, for a large dog the covers simply aren’t strong enough. Not happy so be warned if you are considering a similar purchase
Avoid this company customer service worst ever I purchased bed and company forgot to include part of it so that arrived week later I then decided to return item as it came 2 boxes due to there mistake they wanted to charge me £30 each box to return when I declined they said it would be 1x £30 it cost £14.99 to be delivered but £30 to return no mention of this when you buy it says you are liable for return cost no customer service at all
This is the 3rd memory foam bed I have purchased for my boy. 2 were the walled dog beds which have worn well and the covers are in and out of the wash regularly. This time I have purchased the memory foam mattress as he is arthritic and sometimes finds it a little difficult to get out of the walled ones. I have to say he loves the new bed, and it is really easy to hoover and keep clean. The quality of these beds is the best I have purchased and wish I had found them a long time earlier. Would recommend the customer service when I called for a little advice and the delivery is spot on.
Unfortunately my experience with George Barclay has been terrible. The only postage they offer is with Parcelforce and cost me £9.99. Parcelforce were TERRIBLE. I was due to receive the order on 29th August and we still hadn’t received it by 9th September so we had to drive 40 minutes to the depot to collect it as we kept requesting the parcel be taken to the post office and they instead kept bringing it to our home address (although no ring doorbell footage suggests they didn’t attempt to leave it multiple times). I reached out to the company several times and they apparently spoke to Parcelforce and delivery to the post office would be sorted - it wasn’t. They did refund postage (rightly so when we had to collect the parcel ourselves!!) but we got no compensation for the fuel, and no goodwill gesture following the stress, hassle and wasted time caused by the experience. I certainly will not be ordering from them again and definitely will not be recommending them to friends and family. The bed itself is nice but definitely not worth the hassle and came with it.
Bought largest size cool coat for our st bernard. The fit is awful, the strap from chest to stomach sags when wet and the back of it slides to one side or other constantly. Supposed to keep dog cool but only keeps dog warm and wet. Left a review on google and they asked to get in touch with then. I did but have been completely ignored so what was the point. Not fit for purpose, avoid company.

A few things here...Firstly, I ordered a large dog bed and the drop-down default selection was just a replacement cover (still £65) so obviously pretty disappointed with first order.Secondly, the delivery service (Parcelforce) was absolutely atrocious. They are a worldwide delivery service so these clearly aren't coming from England, and I had no notification it was delivered. I had to check the tracking and it said they were unable to deliver and left a card for me to pick up at a post office. They left no such card nor did they attempt delivery... I had to liaise with the supplier themselves to eventually track it down.After recieving the wrong item expected entirely... I naively gave them another chance and went and ordered the actual dog bed as well. Same issue with Parcelforce, except this time they returned to depot. Our camera shows no attempt at delivery.George Barclay were not exactly keen to make it up to me but I arranged for the whole thing to be returned for a refund. I guess I'll get my refund if Parcel Force ever decide to return to them :(
Just received the dog bed. Memory foam crumb inner, water repellent outer, snazzy realtree camo trim, very fitting as the dogs are working cocker spaniels! Both dogs are now happily asleep on a very comfortable bed. Ordered on Tuesday, delivered today (Friday) great customer service, responded quickly to a query I had. I will definitely use this company again.
This company is simply lying to their costumers. This is from their website: "George Barclay products are designed and manufactured in England, with a number of items being produced at our premises in Wiltshire." Surprise, surprise I received my items from the company with 'Made in China' labels. Their costumer service is a disgrace too, very annoying when a company thinks you are stupid. At least that is what they hope for. I would not give them one star if it was possible. They deserve none.
Product didn't look like pictures on website, I did ask for a return but despite the pictures not reflecting the received product - I needed to pay to send the item back. As the dog bed is so large this wasn't going to be financially viable for the refund. Such a shame as I have been looking into beds to support my dog who is recently diagnosed with arthritis and invested in what looked to be both functional and attractive but the end product colours and feel were very different. Unfortunately George Barclay weren't interested in this feedback or with helping me resolve the problem.
Spent nearly £60 on the large twin adjustable stand with twin dog bowls.Lower adjuster which keeps entire setup stable broke after only a few months of use. I think we had used the adjuster 4times max - the metal pin had sheared through the plastic of the adjuster mount.Without this the stand is unusable as main shaft just wobbles everywhere.Contacted George Barclay who shunned any responsibility and said I need to buy an entire stand!!!The part couldn’t cost more than a tenner - they wouldn’t replace it for free or sell me another!! Item is not fit for purpose as poor quality plastic!
My dog is now 17 and suffers with arthritis. She loves her new beds. Have purchased A selbourne Orthapedic Walled dog bed and a sofa bed. She is able to stretch out or curl up and it has made a huge difference to her in her latter years. I found when calling for advice, the person was very helpful and knowledgeable about the products. Delivery was excellent, and the beds were well packaged. I would recommend these beds, they are extremely well made and easy to vaccum for dog hair. I am so glad I found this brand.
Bought large sofa style less than a year ago, and the chopped up foam matress is useless. My dog is pretty much laying on the floor as the foam is so rubbish. Had to replace bed and it was not cheap to purchase
Have had this bed for a year.Good quality BUT….getting the bolster back in to the cover after washing is a nightmare. I’m quite strong but really struggle.
Very good bed! I would sleep on it! It has been a year and the bed just looks the same.
Not recommended. I bought the Minstead Orthopaedic Pillow Pet Bed - Caramel, Large for £34.99. It was £10 delivery but came well packaged. It is described as having "Moisture ShieldTM protective water resistant inner covers" - they don't seem very waterproof to me and they CANNOT BE REMOVED as they protect the filling. So if your dog pees on the bed as mine has, I can take the outer cover off and wash it but the inner cover continues to smell of pee. Rubbish. Will look for reviews next time before I buy another dog bed!
This bed is amazing!! The quality is supreme, it is a sturdy bed, perfect for my dog! I want to get in it myself. I would definitely recommend!
