Awful solitors do not get back to you phillipa is a trainee and there putting her on complex cases which she is not capable of handling, no people skills. Barrister ellen who does not work for these is really good. Always tries to pass the buck and say she will get in contact with them but never hear back and gives wrong legal advice.
I am currently being represented by James Steward in the Conveyancing Department at Hunt and Coombs, and I have been consistently impressed with the exceptional level of expertise, care, and attention he has provided throughout the handling of two property sales. The speed and efficiency with which these transactions have been completed, and how seamlessly everything has gone, has truly exceeded my expectations.I’ve been a client of this firm for years, utilising both of their locations and working with various staff members on both personal and business matters. Time and again, they go above and beyond to deliver outstanding service with minimal fuss. One thing I particularly appreciate is their consistent and transparent approach to billing, which is a rare quality in today’s market. It’s a testament to their professionalism and integrity.My first experience with the firm was in 2013 when I worked with Henry Anstey. Henry was the first solicitor I instructed, and he truly set the bar high. He helped me navigate a complex estate, probate, will and testament setup, and the creation and ongoing management of my trust. I am forever grateful to him for his unwavering support over the years.I cannot recommend Hunt and Coombs highly enough. Progress and response times are very poor. I was ignored for 3 months despite multiple emails, and had to constantly chase for updates, or nothing happens. This is particularly upsetting given it concerns probate, complete lack of empathy.
My experience with Hunt & Coombs has been extremely disappointing and far below the standard expected of a professional legal firm. I instructed them for a property purchase that involved a lease extension, trusting that all aspects, including the lease extension relating to both the flat and the garden would be handled with proper diligence. Instead, a significant issue later emerged with the Land Registry, an issue Hunt & Coombs should have identified and addressed when it first came to light.The property purchase went through in December 2022. The issue arose in September 2024, when Hunt & Coombs emailed me to tell me that the flat lease extension did not extend to the garden. They did not share further details on the issue, why this occurred, refused to speak to me over the phone and instructed me to seek assistance from another legal firm.Their communication was dismissive, and I was left completely on my own, trying to understand a legal process that was their responsibility to manage, not mine.Because they would not act, I was forced to spend enormous amounts of personal time researching my rights and contacting other solicitors. Ultimately, I had to escalate the matter to the Legal Ombudsman, who over a year later have been able to complete their investigation. Only after the Ombudsman intervened did Hunt & Coombs finally step in to resolve the Land Registry issue, despite having had the opportunity and responsibility to do so much earlier.Had I not pushed, researched, and escalated the matter myself, I would have been left with the consequences of a problem I did not create, potentially incurring financial losses on additional legal services, all this taking time and adding to the stress that the flat did not have value I assumed due to the lack of lease extension on the garden. The delay and lack of engagement from Hunt & Coombs was completely unacceptable.I cannot recommend this firm. Their unwillingness to take responsibility, their lack of communication, and the fact that they only acted when pressured by the Legal Ombudsman shows a serious failure in client care. Clients deserve better than to be ignored until a regulator forces action.

Very poor experience of using Hunt and Coombs mental health team to represent my young dependant in a tribunal - sided completely with the hospital to not support their client in anything , astonishingly poor experience. RECOMMEND DONT USE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH TEAM THEY GET LEGAL AID FUNDING AND DO VERY LITTLE TO EARN IT !!
We appointed Hunt&Coombs for the buying and selling. They asked for documents and then £750 for part of their fees and after 2 weeks then got an email to say they suggest we find another solicitors as can not handle their workload and are too busy with other clients. This was disgusting. We had wasted 2+ weeks and then quickly had to find another solicitors. AWFUL SERVICE!! WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!
I had a very bad experience with this solicitor. Our property transfer has been with them for almost four months, and we still haven’t received any updates or answers. We’ve tried to follow up many times, but they are not responding, and nothing has been done. I strongly recommend avoiding this firm. Do not sign any contracts with them because they are very unprofessional and will waste your time.
Would strongly recommend Hunts & Coombs to use for any house sale or purchases; I will definitely be using them again in the (hopefully not so near) future!Amanda A at Huntingdon branch was incredible. I was selling a joint owned house with an ex whilst then trying to buy my own property, and Amanda was my acting solicitor for the purchase. If it wasn't for Amanda I don't know how I would've managed to get the sale complete due to the sales solicitors being so poor and inefficient. After 8 months of chasing the sales solicitors, and some poor communication from them, I was left in a sticky situation with potentially being homeless for Christmas! Amanda worked her magic and managed to prevent this happening, which I am so incredibly grateful for and I cannot thank you enough!Amanda would chase where necessary, and was always acting in my best interest. I was fully informed of the process from start to finish, and any questions were answered and explained. Amanda sat and went through contracts and leases with me, and then had created a separate document to explain this in simple terms. Communication was excellent and consistent.I will definitely be recommending any friends, families and colleagues to use Hunts and Coombs - Huntingdon should they require a solicitor. 10/10 would recommend and use again. Thank you so much Amanda for all of your hard work, you literally made my Christmas!!
The house we sold had major complications and we tried 3 different solicitors who could not help us before we stumbled onto Hunts&Coombs Elaine Cummins. What the others couldn't do in a year, Elaine done in 5 months! She is super responsive, helpful and knowledgeable and she really likes to challenge herself and not give up until the deal is done. I will be going back to her when I next need a solicitor. Like I said, I have been through a lot of solicitors and I finally found one I will be using from now on!
Not a good experience at all, constantly having to chase for updates. Staff are rude, dismissive and difficult to contact - can’t wait for the whole experience to be over.
Avoid - too many issues and when concerns become complaints and even the so called Customer Care team refuse to speak to you; then you know this is a legal practice in disarray and who doesn’t care. Like other reviewers there are efficient and understanding solicitors available but this isn’t one. A pity we wasted several months before we transferred our business.
Husnain was super friendly, and helped me make a statutory declaration that I had already prepared. This was despite calling on the day I wanted to make the declaration. I plan to go back to Hunt & Coombs because the team went out of their way to help.
