Honey insurance? No thanks
After two years and NO claims they refuse to reinsure me after ‘a risk review’. At first I was told they couldn’t offer a competitive rate so I asked for the rate and to let me decide if it were competitive or not. Next, got an email from the supervisor saying that was wrong info and they won’t be offering me any policy at all!! Appalling really. Thankfully never had to make a claim with them. Stay away from honey insurance.

Avoid this insurance company at all costs
Avoid this insurance company at all costs. They lure you in with low cost premiums but god forbid you have to make a claim as the customer service and duty of care toward the claim is non existent. It took 9 months of emailing, texting and finally contacting the State Ombudsman to get what should have taken 2 weeks tops finalised. And still they didn't have the courtesy to make contact to have a conversation or make any apologies for their mistakes.I honestly don't know how they are still hold their licence to trade.

Great experience
Have had building and contents Honey Insurance since purchasing our property in December 2023. We received the sensors free of charge, which have been a great security feature, added to our property. They had an offer of discount for first 12 months. After the 12 months discount was removed, but still lower premium than competitors. After the 2025 March Cyclone on the Gold Coast, we made a building claim. They promptly sent out contractors. Our house was checked and treated (we didn't have extensive damage, just mould damage), ensuring it was safe for our young family. Contractors were helpful and easy to deal with. The damage was covered under out building insurance, and they allowed us to claim for the spoiled food we also experienced from days of power outage. We have received great service from Honey Insurance and they still have the cheapest premium on the market.

Honey Insurance Very dodgy insurance company
Very dodgy insurance company. I paid upfront for contents insurance and extra to insure an ocean ski for when it is on my car and away from home. They told me today (3 months into my policy) that they no longer can insure it away from home. I have already paid upfront for my policy, how can they just change it!

Unjustified premium increases
Exactly 3 years ago I signed up for Home and Contents with Honey Insurance and was paying just over $200 a month. Fast forward to August 2024 I was then paying over $300 and now 6 months later I was surprised to look through my credit card statement to find I am now paying over $500 a month. There has been zero communication about the price increases. There have been no claims, not change in risk or situation. Shop around!

Unjustified Premium Doubling at Honey Insurance
I regret not consulting this forum before opting for Honey Insurance. It seems many have faced issues similar to mine. I initially switched to Honey from my previous insurer due to their competitive rates and the appealing sensor technology gimmick. Unfortunately, just one year later, my renewal notice showed that my premium had doubled—this, despite having no claims, no changes to my policy, and no significant weather events that might justify such an increase. With the CPI for the year around 4%, a 100% increase in my insurance premium seems completely unjustifiable. A quick search revealed several more competitively priced alternatives offering additional features. I would advise anyone considering Honey Insurance to look elsewhere and compare other options to avoid similar surprises. Their pricing strategy is not only bewildering but also feels disrespectful to loyal customers.
