I looked for attorneys for basic issues…

I looked for attorneys for basic issues in the Seattle area, I'm not sure if they cherry pick what they want to work on being affiliated with MetLife, but no law office said they had attorneys available to answer my issue. What's the point of paying into this and having attorneys participate if they don't make any availability? This year I refuse to pay this out of my paycheck to see no return.

Absolute scam of a plan

Absolute scam of a plan. Lazy, irresponsible attorneys don't return calls or emails. Everyone except one I had to chase down. The ones I spoke to said they weren't interested because they don't get paid enough. Unless its involves zero work they won't touch it. Not even simple wills or trust, traffic tickets and most of all my ID theft with debt that wasn't mine! Was not able to get one attorney to assist with any of it. So I went to consumer attorneys dot com. Had to hire an attorney to do the will and trust for $750... I have never been so angry and disappointed with a service in my life, completely useless.

I'm a veteran who subscribed to this…

I'm a veteran who subscribed to this plan under the Federal Employee program. It sounds legit and functional, but in practice it is practically useless and borderline fraudulent. The attorney listing in my area (southern CA) was outdated with many of the listed legal firms out of business, out of the area (northern CA), or did not provide the practice area I needed even though listed in the Legal Plan attorney listing. In the FINE print, this plan does not allow you to cancel until the duration of the plan's coverage providing the Florida-based underwriter/administrator to suck premium payments out of your bank account. Also, your not able to directly speak with a live agent by phone, but only through chat with the agent's name not fully available (e.g., Linda G.). To end this plan supposedly they are to send you a renewal notice but that never arrived. Would advise to stay away from this MetLife plan.

Based on my experience with Metlife…I would run and not waste your money like I did!!

Based on my experience with MetLife Legal Plans, most of the attorneys listed either no longer work for the firm or do not accept the plan. I spent over a year, from October 2024 to November 2025, searching for help, repeatedly calling and checking every updated attorney list they provided. Ultimately, I found only one attorney who still worked with MetLife Plans, but they were fully booked and unable to accept new clients.

After paying out $1000.00 in fees to…

After paying out $1000.00 in fees to them, they've failed to provide me with legal representation on 2 occasions. They either aren't taking new clients or their intake is so far out that it won't work. I'm assuming this is just a giant scam where the attorneys they hire don't get paid much and try everything to get out of actually doing any work under the plan. Save your money and put a retainer down on a real attorney. They must only have ambulance chasers.

I find it funny on all of the nagitive…

I find it funny on all of the nagitive reviews on here about Metlife. These people more than likely didn't read their plan and tried to get an attorney to do something that wasn't in the plan. Ive uses metlife to file for bankruptcy, property line disputes and debt collections and have had all good experiences. The plan has high level attorneys like Juris Doctors and so on. I highly recommend this plan. If you dont use it, keep it because you never know when you will need an attorney.

Not worth the money

I contacted two attorneys on the approved list, one never returned my messages. The second attorney had his legal aid contact us, but it took them two months to get back to us regarding whether they could add a spouse's name to the property. The answer was no. In addition, they took two months to get back on a simple will and living trust. No thanks! You can save your money as this plan isn't what is promised.

I’ve found this service to be unhelpful.

I’ve found this service to be completely ineffective. Every time I try to secure an attorney whether for probate assistance, or small claims court… I’m told they can’t take my case, or I never receive a response at all. Despite paying for this plan, I’ve gotten nothing in return. They’re quick to collect my money but slow (or unwilling) to provide actual help. Unless something changes drastically, I will be canceling my plan at the start of the new year.

MET.LIFE LEGAL PLAN is an absolute…FRAUD

MET.LIFE LEGAL PLAN is an absolute scam. This is blatant fraud at its worst. Legal Definition: "The act of deceiving, usually to gain something of value, often money." As a longtime customer of MetLife, I was shocked and disappointed the first time I attempted to use their Legal service. I live in a part of north Florida, which has law schools and is overpopulated with lawyers. NONE of them were available through MetLife Legal. No one participates and no one is interested. Attorneys will only, briefly speak to you via a telephone conversation and then charge MetLife for a consultation. I visited an approved attorney in a nearby town for a consultation and was then immediately denied a simple consultation reimbursement. I signed up for the so-called premium plan. By the way, you will continue to be billed for one year despite cancelling. Block billing payments and report this rip-off scheme.

I've used this service twice

I've used this service twice. Both times the only thing I got was a free consultation. The frustrating part is most attorneys offer a free consultation anyway. So I'm paying for a service for nothing because I would get a free consultation anyway and if I want to hire the attorney I'm still paying out of pocket. Such a rip off.

“Advice” from Darell Yorkie

We had a lawyer named Darell Yorkie who was biased and unhelpful and only gave me moral advice instead of legal advice. He was fairly rude and unprofessional as well.

new "system" is not in place for me!

new "system" is in place that I , as a panel atty for more than 25 years, was told that I had to use, I go to the site, and was advised to click Create Account which is not there. I will have to resign as a plan atty since I get referrals and do the legal work yet cannot bill for it since I am not on this New SYSTEM! I call and am told I will be connected with what referred to as Panel Representative, and I wait but no person connects with me called a panel Rep. and the people I talk to say I must speak to the Panel Rep and that they are sending me to the Panel Rep but it never happens. Don't bother signing up

Don't bother signing up. Save your money. What they do not tell you is that if you do reach out to a lawyer, they don't have to work with you. I've reached out to several on my list for something simple. The lawyers simply refuse. So, basically, they have a list of lawyers that do not, and aren't willing to take on a case.

Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware: Hyatt Legal Plans is the single worst business I have ever done business with. They have acted in bad-faith with regards to our agreement and have refused dozens of requests from me to answer simple questions related to my plan. I am anticipating that I will have to litigate against Hyatt to recoup damages that they have caused me.Attorneys that are contracted by Hyatt have expressed to me that Hyatt will not pay them enough money for it to be worth it for them to work on my case.If you are an HR department seeking to include Hyatt as a benefit, I would urge you to read all of the Yelp reviews and all of the Better Business Bureau complaints in order to make an educated decision. If you are an individual considering Hyatt Legal Plans, I would urge you to do the same. Please note, I am not giving legal advice and this is an expression of my opinion and experience. The reason that Hyatt is the worst is because Hyatt has acted in bad-faith with regard to my policy and Hyatt has denied coverage due to ambiguous exclusion clauses in the plan. This practice is illegal. In the state of California where I reside, insurance laws state that the insurance policy issuer must clearly state any and all policy exclusions. In the event that there is any ambiguous language, California judges have ruled against insurance companies like Hyatt Legal Plans and Met Life because it is the policy issuer's responsibility to clearly express any exclusions and remove any ambiguity. The reason for this is because it is the policy issuer who writes the exclusion clauses and so they need to be written clearly and without any ambiguity. Consumers have been injured by insurance companies who write ambiguous exclusion clauses in their policies and interpret these ambiguities in their favor. To protect consumers, California has made it illegal for an insurance company to deny a claim based off of a policy ambiguity. In California, the ambiguity is ruled in favor of the consumer. I am not sure if the same laws apply in other states or jurisdictions. Please consult a local lawyer of your state to find out about your local insurance laws.Due to an ambiguity in the exclusion clauses of the policy, Hyatt has denied my claim. I have appealed this denial two times and I have asked for Hyatt to answer questions which would clear up their position on this policy ambiguity. I have also asked them to define their position in clear language. My requests have been rebuffed and ignored. Hyatt Legal Plans' attorneys have responded to my appeals, however, they have failed to answer my questions related to my policy. Hyatt Legal Plans has failed to provide a complete list of all exclusions and the applicability of each exclusion in my policy. Based off of the above, it is clear that Hyatt Legal Plans has acted in bad-faith and that they will continue to ignore my questions, wrongfully deny my claim, and refuse to be accountable for their actions.I have had to retain an attorney to write demand letters to Hyatt Legal Plans in order to demand that they provide coverage for my matter which is listed as "fully covered" in our agreement. My attorneys have informed me that Hyatt Legal Plans is completely in the wrong. California law is on my side, not Hyatt's.For anyone who is in a similar situation to me where Hyatt Legal Plans has denied coverage in bad-faith, I would urge you to demand that Hyatt provide coverage in a written letter. In the letter write that in the event that you incur costs due to the fact that Hyatt denied your claim in bad faith that you will file a lawsuit against them for damages. Then if you do incur costs, file a lawsuit against them where the costs you incurred are the damages. Additionally, punitive damages may also be awarded to you in this instance. I would urge you to speak with an attorney if you are in the same situation as me.The fact that any customer would have to go to the lengths that I have gone to in order to attempt to receive the services that were paid for is absolutely unacceptable. Hyatt Legal Plans is in need of a serious wake-up call to start doing the right thing by its customers. The actions of Hyatt Legal Plans are unconscionable, illegal, and are part of a pattern of acting in bad faith towards consumers. At the time of this writing, the majority of reviews are one star for Hyatt Legal Plans on Yelp. There is at least one other individual who has stated that they needed to file a lawsuit against Hyatt Legal Plans because Hyatt has denied coverage in bad-faith and failed to pay their claims. Please note that the above statements are an expression of my opinion. While I cannot guarantee that you will have a similar experience as me, previous behavior is a pretty good predictor of future behavior. Based off of what other reviewers and I have to say, you be the judge

Nothing but good experience

I've seen some bad reviews, but I've had nothing but very positive experiences. I have used Hyatt Legal Plan for two real estate transactions, one property tax assessment inquiry, and help drafting a Will for my wife and myself. For the $20/mo the plan costs, it has quite literally saved me thousands of dollars. I'm talking probably about $6000 on the real estate transactions alone. I have no idea what a Will costs, but I'd imagine it's very expensive as well.I was concerned that since I was using the equivalent of "Legal Insurance" that I might not get much attention or crappy network of attornies... not the case! Everyone has been super helpful and responsive. I haven't had much direct interaction with the actual company, but my services have all been covered, and if they aren't (like fighting a parking ticket), they'll let you know before you begin the process. 5 stars!

they will take your money, lie to you, and then deny you coverage

summary: this company is full of liars and con artists, and their customer service is abysmal and will literally just tell you lies to get you off the phone, then when called out on it they will do absolutely nothing to fix THEIR issues. the longer version: hyatt legal is one of the WORST companies i have ever had the displeasure to work with. they have absolutely no integrity whatsoever and could not care less about their customers. i opted in through my employer back in 2017 but never had occasion to use them until november 2018, when i contacted them to find out if my situation (adult adoption) would be covered. after i explained it the lady i spoke to told me that it would be covered as long as the attorney i chose did that type of work, and even went so far as to issue me a case number and send me a list of attorneys to choose from. this past month i chose one, set up the initial consultation, and went in. about a week later the attorney called me and told me that they had denied my claim as it would only be covered if i was the one doing the adopting, not being adopted. as this was not what i had been told when i contacted hyatt, i called them back and explained the whole situation and asked them what gives. the person i spoke to, Freddy, put me on hold to speak to a supervisor, then came back and told me that since they had misinformed me they would be covering my case after all. i was surprised, but pleased to hear this. i was further told that i didn't need to contact the attorney, they would reach out and let her know that it we were all set to proceed, AND that a supervisor would be following up with me directly to ensure that the matter was resolved. after a week and a half of not hearing from either a supervisor or attorney, i called the attorney myself to find out whether hyatt had contacted them. today i received a call that not only had they not been contacted, but they tried to submit the case again and were once again told i was not being covered. so yet again, i called hyatt to see if they could get their story straight once and for all. this time i was connected to a "supervisor" directly. his name was Vaughan and he was extremely condescending. he told me that i was not being covered and that they would make sure that someone would follow up with Freddy to make sure everyone was on the same page, but refused to acknowledge that at this point the company has literally LIED to me. TWICE. Vaughan did not offer any further recourse and was essentially useless. at this point i disconnected because i was at work and had essentially just wasted my entire lunch break being on hold and then spoken down to. a couple of hours later, i was called back by Gina, the supervisor with whom Freddy supposedly spoke. she said she had listened to my calls, and informed me that he had no authority to tell me any of what he told me. she once again tried to tell me that they would follow up with Freddy, which is absolutely useless to me, and tried several times to pin the whole matter on the attorney- supposedly it's "up to them to decide what is and isn't covered", but when i asked if i then ask the attorney to pretty please cover my situation would that solve the issue, naturally of course no it's still not going to be covered. she ALSO tried to tell me it's MY fault for not telling the first lady that i spoke to that i was the one being adopted. first of all, i'm 27, and i sound significantly younger on the phone; when i contacted the attorney in the first place one of the things she said in her initial voicemail back to me was "from your voice you sound young, so i'm guessing you're the one being adopted, congrats!" second, the lady i spoke to didn't ask ANY clarifying questions about my case, and having never dealt with the legal system before, i had no way to know that this was information i needed to provide. so that is also absolutely their fault either way you cut it. no one at hyatt made any effort whatsever to do ANYTHING to resolve the problem, which again, is the HYATT LEGAL LIED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES. they wouldn't even acknowledge that they lied, that their reps failed to ask any clarifying questions, or that they have any responsibility for this situation beyond "we'll follow up with Freddy". hyatt legal is the WORST.
