I'd give a lesser rating if possible
I'd give a lesser rating if possible! Used on two occasions a day apart in Adelaide. Both times the scooters didn't work and I was still charged. I'm trying to get a refund but I don't hold out any hope for that. I wish I read the reviews before deciding to hire! Don't use BEAM!

I would give this a negative rating if I could. Idk how I’m controlling my anger but they scammed us because our e scooters didn’t even work and charged us so much money and even thought of fining us. Even when u call them, they will hang up on you. This business is a complete scam. DO NOT USE

Complete Scam
Complete Scam – Stay AwayBeam makes you load your account with a set amount before riding, giving the impression that once that money runs out, your ride will stop. But that’s not what happens. They keep charging your card in the background even after your balance hits zero. There’s no clear warning, no limit enforcement — just a quiet drain on your account as long as you’re riding. It’s completely misleading and feels intentionally deceptive. Beam, do better. Be honest about how your billing system works. This isn’t just poor UX — it’s a scam.

Massive over charging
Was advertised as 10 dollars for first 100 minutes use. One 17 minute trip was charged at 34 dollars. Customer service non-existent.

A lot of trouble for little reward
Took grandson for an outing on a beam scooter App was dodgy almost half the scooters were vandalised or had missing helmets and some scooters were impossible to tell if they were able to operate without paying money to use then finding out the scooter in question was not operable, therefore wouldn't be in a hurry to go through the trouble again.

So incredibly expensive
So incredibly expensive. I thought it would be a cheap and easy way to get around an area not serviced by Uber, DiDi etc but it’s not. Inflexible customer service, too. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss - read the terrible reviews while you wait for a cab.

Scam company
Scam company, I signed up and paid to use a scooter and it was broken, top speed was slower than walking. Tried to email support dozens of times and never got a response. Stay away.

THEY OVERCHARGE
I went on a ride with a friend, and the scooter died halfway through. We ended the ride, and paid. A week of so later I realised I was getting charged for my ride for some reason. I asked Beam what was going on, and no one replied. I opened another support ticket, and the response I got was an automated one. When I said that they were overcharging me, and breaching New Zealand’s Fair Trading Act, they closed the ticket and did not respond. DO NOT USE BEAM.
