I wanted so much a game from a missed Kickstarter, I took a chance with The Game Steward. I was anxious to know if they were reliable et did some research before ordering. I'm very happy about the customer service that answered my question quickly. My package was so well wrapped that my game was in perfect condition when received. Thank you

Is The Game Steward Legit? My Experience as a Collector & Small Business Owner...
Hey all,I recently purchased over $400 USD worth of new Marvel United games from The Game Steward.After nine days, I received a shipping notification and was excited for the delivery. Unfortunately, that excitement didn’t last long.When the package arrived, I was surprised to see the shipping box had been custom-cut to fit the ~22 lbs of games flush, with only a single thin sheet of bubble wrap between the games and the box itself (pictured).Unsurprisingly, damage occurred.The large X-Men promo box—central to my order and purchased at more than twice the original Kickstarter price—arrived with two damaged corners and a damaged edge. I left the box sealed, as there’s a good possibility the internal plastic card holder is also cracked.I immediately contacted The Game Steward, politely requesting an exchange. The damage was clearly the result of insufficient packaging, not carrier mishandling.Rather than acknowledge the packaging oversight, they refused any exchange and offered a $13.59 partial refund—period. They stated the damage was not their responsibility, despite the lack of adequate protective materials. I insisted I’d like an exchange, and six days later, they’ve ghosted me and are now not even offering the token refund.For some, this might seem minor. For a collector purchasing premium-priced items, it significantly impacted my enjoyment of the product.What makes this particularly disappointing is that I’m also a small business owner. I understand margins, competition, and the challenges of operating without the scale of large corporations. But I also believe customer service—especially when mistakes happen—is where small businesses can truly differentiate themselves, even when it costs something in the short term.I know others have had positive experiences with The Game Steward, and I’m glad for that. I’m sharing mine because I believe transparency matters, and because I hope the company course-corrects toward the strong customer service reputation it once had, living up to their claimed tagline of “Trusted Quality & Service”.

Alright, so have you ever missed a crowdfunding campaign where you just wished you spent more time wasted on endless scrolling to see that new interesting board game you want to buy so badly? Or you just don't want to risk your money and wait 2 3 years until you get it (when lets face it, you can spend that amount right there and then on something else?)... WELL these guys have you covered and guess what, their prices are MORE THAN FAIR. stop wasting countless hours researching other vendors (trust me, this process can take a day or two and you'll end up confused). Spend your valuable money with them, you wont regret it and it does not just end there. they are not selling games (full stop) they are in the business of Customer Experience, and I am in the same field and have to admit something... they have just orchestrated what I call an orchestral symphony in Customer experience... now I don't understand the story behind the other reviews, but here is my story.I can be very picky sometimes, and with FOMO I tend to send a couple of questions in one go since I an abroad and can call them easily. So i resorted to email. They were extremely professional and light spirited when I know others would have probably given up. (this was before the spring sale), then during the spring sale, FOMO kicked in bad. I rushed and placed an order. then a day later realized oh SNAP there was something else I forgot and emailed them about it, they responded immediately, but then I also found something else I wanted... Im telling you sales brings the best FOMO in people, and wihtout hesitation they supported. Now I hear you saying but this isn't special, we got the same support elsewhere... True BUT!!!Yes a big BUTT!!!, again, remember what I said in the beginning "Orchestral Symphony in Customer Experience". The customer support team reached out saying they noticed that I pledged for Foundations of Rome Maximus edition and Roads of fortune expansion, where this expansion was included in the maximus edition and were wondering if it was a duplicate purchase or a purchase in error and offered me an immediate refund if it was purchased in error.I am sorry folks but here I would like to challenge you. The reason I referenced orchestral symphony is because the have mastered internal communications between warehouse - sales - delivery and customer support. This is why I know I found my go to place for all kickstarter campaigns that I missed.And yes I lied, its not 2 minutes but wanted your attention as anything more you would not bother reading ;)Good luck with your purchase!

Six weeks and they keep telling me "oh just 1-2 weeks more". Will never buy from again. Who knows if I will even get my $400 order.Update per TGS' reply:Absolutely correct. I received my order of over $400 worth of "in-stock" items just eight weeks after placing my order, and with only three lies about its shipping status during that period! If this sounds like the company for you, choose The Game Steward! For my part, they lost a customer permanently. 1 star stays.

So far we are a month into my order for items that were in stock. Still no shipment and it may take another half a month to even ship out. They just blame it on a big sale they recently had and will get to mine in the order it was placed. Not very happy with the service so far. Ill update when I actually get my goods. Edited review:Other than the 2 month shipping time frame, this company has been great. Ive placed a few orders after this and they usually ship the same day. They take great care packing orders as well. Updating to 4 stars

Disappointing Experience with Damaged Shipment
I'm extremely disappointed with my recent shipment! Despite my special request for proper packing as it was international, the package arrived severely damaged. What's even more appalling is that the company blamed the transit process for the damage, rather than taking responsibility for their own packing mistakes. offering a mere 20% refund, leaving me to bear the brunt of the 80% loss due to their subpar packing. Unacceptable.

I ordered a kick starter expansion that I needed to complete my collection. After looking every where else and not wanting to spend a lot of money on a used one. I pre-ordered it from the Game Steward. I was skeptical but wanted this item so badly that I went for it. It took one day shy of 6 weeks to get it but I got it today and I am THRILLED! I would 100% recommend The Game Steward for anyone to use. Don't pay scalper prices for used games on eBay. The price was reasonable and packaged very well. Also customer service was fantastic. Anytime I called for an update, I spoke to a real person. Never any automated menus to go through at all. My collection of Marvel United X-Men is now 100% complete thanks to the great people at the Game Steward! Thank you!!!!

Very bad shipping
I pre-ordered stuff worth $250 in early June. They told me it would arrive in the warehouse the following week. The week came and went. When I emailed them about this, they said they have a queue of pre-orders and that it would take until mid to late July to ship. Like 8 weeks after I placed the order. What??? I paid that much, and they couldn’t even expedite my order when I requested they do so. As a result, I got a full refund, which was the only good thing to come out of this (hence the extra star). It’s funny how they were quick to refund me in less than a minute, and yet I would have to wait 8 weeks to get my stuff. Crazy. I honestly have better experiences on eBay where a lot of the games are at least the same price as Game Steward’s and I get them much quicker.

The Game Steward is a good site offering a varied choice of games, including rare ones not distributed in France.Customer service is responsive to emails sent and orders placed. No waiting!You'll just have to choose your carrier carefully and be patient...USPS in mail priority isn't necessarily bad and it's pretty well placed in terms of rates, but you must be know you won't get any updates until the package arrives in France.I recommend The Game Steward and you can order with your eyes closed 👍👍

Worth the wait!
Usually people share their bad experiences faster as you can see below in the other reviews - that's why I'll share my "positive" experience. It's mostly positive because I knew I'd have to wait and I didn't mind the hiccups along the way, for others this could have been a negative experience if they wanted their product delivered fast. Only order if you're okay with delays on shipping, this isn't the best place to buy birthday presents (unless you buy them months ahead).I preordered something on March 7th and I got it around May 20th. That's 2+ months of waiting, but hey, I know what I signed up for and I had no issue waiting. I got an email on the 23rd of March asking me to verify my shipping address because a shipment of the board game has arrived, they also notified me there will be a delay. They may have forgotten about me or IDK, I had to email them on the 25th of April to ask for an update, which is around when they started the shipping process. My order wasn't handed in for shipping but I had the tracking info, etc. They actually handed my order to FedEx on the 4th of May and I got it on the 19th.Personally I'd order again but only for myself knowing all of the hiccups with shipping.Just make sure you check up on them every once in a while and you'll be fine.Thanks for the Board Games!

Order got cancelled, dishonest company
Update: I must admit that I'm surprised by the reply from the game steward because of their dishonesty.The game steward states that they communicated that they are not a distributor and that the low-priced items they offer are not for one person to buy-up or potentially resell at a higher price elsewhere. Firstly, they did not communicate. They just emailed me that there's a purchase limit on the item I ordered, so my order got cancelled, but, quoting from their email, "We do not have such a restriction on the All-In Bundle, so you are welcome to purchase as many of those as you wish".Secondly, I had straightforwardly informed the Game Steward of my status as a reseller back on 01/05/2023 by email, and then they successfully fulfilled my first 2 orders for 20 copies of the same item despite my status.It's disappointing to see that the Game Steward is being dishonest about their awareness of my status as a reseller. While they claim to care about other customers being able to buy discounted products, their actions show otherwise.I hope that other potential customers will take this experience into consideration when deciding whether to do business with the Game Steward.------ Initial Review ------I had a terrible experience with the Game Steward that I feel compelled to share with others. I placed an order on 04/25/2023 and waited for a week with no updates on my order. I placed another order and still received no communication from the company. When I emailed them on 05/04/2023 asking to expedite my order, I received no response. I had to email them again on 10/05/2023 to inquire about my orders, only to be told that they had been cancelled due to a purchase limit of 5 on the item I had ordered, which was not communicated to me at any point.What's worse, it was only because I initiated communication with them that I received any response at all. The Game Steward seemed to have no interest in fulfilling my order or keeping me informed about its status. They simply took my money and sat there arrogantly cancelling my orders.I am highly disappointed in the Game Steward's lack of transparency and communication regarding their purchase limits. It's unacceptable that they cancelled my orders without prior notice, especially since their shipping policy for in-stock orders states that they will ship within 3 business days after receiving the order. I would caution others to consider other options for purchasing games and to be wary of the Game Steward's lack of communication and transparency.

Don’t buy unless you aren’t fussed with poor comms and delivery times
**Edited again - They’ve put up a new reply saying I only received the refund. Weird how, apparently, I had received both in their initial response that they have since deleted following my response. 100% sketchy. Would not recommend this company at all. **Edited again - it looks as if their reply has disappeared since by update below?** **Edited to add response to reply below: I have not received any order from Game Steward so have not got the item as well as being refunded. This is nonsense. I’ve just checked the tracking details given by the Game Steward and it is not showing that it has been received. So again, nonsense. It is showing as “item preadvice received” which is the same update and date as those received back in January. I never received this item. Only months of being mucked about and then ignored. ***My 8 year old had some Xmas money leftover so, at the start of January, he asked to buy the Marvel United Playmat from The Game Steward. We are in the UK so knew it could take a bit of time. It was in stock but took 20 days just to dispatch. I emailed and was told that they were working on dispatching a back log of games but it would be dispatched shortly. On 25th January, I received a tracking number. The tracking number hasn’t updated from “we are expecting your item” since then. After a good few weeks keeping an eye on tracking, I emailed TGS and they didn’t respond so I emailed again. I waited for 4/5 days and still no response. My son was upset and asked me to get his money back; this is despite the Playmat being the only thing he needs to complete his MU collection. With no response from TGS, I opened a PayPal dispute. Funnily enough, I got a response pretty quickly agreeing that there looks to be a problem so FedEx will investigate and they will let me know. We’re now nearly at 2 weeks later and no contact at all, so I’ve escalated to PayPal. I get they are busy with current KS and dealing with fulfilments and dispatch and my son’s order is a drop in the ocean for them, but communication goes a long way. The wait I expected (although over 2 months for an instock item is pushing it) but, given the good reviews on the likes of BGG and Board Game Revolution, I didn’t expect poor customer service and lack of communication. I won’t be ordering from them again.
