Excellent food
Excellent food! We all had a different meal but 5 * for each meal.Bar staff really helpful, and professional.Highly recommend.

Vaelntines at the Olive Tree
We went to the Olive Tree in Sutton Green for our valentines dinner. We had been there in the past and had some lovely meals. It was a good start, the front of house staff were welcoming and friendly. But I am afraid it went downhill from there. Having found all the other restaurants that we tried were booked solid it was a surprise to find the place so quiet. It was less than half full. a day or 2 later i got an e mailed follow up asking for a review but after several attempts that system failed to workquite a while after our first drink there was still no sign of a request for our food orders and i asked for a glass of red wine. There was no choice and that was OK but when i asked what it was i was told it was "house wine" but no one seemed to know anything about it. it was quite nice and later on when i asked for another and on my request the bottle was produced by another waitress so that i could answer my question for myself. - it is on the label !I do not blame the waitresses but their training must have been non existent to atrocious. Whoever put the specials board up had totally failed to describe any of the dishes on it or inform the front of house staff given its total vagueness.I could see the specials board from my seat so before we ordered i asked our waitress what 2 of the options were - what the "home made Goan curry" included and how the "chicken" was cooked thinking milanese, supreme or ???. She had to go and ask and came back to tell me the chicken was grilled and the curry came with chicken Long waits for anything despite no shortage of front of house staff. My starter (my wife was not having one) arrived eventually and was OK Then the mains arrived and it was apparent that the grilled chicken was generic and that it was also used for the curry which had an admittedly generous portion of grilled chicken plonked on top of it. No question of it being cooked with the curry to absorb the flavours ! Instead it was overcooked, dried up and beginning to be charredThe rice resembled porridge.To sum up, a friendly welcome and service which was marred by long waits, and lack of information about what was being offered and the total irony of the food being overcooked while we had waited for ages for the privilege of that damage to it. Front of house - friendly and welcoming but needed trainingKitchen - long delays and poor quality. Forget home cooking and stock up with ready meals !

Great Venue for Family Party Lunch
My friend booked the rear private room of the pub for his partners Birthday Lunch. When people started to arrive (around 40 guests), we were all given a very warm welcome and the room had been set-up perfectly. The Manager and her staff, including Andrew the Chef, made our party just perfect and the Sunday Roast was Amazing!!

Disappointed.
Went last night and was told "It was a steak & seafood night and that's all they were cooking" both steaks were hard to cut and very chewy the fish arrived cold. Blue cheese sauce was lack of blue cheese. Definitely not worth the wait as advertised on the menu and expensive too!

Poor Sunday visit …
We were shown promptly to our table and the drinks order taken. Our table was booked for 1.30pm on a Sunday and we were told at 1.45pm that the beef was no longer on the menu! We ordered our roasts as there was hardly any other alternative to fish dishes to then see lamb also not available by 2pm. This is on a Sunday lunchtime! They also ran out of apple sponge!! The starters were small & overpriced & 2 meals of lamb were cold. The only thing that warmed it was the gravy. I especially liked the hair in my lamb. One of the party had the smallest tiramasu she had ever seen & there was no butter or fruit with the cheeseboard. Compared to other restaurants it was very, very poor. The only reason I didn't complain was my father-in-law was paying for it and I couldn't embarrass him. I would not come back.

this was my 4th visit but enough is enough
this was my 4th visit to this restaurant over many years since they opened.. My first visit was encouraging, they had just relocated to this place from another location up the road.There were issues but we felt that perhaps any such issues present , they were " teething problems", as we live locally we thought we should go back again. On our second visit as a family the food was average as expected for a restaurant operating outside London. It prompted us to a third visit and we seriously felt that our third visit should be the last. my daughters chicken was raw in places, my fish overcooked. Admittedly this should have been our last but as there were no other places to book in last weekend - mid november 2018, had to go back. We revisited the olivetreesuttongreen, out of need but no real desire,as a group, on an outing with our dear neighbours. The service was dismal, we would place an order and then 30 minutes later to be told that " this is no longer available"... our friends scallops and squid were brought over without the scallops , the restaurant admitted that they had no scallops, my wife's " sole in tomato sauce and chorizo" was brought with no chorizo, they run out" of chorizo too, desert was similarly sparse . You could choose lemon sorbet, mango sorbet, lemon sorbet...but all that was brought to the table was Chocolate icecream. The icecream was brought without any previous warning or even asking us if we would like to have it.I asked for the manager but having waited 15 minutes for him to come over , I had to go across and find him as he had made himself unvailable. Tables next to us were experiencing similar issues.This was my 4th visit but enough is enough.
