Don’t trust this garage

My son aged 18 purchased an seatIbiza reg FD13 XDS from this garage. Upon viewing the paint work was great, nice tidy car, 12 months MOT with advisory’s 2 tyres close to legal limit, he messaged them and asked for new. They declined but said they would put some part worn on. Full service history. 1st Feb 2026 he put deposit down, he collected it 5th February, by the 20th the exhaust was blowing, we checked under the vehicle and they were a hole in the back box, visible and corroding. Obviously this should have been checked via him and his dad. But they put trust in the garage. 28 days warranty. My son took the car back Saturday 21st Feb. They said it would take 1-2 weeks to have a look at it, later that day he got a call saying all exhausts have several layers that it’s not a leak. They will test drive the car. We returned on Monday 23rd Feb after reading up on all reviews on trust pilot. My son had only looked at auto trader. We did our research. They is a Facebook page called;cleckheaton motor trader ripped me off. I couldn’t believe all the reviews and hassle that people have experienced. A vehicle not fit for purchase within 28 days you entitled to a refund. Over 30 days you’ve to give them a chance to repair it. No garage takes 2 weeks to repair. You can go to any exhaust place and get it done within 2 days if the part needs ordering. 2 weeks 4 days he had the car, and when we returned it. They still had the log book in a file with all the others. They don’t send them off until after 28 days for this reason. If they submit them straight away. The vehicle would have another owner. Which would devalue the car on resale. My advice is get the car checked over, pay £25 for a log book, because we’ve had to fill out a separate form for the refund along with sending the evidence. When we returned the car was blocked in the same place with all others. The boss asked who MOT the car to Ella or Ellie. She responded them. Obviously doggy. I don’t know how he can sleep on a night knowing he’s selling cars with problems. They issued the refund using the card machine(signature verification). They said we couldn’t have bank transfer. Immediately he put the car back up for sale. We got the refund 4 days later.

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague, they are crooks who only buy cars that other garages won’t touch, they cover up any faults by resetting computers and hope no one notices before it’s too late to take back. Trading standards need to shut them down before they rip off any more people. Go to a reputable garage and do yourself a favour. Only giving one star because won’t let you give none.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE SCUM BAGS

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE SCUM BAGS, IT COULD HAVE COST MY 18 YEAR OLD SON HIS LIFE !!!! A few weeks ago my son was driving on a dual carriage way (thank god it wasn’t a motorway) when the sub frame snapped and sent the car spinning, when the AA came to collect the car they said that my son (who has only been driving since July last year) did an excellent job of stopping the car, and that it could have been a fatal accident if he had been on a motorway. We then had the car taken to a mechanic where we have just collected it from to be shown a completely corroded sub frame and entire front end, one of the suspension arms had absolutely NO suspension and was told that THE CAR SHOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOT BEEN SOLD TO US AS IT WAS AND THAT WE ARE VERY LUCKY MY SON IS STILL ALIVE. We are absolutely fuming as we had already had to have the head gasket replaced which they did carry out, otherwise we would have demanded our money back. I do not ever want to step foot back in that garage again and just wanted to warn anyone thinking of buying their child a first car there. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM !!!!

Nothing but scammers and professional…

Nothing but scammers and professional con artists!I contacted them in November as I was interested in the DS3 they had on autotrader, priced at £3995. They had described this car in ‘showroom condition’ with a full service and MOT just recently done.Myself, parter and dad drove all the way from Sheffield to Bradford to look at this car, and might I add that I had to call them a few times as they would not pick up the phone to confirm that all was ok for us to visit them. When we got to the showroom, we noticed that the car was outside, in a very very cramped area with a load of other cars, which were absolutely filthy and with a lot of rust, priced at exactly the same price as mine. They let us take the car for a test drive, and when we got into the car, it didn’t even look like it had had a proper valet as described. There were food crumbs everywhere and smears on the dashboard. Disgusting, however this was something I was happy to sort myself. My partner and dad checked the car over, as this was something they were more clued up on than myself - and found no obvious signs of damage, so we decided to purchase, in good faith, and with my dad even shaking hands with the owners afterwards. They did laugh, as they mentioned someone else had already put a deposit down for this car, and stated they were not going to receive this money back. This was on a Saturday, and we drove it away with no issues. The following Monday, I took a look at their reviews from Google, as I had only checked Autotrader and trusted them - as I was just passing, and found that they not only trade under 3 different business names, Car Sales Cleckheaton, Ghost Motors & Cleckheaton Motor Sales, but all of their reviews stated the same sort of issues from other customers after purchase of their car.I rang my mechanic in a panic as I suddenly did not feel safe driving my car , and he had it up on the ramps, checking underneath the chassis and under the bonet. We quickly discovered that there was a severe oil leak on the car, which had been reported by the previous owner In 2020, so it was very clear that they had not touched any of the jobs reported on the MOT. There was no service done since that time either as they finally sent us the log book, so upon inspection, the fans were twisted in the car, and the oil had very clearly not been changed in well over 2 years as it was thick like tar. The mechanic mentioned If I had driven this further without changing it there was every chance the car could have packed in entirely. I had to fork out £200 straight away for a full service, which they mentioned that the damage was that bad, it would need flushing in two weeks. We also noticed over £1500 worth of damage to the car that could not be seen unless properly examined, which is what my mechanic did, and found issues such as corroded front wishbones, both rear trailing axle brushes, break pads and discs corroded and close to legal limit - I could go on.I rang car sales cleckheaton the day after this, and asked them why did they not advise of these issues before and why did they lie about it, and they hung up on me straight away, and wanted nothing more to do with it. On the Friday (so 6 DAYS) after, my car check engine warning light came on and the car went into limp mode, whilst I was on a 50mph road :/ I took it to the mechanic and it turned out the car was misfiring and the thermostat was broken, as Cleckheaton had put water in the coolant pot and botch jobed the whole inside of the car.I rang them up asking them what were they going to do about this, they offered no form of refund, and said to go through the warranty company, swearing at me as soon as I asked for a refund, and also doing the same to my partner. I have reported this to the police, and will be reporting to trading standards, as I am now left with a £1500 bill that I have to pay myself, because the warranty company also refuses to pay out the costs for the damage, as they state the original place of sale have sold me a faulty car. They lied about the MOT. They lied about the service being done so the entire car had to be flushed out, and they have scammed me out of £5000.

I can't do less than 1 star....deserves…

I can't do less than 1 star....deserves no stars!!!Bought a 'showroom condition' car in October 23 as a first car for my 17 year old daughter. Come with a new MOT which was obviously a fake one....5 weeks later its been scrapped as unroadworthy, dangerous and would cost more to repair than its worth.I've reported the company and the MOT tester to the authorities and I'm £3500 out of pocket.Crooks, criminals, putting people's lives at risk!!@

AVOID un roadworthy cars with dodgy MOT's

Purchased a car with a brand new 12 months MOT so thought should be OK ... wrong. The day after I Purchased it had it booked into garage as CV joint was clicking on full lock, this was known about at purchase and £95 knocked off price off the car fair enough. The reputable garage then preceeded to find 4 major faults with the car that would have never passed an MOT, they were shocked at what they found, rear shocks completely blown and had been for a long time, front suspension top mounts completely disintegrated, front breaks both in a dangerous condition. This was 3 days after an MOT pass and the car only doing 40 miles I smell a dodgy MOT. Cost me £1000 to rectify all the faults and make the car roadworthy for my child I didn't want the seller to do the work as they are dodgy as F##K and wouldn't have trusted them, The warranty states engine and gearbox only. When I contacted them to see if they'd be willing to help with the costs of repair all I got was we'll give you a refund for the car lol, sure you will and receive a car back that's roadworthy with all new suspension and breaks and probably sell for more. Since the repairs also had a gearbox issue but was cheaper to repair it than the recovery costs to get it back to them and again wouldn't trust them as don't believe they have a qualified mechanic on the books bodge it and scarper. Lessons learnt bought cars for years but always used proper reputable dealers never had any issues with them that's what I'll stick to in future.

Disgusting company with a rude ginger owner that has a ridiculous accent

I purchased a car in November 2022 and very quickly things started to go wrong with it. I approached the garage and was ignored several time despite texts and voicemails being left so I approached the finance company and was 'fobbed off' over and over again. Eventually, the ombudsman told me to get an ACE vehicle inspection so I did, I am currently awaiting this in order to take this company to court. The coolant was found to he contaminated due to cement which has been poured in the engine to hide the leaks at the point of sale, the car needed 4k worth of work doing to it, I have children to get to school so I had to get the work done. The car was in the garage and a non starter from January to February, March to April and May - now as it is beyond repair. The garage have confirmed the car was shocking and absolutely not fit for purpose at the point they received it. This is absolutely laughable. The car has been tampered with to get it sold. The stamps on the service book are fraudulent, the garage named on the stamp have stated they have never had this car in their garage, does that not set the scene and account for something? This company us quick to take your money and then they block you so you cannot contest, absolutely disgusting. All you have to do is check all the other reviews to setnthe scene. Absolute rip off. I now have a car on my drive which I am having to pay finance on and can't use, I'm also having to pay for a new car and my mortgage etc in a cost of living crisis. Absolutely shocking.

Rip off stay away

We bought a car from Cleckheaton Moter Sales 2 weeks ago all fine at the time within 4 days of having the car the clutch went completely costing over £600 to fix I tried calling the company when it went they wouldn't answer the phone only text me saying that we would need to talk to the warranty company which we did I need to get hold of Cleckheaton motor sales now as they did not give us a locking wheel nut eater but they have now blocked my number. I want my money back for the car because they have sold us a dud but funny that I can't get hold of them now! Stay away all

Bought a car then changed my mind due to the reviews & the lads were amateurs when I arrived. So glad I did as I paid a deposit & they said it was non refundable but my finance company got it back for me & went to a five star garage & nothing is too much trouble for them from start to finish

Don’t bother

Don’t bother, doesn’t even deserve the one star! Purchased a car from this company to be faced with problems with the timing chain and incurred nearly £200 expense to get it back to them, which they are refusing to reimburse. They have re-advertised the returned car with 2000 less miles on it than when I returned it! I now face the small claims court to get my expenses back, very inconvenient!!

Decent car, terrible customer service

My daughter travelled from Wigan to see a Clio.It looked like a nice car.She was promised 12 months MOT on purchase. This never materialised and when she travelled to pick the car up being told it would be ready, it was not and needed some repairs and a "New" alternator. After picking the car up was promised mot certificate would be sent on, I. Still waiting. It drove nice on the test drive and even now after a year of owning it still drives good. The staff at this "Scrapyard" are ignorant and know nothing about cars at all.If your buying from here take your own mechanic if possible because they know nothing about cars.Personally I'd avoid if possible.

Scrap yard stock at inflated prices

Scrap yard stock at inflated prices. Went to look for a runaround for my son, and only looked at the first half dozen to realise that the place must be run by a bunch of amateurs. The staff were scruffy and I think just on work experience - zero knowledge about cars. Feel I had a lucky escape.

Dangerous and Unsafe Cars Sold on Wholesale Scale

Purchased an 'Immaculate, Rust Free' 80k vehicle from Trade cars for £2500. Within weeks it became apparent that the vehicle had some mechanical issues, which I was wishing to claim on the warranty. That wasn't what it seemed either and that was the start of it all.Initially they seemed helpful and willing to help. Then the person I was dealing with apparently left the company along with the customer service. We took the car for an inspection as asked. and the engineer refused to finish the examination due to the dangerous condition of the vehicle stating it should never have passed an MOT and warned if he continued It would be unlikely I would be allowed to leave the premises. It included large and serious structural defects, melted brake lines casualties of bodging faulty brake calipers with a gas axe, suspension snapped and components such as sub frame insecure, suspension components insecure along with oil leaks, abs faults, steering faults and so on. I was told to drive it carefully home and ask for a refund.Trade cars went from being helpful to fobbing me off and then to aggressive. First denying I had bought the car from them, and then later threatening to remove it from my drive, i assume, so I had no evidence for trading standards.Don't take my word for it - December 20th 2019, Trade Cars were prosecuted for selling cars on what the staff called 'death row' and fined a total of £22,500....and that wasn't the first time either! Trading standards had given countless warnings before prosecuting.Find a decent trader.

You geta LOT LESS tahn what you pay fha

If I could have given no stars I would have. The saying goes that you get what you pay for but in this case its "you get a lot less for what you pay for". Travelled ovver 100 miles to buy a car and after the test drive complained about a noise coming from the exhaust. (The car was also missing the internal rear view mirror - not shown in the photo advertisement) They said they would repair the problem with the exhauset while I waited, wjhich I thoughy was nice of them. It was only on the drive home that I realised that whatever they did was VERY TEMPORARY as the noise returned very quickly. Worst still was the surprise waiting for me when I took it to my local garage to find out what the problem was. It turns out that instaed of fitting a simple clip to connect the front and rear of the exhaust, they did in fact, weld it together rendering the whole exhaust useless. I have had to go to considerable expense to replace the WHOLE exhaust. This car was sold with an MOT and Im not even sure how valid that is given it had no advisorys for the missing mirror? I did try to get my money back but absolutely NO CHANCE! The whole experience felt like they couldnt wait to take my oney and push me out the door. Dodgy servicee with even Dodgier practice.
