Please don’t use this company

This has been the worst supplier we’ve ever dealt with. We were left without heating for over two weeks in the middle of winter due to their complete failure to do their job. The managing director, James, was particularly appalling. I wish I could share the call recording I have from this morning, during which he made several misogynistic remarks and spoke in an extremely condescending manner. His behaviour was disgraceful - he blatantly lied more than once, refused to take any responsibility, and continually shifted blame onto others. When I tried to voice my concerns, he interrupted me and spoke as though I was incapable of understanding, all while avoiding any accountability.I’m relieved to say I’ll never have to deal with this company again.

Incompetent Liars

Paid a premium to have my oil delivered on the 4th April, it’s now 9th April and no sign of my oil! No apologies, no valid reason given, They just don’t care!

No delivery

No delivery - again !!Getting a bit tired of their excuses, "computers down", "wagon broke down", "driver did not turn up". It is endless and incompetent. Going elsewhere for my kerosene now.

After being let down by another…

After being let down by another supplier I contacted United Fuels and explained that I had no oil and my partner was pregnant. So when they turned up less than 1 hour later I couldn’t thank them enough. Highly recommended

Terrible company and customer service

Completely agree with Gareth below, exactly the same experience. As others have mentioned terrible company. They do not deliver when they say they will. They do not call when they say they will. When you eventually speak to Tom he will give you all the excuses under the sun, from clutches on wagons to breakdowns. Honestly, shop around and pay more if you have to, just avoid this company and save yourself the stress

Disappointed

It's with a heavy heart I leave this negative review of United Fuels but feel compelled to do so after a recent incident. I've used United for several years now as they are a local company and I try where possible to support local. While they are never the best at communication and their delivery timelines are always longer than they initially specify, that's fine as I always order way before my oil gets too low. Their prices are always very competitive. Drivers are also very friendly. Then a few weeks ago (end of Feb) we ordered a 1000 litres of oil for delivery on about the 15th March. I didn't hear anything from United Fuels until the 11th March when a telephone message was left saying they were struggling to get supplies, like all suppliers apparently, and would have to cancel my order. When I went on their website though it seemed possible to order heating oil by phone and through their website albeit at a significantly higher price than when I placed my order 2 weeks previously. My take is that the price has increased since my purchase and they did not want to honour my order because that price was now a lot lower than the current market price. If they'd been upfront and honest about this I would have understood and accepted it. However, they tried to insult my intelligence by saying there was no supply. This is a lie as they are still selling heating oil by the looks of things, like all heating oil suppliers. There was also no consideration of the predicament that would leave me in if my oil level was low. As a loyal customer I'd expected better. After this, I will not be using this company for my heating oil. I am hugely disappointed that a local company would behave in such an improper way.

United Fuels in Skipton…

I dealt with United Fuels in Skipton for the first time last year, when purchasing red diesel. Really easy to set up an account and staff were very friendly as well as helpful. Even when fuel supply was going crazy they made an effort to keep me informed.

Disgusting service.

Ordered and paid for oil 3 weeks ago and they gave us a delivery date before 19th October. It didn't arrive so rang up and they promised it would arrive today. Then got a message saying the tanker had broken down. (They used this lie last time they delivered oil. We only used them again because the delivery driver was good.) An hour later got a phone call saying a tanker had attempted to deliver oil but was too big to get to our house. They said because we hadn't asked for a small tanker (we had) when we ordered they were cancelling our order and sending a refund. In the meantime prices have shot up and we are out of pocket. Absolutely disgusting service and will never use again.

Shockingly unreliable

I ordered heating oil on 25 Sept 2021 to be delivered on or before 11 Oct 2021, needless to say it did not happen and there was no call to explain why. On 12 Oct 2021 I phoned them to be told it would be with me by 14 Oct 2021, guess what another no show. Another call on 15 October 2021 got me a rock solid guarantee and a text to confirm delivery on 18 Oct 2021, but once again a no show. Over three weeks after ordering we are now out of oil and are not aware when they might put themselves out and deliver. The laugh is that during the wait they have sent me an email prompting me to order as prices are likely to rise an delivery times extended. The lack of care shown to their customers by this company is breathtaking. Take my advice, buy elsewhere, even if it is a little more expensive.

Applied for a job here and was asked to…

Applied for a job here and was asked to attend last Tuesday at 6pm the day before this was changed to Thursday again at 6pm. I travelled to the where the interview was to be conducted only to find out that James Ferguson who was meant to be conducting the interview had gone home. Nobody thought to inform me of this having travelled 30 miles for the interview. I left voicemails and not even a courtesy call to explain what happened.I should have read the reviews from other customers etc to see that this was never going to end well. Also if you read the reviews on here the only decent review is by the actual owner of the company so obviously a fake review

Truly appalling lack of care

I ordered 1200 litres of fuel on Friday 29th January. I paid extra for 3-day delivery so my oil was due to arrive “on or before” Wednesday 3rd February. It didn’t arrive in time but I was given no call or explanation or apology. I wrote emails chasing my order on 3rd and 4th February explaining that my elderly parents were shielding at my house and my oil levels were very low but I received no reply. I called repeatedly on Friday 5th but couldn’t get through. I left a voicemail query that wasn’t replied to, pointing out that my order was late and cold weather was imminent.I received no communication from United Fuels so I called again in Monday 8th February. I was told weather had been an issue during previous week (really?!) and drivers were in training on Monday and Tuesday but was given a “cast iron promise” (their words) that it would be delivered on Wednesday 10th (a week late). My oil ran out on Tuesday 9th Feb. The order did not arrive on 10th. Or 11th. Yet again, I received no call or notice or explanation. So it fell to me to call United Fuels on Friday 12th to find out what was happening.Again, I was told a delivery had been attempted but the weather had prevented them. I asked why nobody had been in touch to tell me that. And I explained that I found that hard to believe as I’d been receiving mail and Amazon deliveries all week and I live on a farm route and milk trucks had been passing without problems. I was told the issue was in Skipton rather than in the rural Dales. I explained that I had been in and around Skipton that week and had seen no evidence of road problems. The upshot was I was once again promised that my delivery would be made early this week, by Tuesday 16th February.Once again, I received neither my oil nor any communication on 16th. So I called United again yesterday for an update. I was told wagons had broken down and drivers were in quarantine. I’m afraid I don’t believe those excuses and, in any event, the lack of contact given they know I have elderly parents and no oil was completely unacceptable.I asked the lady to find out - honestly - when my oil would be delivered. An hour later, she called back to tell me that because I was the only order they currently had in my area, they had decided they couldn’t fulfil my order and I would need to find another supplier. So United Fuels accepted an emergency 3-day order that they couldn’t / wouldn’t fulfil. They have failed to keep me updated as they miss deadline after deadline for delivery. When I contact them, they have strung me along during two weeks of freezing cold weather, giving false promises about when my order would arrive until I finally press them to give me a truthful delivery date, at which point they decide it’s not worth their while to come out to me.They haven’t taken responsibility for sorting the problem out and arranging for another supplier on my behalf. They’ve just left me hanging without oil and I’m now going to be significantly out of pocket making another urgent order and having suffered a week of permanently sub-zero weather. In nearly ten years living in the Dales, this is the worst customer service experience I have ever had. United don’t seem to care or understand that they are providing an essential service for people in rural communities.Yesterday, I submitted a similar review on their own website but it appears that they have vetoed its publication.

Avoid, unreliable and rude.

Unreliable and poor communicators. Ordered fuel was not delivered as promised, had to call and chase up. They could not advise when the delivery could be made and were unconcerned that I could run out of fuel. Requested to speak to the manager but they said ‘No’ and just cancelled my order. Waiting for my money back . Suggest avoid -unreliable!

Dreadful service

This company is either inept or untrustworthy – take your pick. Ordered 1000 Lt on December 16th for delivery on 24th. Never arrived and no communications until I chased on January 2nd. I then continued to chase for 2 days and was eventually told no delivery until January 6th. No attempt to communicate with me at any time, barely attempted to apologise. Disgraceful, incompetent and potentially dodgy. Strongly suggest they are to be avoided. Called Kettlewells with urgent need to replace – they delivered within 2 working days. How do rouge outfits like United Fuels still operate I wonder?
