Terrible attitude by owner, no interest in helping just desperate for your money. Went busy 18mths ago, tried again but think will fail again
Appauling attitude from the owner, i went to look at motorhomes, i looked in one, it had damp in the bathroom, oh i was told by the wonderful arrogant owner we will sort them out its nothing, i said but i suffer from a bad chest, he smirked at me and said you mean you cannot afford it?? i was shocked to say the least, i wish i had read to the reviews on numerous sites before visiting the place. The motorhome i was looking at was actually £2000 dearer on the windscreen than on the internet, very crafty sales system. To be honest the place looked like a scrap yard, there are 2 rather expensive nice looking motorhomes, they have been on their website months, then a row of old cars, one had the back door all scratched. I would not return to this dodgy place.
Bought a caravan march 2023 paid 10,000 cash with service saying no damp. Had it serviced a year later it’s absolutely riddled with it and can only get 3,500 for it now what an absolute joke this company taking your hard earned cash and ripping you off stay well clear or this place I am absolutely gutted
Shocking service. Very dishonest establishment, they say they changed business name in Dec 23 and are no longer VAT registered, no legal documents given at time of sale, the owner has appauling attitude seems to think he is better than most yet has 2 failed business, so he isnt that good. i was going to buy something but had a lucky escape as someone i know knew the goings on here, it looks like they are just cowboys doing things they shouldnt, be interesting if they are even allowed to be trading. Avoid! Oh and if you do look at caravans or motohomes take a damp metre
Bought caravan from these cowboys last year all nice when taking 13 grand of your cash found crack upon roof of caravan and they have done zilch about it. Avoid this place at all costs.
The business has now called itself Ashington Caravans.I can verify comments from other reviewers here. Bought a secondhand motorhome end of 2022, 2006 model and knew that it would come with its challenges but deliberatly bought from a dealer and paid dealer price to have some assurances along with warranty. Exact same model available through motor ads at £2000 cheaper. Within weeks started to require mechnical work and lounge window delaminated and fell out. Owner refused to pay for any fixes due to wear and tear, and advised warranty company would not pay for any mechanicals either (power steering pipes burst) . Motorhome was provided with full HAB check on purchase no problems mentioned or hinted at - completely clear. Took to another dealer to get fixes done they did a courtesy damp check and they identified the presence of damp which left unchecked would have eventually caused more serious problems. Took it back, repair was refused and over a few days bounced between Ashington caravans and the company that does their caravan bodywork. Finally ended up with a heated discussion with the 'technician' in their yard after he promised to do damp fix then left vehicle in their garage for a week and told me he hadn't time to fix it meanwhile the owner made himself scarce. The company who does their caravan bodywork did the repair work without charge after that. Prior to that offer being made I said I was going to make a compliant to the NCC after i realised it would bring heat onto both of the businesses due to the original damp check being done by their repairers in the first place. Sidenote - NCC approved may be used sign of assurance but it also means all the garages in the scheme meet/contact each other and act as one which means if another business in the scheme comes in and tries to attract more custom by offering better prices or offers to help during disputes they can be pulled into line by the others in the scheme. It slipped out that the company that gave me the 'true' damp check had been spoken to for 'scaremongering' after this kicked off and they ghosted me after it
Terrible service, they will promise you the earth when you are in the process of buying however when you find there is a problem with the motorhome you buy they will ignore your calls and refuse to help you, i bought the motorhome and was told that a full damp report had been done, i got no paperwork at all, i took it for an independant caravan workshop for a report and i was devasted to learn there was 40% damp in the front of the motorhome. I am in the process of seeking legal advice, i cant afford to just let this go, i have seen other reviews that people have bought caravans that have damp, its shocking they are still selling them to be honest. Prices are the dearest for miles, staff are rude and unpleasant. Very disappointed and wish i have not bought from them.
Excitement turned quickly to dis-appointment! Overall contact was good...to get the payment sorted. Travelled all the way from Glasgow to collect my motorhome, and after trains and taxis, got to the garage. First impression was my motorhome looked ok, but with the price I paid, it certainly wasnt prepared to showroom standard. Travelling home the fixed double bed looked as if it was ready to come down, and after inspection a screw was missing that supports the bed. It could have had a little TLC in cleaning to make it feel special. 2 of the mattress were quite badly stained! Something I should have checked but dealing with the paperwork is they only provided 1 key. After speaking with them when I got home the next day they advised they had spoke to their LEGAL team and said it wasnt a legal requirement to supply 2 keys. I at no time mentioned legal contact, but thought that as a gesture of customer goodwill and service, 2 keys would be provided. I have never bought a vehicle and only been given 1 key. Had to repair the bathroom sink tap and replace the whole unit. A cost that we should not have incurred, as it should have been picked up in their "service" as it was leaking. Contacted the warranty co, and surprise its not covered! A small cost to them would have went a LONG way, but has now left a sour taste in the mouth, after the amount I have just paid for my motorhome. Do your homework, and check everything before parting with cash.
After discussing my requirements with their Director Thijs Ellis, I used them to spray tailgate and wing of my Jeep. The agreement was that they would remove the two sets of decals from the tailgate prior to the spray and I would purchase new replacements. The wing spray was excellent. However, they removed only ONE set of decals and sprayed over the other. Where was the logic in that, I wonder? There had been absolutely no communication between the Director and the man with the spray gun, nor, come to that, the lady who collected payment. She had to rely on my honesty. When I collected the vehicle from them the rear bumper was split and there was a scratch in the corner, suggesting the car had been reversed into something, or possibly the sprayer had stood on the bumper to reach the top of the tailgate. Of course, they denied responsibility. The attitude was most definitely NFI. Additionally the rear wiper was not operative - the retaining nut had not been secured. Such attention to detail !!!They did offer to remove the tailgate decals and respray, but did they really think I would risk another opportunity to be blessed with their shoddy workmanship ??
