Paid 128k on a brand new Auto-Trail Grand Frontier 80, problems:Faulty tracker from day 1, didn't work had to have this replaced.Handbrake warning light, not wired up.Heating system wired up incorrectly.Heating system had to be replaced as it was a faulty heating boiler.Pipes to window washer going uphill, so couldn't get any anti-freeze into the system.Bathroom sink waste pipe going uphill, water would not run out of sink.Problem with water tank leaking underneath. We spent over 100 hours taking and returning this motorhome to the service centre and writing 122 emails and phone calls.Paid to rectify some of the problems myself at cost of over £1500.00. Complained to auto-trail by email several times and they have not even had the decency acknowledge me. Absolutely appalling service and would certainly not recommend.
My thanks to Claire and her team in the servicing department. They not only did a great install of a new Truma boiler, they fixed some longstanding, but difficult to pin down electrical problems. This is an older van, not under warranty and I felt the price charged was fair and reasonable. I know they've had some very poor reviews lately, but maybe they're listening and have turned a corner?
I purchased a Autotrail V-line 540. Since purchase the water supply to the sink has been intermittent and even a pump change has not rectified the issue. Got in contact with Autotrail and they offered to fix the problem back at the factory. Unfortunately no reply to my subsequent follow up emails. If anyone has the Chairman’s contact details let me know.
Recently visited a showroom to see Auto trail Excel range.Very disappointed in build quality.Internal finnish boards to window surround in habitation area had fallen off in three of the models....stuck on to random bits of softwood timber which in turn is glued to the body. Both fixings/ glue had failed....the same applies to the sunroof surround. Not impressed.£69000.00 ..,.keep it.First impressions make lasting impressions.
Its a shame all the hundreds of satisfied Autotrail owners don't bother to post. We have a 2020 Delaware, not been perfect but the minor issues its had are niggles, easily fixed same as with the many caravans weve ownedRecently we decided to have a couple of minor bodywork issues dealt with by the Repair and Refresh team at the factory. While there we had a major modification to the interior done. The job has been done perfectly at a reasonable cost. All in all really happy with our AutoTrail and the service from the factory
Spent 70k on a brand new expedition 68 and one of the seat belt fasteners which holds the pop up roof down doesn't work so first time driving it was banging up and down, asked for a new one, even said I'd fit it myself but 3 months later I'm still waiting. Taking it down to Spain next week with the roof held down with cable ties. I'd buy one myself but can't find an exact match. For me it's the 1st and last time buying auto trail.
Bought Vline Sport last Aug, within 2 weeks and second day of our maiden trip, water pump failed, microwave showed some damaged and rear door solenoid started making a intermittent clattering sound. At end of holiday, on way home stopped at dealership, they fitted new water pump, and arranged for replacement microwave and a visit to manufactures for door. Our visit to manufacturers we stayed overnight. Their service to fix the door was excellent. Having had an Auto Sleeper previous, I must say the standard of workmanship needs to be improved and spec of some simple things like door step and battery charging needs to be upped.
I own an Auto-trail F60 2020. I received a recall letter from them regarding the EM 55 unit under the passenger seat, it could over heat due to a fault. However not a problem they told us to contact a dealership and get the problem fixed. I then received a letter stating that my van was not subject to this recall. So you can image my shock when two months later I am driving and smoke starts coming from the fuse box under the passenger seat. My van was about to catch fire. I phoned Auto trail, who told me to find a dealership to fix the problem under warranty. I phones several dealerships and no one does warranty work. I phoned and emailed autotrail again to no avail. They are not interested in helping us. My advice is do not buy an Auto-Trail
There have been several minor issues in our Ducato Autotrail, bought new 3 years ago, many of which we have resolved but the big one is the water heater which is completely kaput. The retailer who sold it to us had a waiting list for repairs in excess of five months so we rang Autotrail and they informed us that it could be taken to any of their agents. We asked if they could just send us the part and they said not as it needed to be looked at by an appointed agent. We managed to get it booked in at another retailer who did not strip it down but tried various other options. Apparently we need to book it in again for them to strip it down (2 month waiting list) and they have now informed us that it will be chargeable as they do not do work under warranty for vehicles not bought from them even though they are an Autotrail agent.Having checked with Autotrail they say this is correct (having told us to take it to any agent knowing that it was under warranty). So, scenario - you buy a vehicle say in Scotland and you move house to the south of England. You will be expected to travel to Edinburgh several times should something go wrong a. Initial investigation to check the fault, b. Another appointment to investigate further (minimum of two months waiting list, c. Wait for the parts, d) Back again to have the parts fitted.Really? This is not good enough Autotrail.
Got a 1 year old f70 and it's got 84%damp all along back end. Emailed AutotrIl 3times but not had a reply off them. The build quality of AutotrIl is very bad once they have your money they don't want to no
I can't believe how many niggling problems Im having with my 4 year old Apache. The build quality is very poor with screws falling out of the MDF panels and drawers in various places. The wood is obviously unsuitable for the screw types and sizes being used and therefore won't retighten. Same in the shower cubicle with the drying rail screws. BEWARE this is not covered in warranty past the initial period.
I have a autotrail imala 730 and find it very good quality Thought I would up grade it and fancied the autotrail F74 at perthshire caravansSalesman gave me the keys could not unlock it with jey got in from drivers door and had to climb over seats very poor finish doors sticking seats uncomfortable When I finally got side door open there was play in the hinges very disappointed
21 plate F60, bought virtually new (now can guess why someone traded it with less than 2k miles). Drop down bed doesn’t work, bumper plastic connector failed and full bumper fell off whilst driving (not covered under warranty), bathroom door sticks and has to be slammed to shut, screws on pull out beds not deep enough to stay screwed in, ball bearings fallen out of pull out bed runners, I could go on. Not expected in a MH costing over £60k. Not only will we miss holidays booked as it’s unusable and can’t get repaired for months we’re completely disillusioned by the whole after sales service
Auto Trail use Sargent Fuse boxes in their motorhomes... The EM40 model has poorly under rated harness connections in the box. This leads to over heating of the fridge supply.. The plugs and cable have burnt and melted.. I know of at least 20 Motorhomes that have suffered this fate.. Many have complained to Autotrail, who ignore, or state "its fit for purpose"!!! If it was a Motor Vehicle, a recall would be provided...
Post identification of a gas leak in my Autotrail 636 I took the vehicle to an approved garage for investigation. The investigation showed that gas parts fitted by Autoitrail had been overtightened resulting in the gas leak (the defect is not related to degradation of parts over time). Gas installations in vans must meet the requirements of BS EN 1949:2021. Due to the failure of the gas installation in my vehicle I have concerns that these regulations were not met by Autotrail. This is a significant health and safety issue. IS MY Autotrail VEHICLE THE ONLY VEHICLE OUT THERE WITH A DEFECTIVE GAS INSTALATION???? - if you are an owner of an Autotrail vehicle, for safety, I would suggest get your gas systems checked (filling port to appliances), if you are a potential new customer of an Autotrail vehicle I would suggest look else where.
This is not really a review of the physical Auto Trail product but more a general question. When I look at the reviews for other products (mainly motorhomes) on Trustpilot, most have both good and bad experiences. But all appear to have at least one response from the company being spoken about. To date I’m not seeing Auto Trail responding to any comments. Am I looking at the wrong set of reviews or does this lack of a response actually say something about their customer service and or interest in customer perception?I am a potential purchaser of a new Auto Trail V-line 635 but the companies total apparent lack of concern about quality is a very worrying development…!
We have had our new Autotrail T670 for 3 years and looking forward to replacing it,so many things have gone wrong, water pump beeps all the time when turned on,sat nav doesn’t work properly, toilet door wouldn’t open breaks squeaking, waste water level doesn’t work to name a few, there are lots of nice bits that’s why we chose it but the after service from White Arches and the poor build quality have left us very disappointed (avoid both)
Not sure where to start. Van ordered in December still waiting! Told its built but other delays and frankly a discourteous reply from an email chasing. I have to say...NEVER AGAIN.. !
Loads of little issues directly from delivery, but being motor trade, I decided to sort things out myself rather than return the vehicle to the dealer. If they couldn’t do the pre delivery work right the first time, I doubted they would subsequently. Lights not working, bathroom sink leaking, edging strips on shelves not glued in place, grey waste tank guage not working, grey waste drain tap leaking, bathroom blind dropped to bits first time it was closed. I expected some issues with a British van but my wife wanted this particular layout which is not available on a German van!I don’t so much mind having to sort things out myself, but when you ask the dealer for some technical information 3 times and they don’t get back to you, life becomes tedious. No problem, I’ll ring the manufacturer, Trigano at Grimsby …. Rang them 3 times now and they don’t care either!!No problem, here we go, let’s just strip the bloody thing down and see what we can find……By the way..,.170bhp Transit with auto box is brilliant to drive!! Wonder if I could persuade a German manufacturer to build this British style layout - no there’s a thought!
