The car I was given broke down!When I called they said they will call me back. I then had to call them to find out what was going on. They asked me when I was available for them to come and look at it? How about straight away as it’s broken down! I was then charged for tolls for the vehicle AFTER Avis had the car back! They ignore email and still to this day 3 months later I still do t have a refund from them for the incorrectly charged Tolls
I rented a car from this company at Dubai airport, and it was a terrible experience from start to finish. After just a few days, a service warning light came on, and soon after, there was a strong smell of gasoline inside the car. We immediately contacted the company, and they sent someone to pick up the car—but the communication was terrible. We were only told at the very last minute that someone would be arriving at our door at 11 pm.I was genuinely scared to drive any further because of the strong gas smell, so I couldn’t refill the tank before the car was collected. Despite all the hassle and the unsafe situation, the company didn’t offer any compensation and still charged us for a full tank of gas! When we complained, their only response was that they had offered us a replacement car (which completely misses the point).No apology, no concern for our safety, just more charges. It was a very stressful situation, especially since we were traveling from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. As a rental company, you’d expect their cars to be checked and serviced before handing them over to customers. Clearly, that’s not the case here. Based on this experience, I’m not surprised by all the other negative reviews.
I had horrible experience in rent Car through Avis in Rome. The Customer service team there are out there to fleece clients are unethical. They forced me to take additional Insurance, when I clearly stated I had an insurance coverage, this costed me EUR 200 extra. I raised this complain with Avis customer service, but no feedback from them. Beware of this unscrupulous Car rental company.
They are thieves, I just saw suspicious transaction of 820 USD on my credit card without any explanation. I returned the car back to them as it was. Very bad experience.
Terrible Experience – Unexpected Charges Months After ReturnI rented a vehicle from this company at Terminal 3 from 04/05/25 to 13/05/25. Upon returning the vehicle, the desk agent confirmed there were no further charges and everything was in order.Two months later, I was shocked to find unauthorized charges on my credit card. There was no explanation, no notification—just random charges out of nowhere.After reading other reviews, it’s clear this is part of a pattern of dishonest behavior. Many customers have reported similar issues with unexplained post-rental charges.This company’s practices are misleading and unacceptable. I would strongly urge others to avoid renting from them to prevent going through the same frustration.
Cannot trust to give them credit card details. After 1 month of returning the car I saw a trasaction on my card. When i called them they said there was a damage on the car. Which wasnt there when i returned the car-they checked and verified. I have photos and videos with me. Now I have to file a fraud report.
NEVER, EVER EVER BOOK WITH THEM. EVER. After returning from my trip they keep sending me invoices for a fine (which they provided no proof) Impound release fee, (the vehicle was NEVER impounded while I rented it, and ongoing fees that I am still enquiring about with no joy. The staff are USELESS.Save yourself the stress. They have scammed me for about $1000 so far. Never ever again
I am deeply disappointed by the service of the AVIS car rental agency at Dubai Airport. It has now been 3 months and I still have not received the refund of my deposit, despite multiple follow-ups via email and WhatsApp. Each time, I only receive vague responses with no real commitment. This is a complete lack of professionalism and customer respect. Every time I contact the agency, I am met with empty apologies, but nothing changes. It is unacceptable that a company of this size treats its customers in this way. The Dubai agency seems to be made up of completely incompetent and inefficient people, to the point where I wonder if they even know what they are doing. If you want a hassle-free car rental experience, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. The Dubai agency is a disgrace, and I can only advise against doing business with them.
Very bad experience they do not keep their promise and I have an outstanding refund that I have still not received 3 weeks after returning the car.
My experience with AVIS dubai was quite good, i always get my car from their sheikh zayed branch, ive been renting for 5 months and they helped me with everything, they give good price, they are helpful as they can be , i had an emergency once and asked for a refund and they did it even though in their policy it was not written, i recommend this company over all the others in dubai, they dont take the deposit they just hold it in your credit card which is good
Do not book with this company it's a total scam. Booked for 7 seater. On arrival they said they run out of 7 seater, offered 5 seater temporarily and they will deliver within few hours 7 seater. Now the customer service don't respond.
Stay clear from @AVISUAE . It is the absolute worst rental company in the UAE. Despite being a Presidents Club member I was given a dud of a car. Two days into my 16 day rental, the Service light came on. I returned the car and it was replaced with another car. I barely drove it 2km and the driver side seatbelt locked. They promised to deliver a car the next day to my hotel. They never showed up. So I told them to come pick up the car and was no longer interested in a car from them. They were there within the hour. I have been waiting for the last week for s refund. Their management is still studying the matter. I got an email yesterday from them telling me they are processing a refund that is 1/6 of the amount of unused days. @AVISUAE @Avis. Shame on you.
Very bad service and company. i have rented there twice within a month. the first time is more than 2 months ago now, and i have still not got my deposit back. i have called and sent mail, but no reply or update. very very bad. Also the second time, we where going to Oman, and could not enter, because they made a mistake in the papers that was needed to enter the country. so we had to return back to dubai. they do still not answer us after we required to get a refund. no answer and no update. worst car rental company
Abu dhabi airport. I delivered the car in 24 september. when in 19 september i took the car and gave a deposit with my debit card of 734,00euro they strongly assured me that in 40 work-days i had my deposit back. 60 days passed and i m still fighting to have my money back. I also spoke with my lawyer. I WAIT FEW DAYS MORE, THAN I LL GO THERE PERSONALLY TO MAKE A MESS.
Hands down the worst post rental experience with any car rental company in the world. This franchise of Avis is operated by a bunch of crooks.... and I say this with factual evidence rather than with emotional frustration.Rather than collect the vehicle from the downtown location, I opted to have the car delivered to my hotel for a nominal fee. However in order to do so they insisted on taking the AED3000.00 security deposit up front on top of the delivery fee.Don't worry we'll refund the security deposit within 45 working days after your rental. Fast forward 4 months post rental and after multiple chases and excuses as to why the money hasn't been refunded it finally landed back to my credit card this week.I thought that was finally the end of the matter but the sting in the tail was multiple fraudulent attempts to use my credit card in the UAE for small amounts which triggered a security alert with my credit card company. (I've not been to UAE since June). My credit card account is currently frozen while my account is re-secured and a new card issued.Will not use this cowboy company again. Ever. Buyer please be aware over what you're getting into.

Two months and I still haven't received the deposit , and after all the international calls and emails , all of them were false promises. I filed a complaint with the parent company in America and they opened an investigation into the matter, but I have to wait an additional 30 days for the investigation. I leave it to you to judge this company, but for me it doesn't even deserve a one star...
They stole my deposit and keep playing games that they will refund it and send me the slip
Even though the check in and check out processes were smooth and fast, my experience with AVIS is quite terrible. After two months, I still didn’t get my deposit back. I thought my first bad experience with AVIS in France was an anomaly but my experience in the UAE confirmed how bad the client service is in that company. I will never use their rental services again.
