The app never works

The app never works, always says you don’t have an internet connection regardless of quality of the connection. They’ve never fixed this and no one answers the phone. This is a company that just does not care, they have a charging network you cannot access at all, likely they are getting Govt or local auth money just to install chargers so don’t care if you can access them or not.

Corrupt

The app has now gone down on my phone so can no longer access the chargers, ordered an RFID off the website for which £20 was deducted from my account, card still hasn't arrived after 3 weeks, customer services are nothing short of useless

CYC charge point at Stakeford Nurseries.

I used this CYC chargepoint on 24 August 22 and it was OK. I used a credit card and the ‘contactless’ screen was hard to read and at first sight unintelligible, until I realised the screen instructions were in German. Eventually, the system accepted the card and I left my car to charge on 50kW DC, while I went for a walk. The charge finished quicker than the predicted time, and I got back to the car twenty minutes afterwards, by which time there was a man in a van waiting for me. I thought that I was in for an argument, but he was pleasant enough and told me that he has a lot of these chargers installed in Northumberland. Based on this experience I will use them again, but they need to improve the payment method.

Absolute Rubbish

App doesn’t work, helpline staff useless, told me that the app & website are very old and don’t work properly!! It would take a few days my card to register. Not one EV charger being used out of a possible 20 Charging points….there’s a reason for that!!!

The reason why people won't adopt EV's

Terrible app, terrible website. Terrible charging equipment. Tried to start charging using both website and app, tried different chargers in the car park. Locked my cable to the post at one point and had to call to get it released. Staff were unhelpful. Calling actually takes you through to BP Pulse, had I known I would t have bothered. Avoid.

Hopeless in every way

Where do you start with this inept lot.First thing, I discovered 4 CYC chargers in 2 different public car parks I have a work pass for. So I download their app.Pull up to the first in Livingston Road, Sunderland. Open the app, try to start a charge. Even though the app CLEARLY states “free tariff”, the app wants me to register a card. So I try. But the app won’t accept cards - you get an error saying it can’t connect to the remote server. So I try the website - it’s not mobile friendly so you can’t use it. So no charging for me. Turns out that one is out of order anyway - obviously. At work I go on their website on desktop view. No option to add a payment card, just option to order an RFID card via direct debit. So I do that.In the meantime, I contact them to ask what on earth the story is. Reliably informed that CYC is now BP Pulse, and I should buy a BP Pulse card. Ask if that works with CYC chargers - no it doesn’t. SO WHAT IS THE POINT IN THAT?10 days later, no RDID card. App still not accepting payment cards. And now an email from bank saying DD has been cancelled.Basically an absolute mess from start to finish. Anti EV drivers saying the infrastructure isn’t good enough - well CYC and by association BP Pulse show us that actually yeah, the infrastructure isn’t great. What’s worse is their complete inability to do anything about it. Terrible app, terrible website, terrible customer service.

Might as well be called Won't charge your car.

I've tried to use charge my car several times, the app is awful and fails on card details every time.Today I *really* needed the charge! I rang the helpline. 20 minutes on hold later I spoke to a nice lass who did her best to help but ultimately failed as I didn't have a direct debit attached to my account. That's the account that won't let me add a card on the app that doesn't ask for bank details...SO... I was directed to the website. If you think the app looks bad, the website is a horror. Anyway, I added a direct debit and noticed I could get a payment card (£20, didn't) but you can't authorise a charger from the website. The help desk had rung off, the app still wouldn't let me start a charge. I rang the helpdesk again, they decided this time that the charger was faulty as well.Just to add insult to injury, it's supposed to be a free tarrif charger. Other providers let you authorise with literally any rfid card but this lot want your bank details or £20 just for the privilege and then it still doesn't work.Total waste of time.

Atrociously complicated and backward

Atrociously complicated and backward - wasted 20 minutes of my life. App required and does not accept bank cards that expire in 2026. Called their technical assistance line and their online payment line and both are down. Hopeless.

Utterly abysmal

Utterly abysmal. Sent a free charging card and then bizarrely debited me £20 for a second card. Not one of the CYC locations I have been to has worked, and that's using either card. That there is still any energy being wasted on illuminating the top light and display on these totally useless charging posts is a travesty.

Could not set up app

Could not set up app, getting server error messages, pay by phone permanently engaged, and no one answers customer service line. I think this company may have gone bust, but Chargemaster have done nothing about it, so there are hundreds of out of commission public chargers that don't work.

Not fit for purpose

Not fit for purpose. Unfortunately all my local charge points are run by the company. With 3 ways to access the service you would think it would be possible to charge the car. Way number 1-App. App is broken and has been for some time. You have to add a payment car even though most of the points are free. It lets you get right up the the point of starting a charge and then shows an error on the part where you add the security code. 26 tries and also deleted and reinstalled it and nothing. Way 2- get a card. No such luck yet as it hasn’t been delivered. Ordered a BP pulse one 3 weeks ago and a cyc one over a week ago. Was told on the phone it would take 4-10 days. They’re the same company with about 3 different names. Way 3- ring them. Have now stopped answearing altogether but when they did answer apparently the charge point I wanted connection to had a fault. They directed me to another one but when I got there and eventually found it it was in a permit holders only workplace. Gave up and drove onto podpoint. Lucky it’s a 3 month free trial as I’ll be cancelling the BP pulse one and asking for a refund for the cyc card if things don’t improve by the time it’s up.

Dreadful

Simply unbelievable service. I’ll be writing to Chesterfield council to suggest removing their chargers and also trading standards. The company is a joke.

Most frustrating provider I have encountered

I required a charge whilst in Saffron Walden recently and went to a CYC point. No contactless payment option, so installed the app and went about attempting to add my card details. After adding my details, I used the charge now option only to be told that I needed to add my card details.I went through this a couple of times before trying the 'Pay by Phone' option - no answer.Drove on to a different provider.

Customer services do not exist .I received advance notice of a charge which remains unexplained after 90 minutes waiting on the phone to speak to "Our friendly team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." , webform no response ,email cannot be delivered ,impossible to login to the account .Ended up writing a letter which presumably will end up in the bin.
