I would give them ZERO if I could.Absolutely terrible service from Direct Oil. It was 7 days past the delivery date and still no information on when the oil would be delivered. Was lied to on the phone, "There were roadworks in your area", "There was no access", before they finally admitted that the order had never been routed. I have cancelled my order and they have said that they will refund the money in 7-10 working days! We'll see whether this happens because other people have said they had to fight to get their money back.Direct Oil was owned by Watsons, but Watsons is now owned by Inspirit Capital ... and the difference is obvious.So, they may be cheaper when you order, but your delivery will never arrive.DO NOT USE

I think this company is going bust! Ordered heating oil 6th Jan. Received confirmation for delivery on or before 26/1. Suprisingly they took payment same day (in the past always pre-authorised and took payment after delivery which was stated on my email confirmation). Usually send notification email of delivery day before. No delivery made. No communication from Direct Oil, no contact details on website except online form. Sent 2 messages heard nothing back. Becoming suspicious. Contacted parent company Watson Fuel support (Westley) to chase order. They had order but stated they tried to deliver with large tanker (despite my order showing suitable for small tanker - a theme I note in several other reviews) they could not confirm when delivery would be made and stated they were not able to contact depot to check. I was now becoming very suspicious as exhibiting all halmarks of company in trouble. Long unhelpful conversation trying to resolve but no date when delivery would be made. No manager available. He suggested only way to resolve would be to make formal complaint (!!!!) but this could only be done by email! Made complaint but nothing heard to date other than standard reply. After several days rang customer support again (Davina Cooppen) after I saw endless 1 star reviews on here for Direct Oil, to cancel order. She confirmed order cancelled and full refund would be made within 7-10 days. If helpful to to others in same situation I managed to place an order with competitor Certas who delivered within 48 hours and for less! Refund never arrived. Spoke again with Davina Cooppen who said she would check with accounts and ring me back. Nothing heard. No refund received. Luckily I had paid by credit card - contacted Credit Card company to dispute payment. They are taking on dispute. Since found out parent company Watson Fuel, a previously reliable family company, were taken over by investment company 2025. Has all the hall marks of asset stripping Direct Oil. Please avoid this company.

Made calls was promised oil would be here in 48 hours, no oil still , phoned again said manager would call back and nothing! No hot water or heating for 2 weeks!! Phoned again and still no oil coming! This company is disgusting! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Having used Directoil for the last few years I ordered again on 19 Nov with a due date of 3 Dec. Trying to communicate with them is impossible. I used the Contact Us on their website regarding a payment issue, no reply. Found a phone number online, on answering there is no confirmation that it is directoil, held on for 15 minutes and gave up. I then looked at their recent reviews and wished I hadnt! No oil by our due date so the day after I rang two companies that delivered to us via them in the past and luckily the second, Watson Fuels had us on their list for delivery only a day late. This caused us unnecessary stress and worry whether we would get our delivery. I will NOT be using them again and will go back to Boilerjuice who have an advertised contact phone number and far better customer service.

After 13 years of unequivocal excellent service, this company has fallen spectacularly. Despite repeated promises of an oil delivery, the dates simply come and go with no prospect of an oil delivery. Emails are now getting ignored. To this end, I personally have now cancelled my order and terminated any future business with them, as I feel like I'm being treated with utter contempt.I suggest that before one makes any prospective purchases from this company, they look at these reviews to see a common theme. I won't be surprised to see this company slowly but surely dissolve.

Absolutely awful company. Failed to deliver us oil on or before the date that they said they would & didn’t even bother letting us know they weren’t coming either. Left us without oil and now have a freezing cold house with a newborn baby. Disgusting company, avoid completely.

I think the crux here is this…. Delivery date expect up to a week over the initial date. Ours came 2 days late but they were 20p a litre cheaper than next best so… providing you order early enough and aren’t down to the bottom they’re absolutely fine!

BUYER BEWARE!!
BUYER BEWARE!!! Ordered oil on 12th Feb 2025. Latest delivery date was 28th Feb 2025 which was fine. Expecting an email night before the delivery on the 28th but nothing received.Only means of communication is by email as no one answers the phone, it’s easier to get a GP appointment. Email comm: “sorry no delivery is scheduled as we have had a problem with the system” and they couldn’t give me a date. No heads up, no direct comms and no oil after 16 days.

Oil ordered, wrong size tanker turns up, oil nearly runs out and they say they have no baby tanker so cancelled the order a month after the order. No refund received.....avoid this company like the plague they are rude, un sympathetic and should not be in business I am suing

Avoid these Company at all costs!,ordered in good time given a date of delivery ( on or before). No delivery first delivery date, none the second promised day, none the third and still waiting. Just a email contact that takes 24 hrs for reply! Now been without heating and hot water for theee days due to their ineptitude and disgusting lack of service!Please do not use them and give them any money for your own sake they do not deserve to be in business!

Have used this company many times over the last few years and never had a problem, delay on this occasion but emails quickly answered saying there is a delay at depot after initial delivery date passed... it should have arrived again today but I got a call from a nice lady saying the lorry had broken down and now looking at next week, sometimes issues arise that can't be helped and I'm not desperate for oil...but if I was getting low she said to let them know and they will prioritise so no real problem... Also they don't take your payment before delivery, As that irritates people when companies have your money and you have no product! So I've always had a good experience with this company and will use again.

Wish I’d read these reviews first! Delivery 8 days late. Tried calling but gave up after an hour in a hold queue. I only managed to speak to them by calling through to Watsons Fuels who they’re connected with and the guy there (I won’t give his name to protect his job) sounded like he’d heard it all before with a comment of ‘well that doesn’t surprise me at all!’. Emails were responded to, but then they just say that there’s been a problem at the depot and they’ll deliver in a few working days, so felt like just a standard excuse. The only thing that would get 5 stars was the delivery driver who called beforehand, delivered at the time he promised and was a lovely cheerful chap. But he couldn’t rescue this review I’m afraid. Avoid. Avoid.

NEVER EVER USE DIRECT OIL, they promise deliveries that never arrive , they give you dates which they NEVER keep to, has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with, avoid at all costs !!!

Avoid this company
Ordered 600 litres to fill tank for winter. They only delivered 416 litres as that’s all that was left on the tanker. Unable to contact direct oil. They don’t answer phone or email. They refunded the difference but I am now left with only 3/4 of a tank and unable to order now as only need 180 litres. The tanker driver didn’t tell me he was low on oil until after he started to fill my tank. Will not use Direct oil again.

Hi, I have read so many bad reviews about this company but my experience has always been very good. Even this time when I'd ordered the wrong oil , I contacted them via their contact form and an exceptional online administrator named Jessica sorted out the problem and continued to answer my queries. Appalling customer service and…
Appalling customer service and impossible to get an answer on the phone line. Email via their contact link responded with “ we will answer within 3 working days”! Failed to deliver by confirmed date…. Will never use again. Oil ordered on 21 Aug with delivery date on or before 5 Sep… it wasn’t and took 3 hours of my time chasing and hassling via email, (phone was never answered), to get a delivery on 6th having to state I would cancel and refuse a delivery if it didn’t arrive on the 6th.…. Never received any response from the “customer service team??” Steer well clear would be my advice unless you have the patience of a Saint and are in no hurry to get a delivery.
