We have been renting The Scarboro House for the last 5 years. The first year it was great, but the house has deteriorated over the last 4 years because of maintenance. The realtor was almost impossible to reach and never returned a phone call. This will be our last year renting this house.
Clean home, decent view, secluded location. Restaurants and town nearby in case you forget anything, convenient for families. Only thing that would make it better is level yard space for the kids but that’s hard to come by on a mountainside.

Great view, but the house needs some thought. If you are someone who has difficulty getting around, this is not the one for you. The wood stove partially blocks the entrance to both of the bedrooms and bathrooms and if you use a walker or wheel chair, it is hard to maneuver around it and the support pole close to it. There are also no hand bars of any kind in either bathroom, so it was difficult to feel really secure in bathing. The furniture in the living room needs to be updated - when you sat on the couch, you went to the springs - not comfortable at all. The television only got local channels and some of the channels listed in the booklet provided but even with those, you would be watching and the channel would pixelate and then freeze.The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The only problem was that every cabinet was full and there was no where to put the food we brought in except for the counter.The bathrooms seemed to have been updated and were great except for the lack of safety bars.It was quiet and you could not beat the view. We hope this review helps the owner to realize that not all people coming into their property (which really could be great!) are young and healthy and maybe will get them to update to make the place more safe. Thanks for our stay.

This was the best experience. My fiance and I booked Changes In Altitudes for his birthday and every minute was peaceful and beautiful. The house is fully stocked with everything you need. Down comforters and the softest quilt bedspreads you can imagine! The booking process was super easy online and then they called for payments and confirmations. They answered all my questions too. We will be returning next year in May!

Our Family had a wonderful time at this cabin. They truly enjoyed playing in the river. The rental agency was very helpful and polite.
During our rental a repair person was sent to our place without any notification. Quite a shock to come into the house and find a stranger who claimed to be a repair person - with ALL our belongings, cash, phones and laptops out in plain view.We had a discrepancy upon checkout. Charged additional $342- no consideration
Staff is helpful and informative. I would have recommend them to friends and family.

The house was beautiful with breathtaking views, surrounded by nature. Such a wonder escape for a quiet getaway or good family get-together. Would highly recommend!
This home was wonderful. Capacity of 6 was perfect for 6 as we had a beautiful time. Surroundings were peaceful, great location to banner elk winery (highly suggest) and close to downtown banner elk as well. Would definitely stay again
