My experience with Lakewood Publishers has been exceptional. The Project Manager, Shannon Harper, is always attentive and responsive. My questions have received expeditious responses with courtesy and professionalism. The Team consistently produces exceptional work. I'm quite pleased with the efforts put forth by Lakewood Publishers.
Made promises that are in the contract but did not do them. The whole process took a long time. Repeated questions that I answered over and over. I sent a simple question to them 3 weeks ago and no answer. They got their money and that is all they care about. Will not use them again.
I really wanted this to be 4 stars but this is a scam company. If I had just stuck to the original agreement and not allowed them to sell me on advertising I might have given 4 stars. Unfortunately after they fulfilled all the things they said they would in the original agreement, the extras they sold me kept getting pushed to the side. Illustrations that were bait and switch (lovely pictures, but then given AI garbage to ok, which I did not) It was always "next week... next month" for the additional advertising. Ask for something and it was "oh by the end of the day" and then I wouldn't hear from them for days. Over $12000 was spent and they are refusing to refund it, claiming they have been doing advertising. I was promised influencer reviews and dynamic ads. I got static AI social media posts. They will lie to you no matter what they have told you in email. They will manipulate and gaslight. They will even insult you if you refuse to fall for what they are telling you. Not one book was purchased because of them- all me. Filed a dispute through PayPal and then claimed they will give me a small portion of my money- if I close the dispute. PayPal allows offers to be made through them to resolve but they refuse to acknowledge any offer they have made. They expect me to drop it without any recourse if I do. May have to go to court. Oh! And I almost forgot. They had me sign up for a business acct and tied all of the commerce from my website (which I paid for) to it. Then I find out it's a free trial email and they have locked it so I can't upgrade it and must go to them when it needs to be renewed. Not shady at all. AND they have locked certain things on my website (WHICH I PAID FOR) so that I can't just change everything to my regular email. So when the trial runs out, I will have a non working email at my website, that I paid for. I guess I was going to have to continue paying them for access? Like I said, shady. Also, if you call the 1888 "corporate number" it's probably not a good sign when it is answered by a guy who says "Uh...hello?" And when you ask if you have reached Lakewood Publishers, he responds with "Uh...yeh yeh hold on." I wish that was an exaggeration.
Lakewood publisher is knowledgeable, precise, and to the point when it comes to getting your book published. The whole staff at Lakewood who works with you from the beginning to end are unbelievably talented. The editing, art department, and then final product to getting set up on your platform of your choice. Such great people to work with. I recommend this company who wants their masterpiece in the right hands. Lakewood publisher gets the job done the first time. Im very happy with my outcome. You will be too! I'm happy to provide commentary on my experience with Lakewood. I was a newbie to publishing with Amazon KDP. Preston was assigned to help me through the process. He coordinated preparation of a cover, provided an editorial review of my draft, and when my manuscript and cover (front/back) were ready, at my request he established an account at KDP in my name and uploaded my cover and contents. Now I am published with Amazon and I have learned how to do this on my own in the future. I've changed the back cover and corrected a couple typos that Amazon found - wrong their/there kind of thing.Preston returned my emails next business day and it was a pleasure to work with such a pro-active associate.Had I attempted to self-publish with Amazon KDP without assistance I would have made rookie mistakes and wasted valuable time learning-by-error. With Lakewood i was published quickly. I consider this the same as taking an introductory class at the local University and I was happy to write the check at the end.
What I loved about Lakewood publishers is that they tailored the editing to what I needed. They did a GREAT job formatting the book to meet Amazon standards for Kindle E-book, paperback and hard cover. Then they helped us create a cover design for the book. I didn’t like the first design, but when I gave them some ideas of what I had in mind, they nailed it! They also were great at communicating step by step. Now our book is live on Amazon and we are so happy!
