New home
Love our new home at Millside, Stanley. Quality of the build is great, small snags that have been fixed in a timely manner. Good selection of options when buying brand new.

The home is wonderful, and Ian our site manager has been absolutely brilliant, can't do enough for us and very friendly. Only thing that's brought my rating down has been contact with sales office/customer care being quite difficult and I feel like I'm always having to chase things not being done. It would be nice if I was contacted as a courtesy to ensure jobs have been finished and to check we are happy with things. Still a few things not fixed after having lived here for 2 months. Over all however we absolutely love our home and would do it all again.
This is our first brand new house and Ogilvie were really good from start to finish. We bought a Bromley in Millside Park.We had a few things on our snagging list but they are being dealt with. Maybe not as quick as I would like but they are being done consistently. The site managers Nick and Ian have been great, especially Ian who has been really helpful and his tik tok videos are funny but coukd do with new material lol the other workmen on site always say hello too which is nice. All in all we absolutely love our new home. Great house, great plot, no more moves for us
Our first impressions of our new-build home were very positive. The layout is excellent, the rooms are spacious and practical, and the plot is well positioned within the Drovers Gate Development. Everything seemed to be going well, right up until moving day, when payment was made. Unfortunately, the experience since then has been extremely disappointing.More than 18 months on, several defects and snagging issues remain unresolved, which is disappointing for a brand-new property. The en-suite bathroom window still leaks, and recently, despite being fully closed, water was running out of the plasterboard wall and onto the inside sill. The MDF sill is swelling, and even after wiping it three times that evening, water continued to line the sill - a problem you should never expect from a closed window in a new home. There are also ongoing issues with the patio doors. The sashes were marked before we moved in, and although a “plastic surgeon” attempted repairs, this eventually wears off and the imperfections re appear, leaving the doors worse than before. The builder only wants to send out the plastic surgeon, which is clearly just a temporary repair and cannot properly resolve the issues. The frame may not have been screwed in correctly, and the doors are not hung straight, allowing a noticeable draught even when closed. The damaged patio-door sill, temporarily filled before move-in, has deteriorated again, leaving the area unfinished. Both the front and rear doors also have ongoing issues. The front door was marked on installation and has glue residue around the inset window, while the rear door was scratched and marked during the build process. These visible defects further detract from the home’s overall appearance and reflect elements of the build that appear rushed or unfinished. The driveway has also been a persistent issue. It was poorly laid from the outset, causing large areas of water to pool whenever it rains. Contractors have now re-laid the driveway three times, yet the problem continues. After the most recent visit, we were still able to slide our fingers down the side of the block paving, a clear indication that it remains incorrectly installed.Scheduling remedial works has added further frustration. For issues that have been addressed, each required lengthy delays, multiple visits, and persistent chasing. Dates are often provided with no specific time slots, leaving us expected to remain available for the entire day to accommodate contractors. This has caused significant disruption to work and family life and adds unnecessary stress to an already challenging process. It is hard not to feel that tight deadlines and cost pressures during construction have contributed to many of these problems. Taking a little more time to complete homes to a higher standard — even if it slightly increases costs or extends build times — would likely reduce snagging, minimise post-completion issues, and lead to far happier customers. In the long term, this would strengthen the builder’s reputation and improve trust. We genuinely hope the builder takes these concerns seriously and completes the outstanding repairs so that our home finally reflects the quality and finish we were promised when we purchased it.
Builders from hell
We have now been in our property for 10 months. We have emailed numerous times with snagging issues. The lady a freaking with Snaggings had been good at getting back to us. However it feels like she is not getting the support she requires. We have had contractors arriving at our door, as we are self employed we are not always at home.We have requested a meeting to go through these issues but nothing has evolved. It feels like a delay tactic of "fobbing" us off yet again. Our main bedroom, there is only one position for the bed, however we are unable to plug in our bedside lamps without using an extension cable which has created a "trip" hazard. This resulting in is having to move our bed where headboard now covers the radiator and window. We have been extremely patient so far, and now getting to the point of frustration.Having read many reviews we are not alone.
We were so excited to move into our new home at Drovers Gate in May, unfortunately after signing on the dotted line they moved the sales manager to another site and the new one pleaded ignorance about everything! Very annoying, however that was just the start of what has been a very frustrating, stressful time.Ogilvie will do anything they can to get out of snagging. I really thought I was going mad until I read the other reviews and see they play the blame game with other home owners. My fence wasn’t straight, the fencers came round and said that it hadn’t been erected properly (wrong screws/nails) and pointed out that the posts were loose because of the soil and was told they needed sign off from Ogilvie to reconcrete… Heard nothing so managed to grab the Site Manager. He blamed the problems with the fence on me/my contractor (I got paving done), saying we had taken down the fence! Just stop playing the blame game Ogilvie and sort out the issues! Stop talking to us like we are stupid, I don’t know how you sleep at night.Edited to add that after my review Ogilvie Customer Care team got in touch to discuss the issue and it has since been fixed. Lets see about the other snagging issues!
Painful experience in simply trying and still trying to get my property without snagging. At Drovers Gate, residents and collaborating together to go against the house builder..
Overall we have got decent value for money with our Ogilvie home. The business model for Ogilvie is perhaps aimed more at value rather than being focussed on a premium market. If you are looking for a premium offering then perhaps go for a more expensive house builder. I would say Ogilvie sit in the middle somewhere between premium and cheap. There were a number of snags which did take a bit of time to fix but generally Blair and his contractors were helpful and tried to help where possible. We had a fairly major issue with one of our windows and a leak which has taken some time to resolve. However having met with Blair and discussed this a number of times we have now got a solution in place.Having read other reviews I can see how some might be frustrated and others are delighted, it all depends on customer expectation and how lucky you get with snags etc.I would still say we have had good value on the purchase as a whole. The price paid reflected the quality and finish that we got.
The lead up to our move in was a bit of a concern with Ogilvie, where we felt that individuals were not overly helpful or communicative about our move in date and several other things. However, since moving into our new build home we have been very happy with the service from the Ogilvie team. In terms of communication, Melissa has always been outstanding at replying to any queries or issues that we have and has always ensured that these things have been resolved very quickly with the appropriate contractors/tradesmen. Daryl has also gone over and above to look after us since moving into our property- on several occasions!
When we first came to the development, Lisa was very helpful with information about the development. We asked viewing and reserved our property with her. When it came to making our internal choices both Lisa and Scott were brilliant, we sat down, with no timescale, we didn’t feel rushed making our choices, they gave us their opinions on things and what was best to spend our money on.As the move got closer we were kept in the loop as per all the dates and times of the move. The house itself is beautifully finished off, Ian (site manager) and his team have been great, nothing is too much hassle, we’ve had no major problems. Our development is Millside Park, Stanley.Would highly recommend, as all the staff we’ve dealt with are a credit to their employer.
Moved in to our new home in Stanley and very little snagging and any we have had were rectified quickly. Build quality really good. Site Manager really helpful and the rest of the team helpful and friendly.Would recommend an Ogilvie Home
Ogilvie have been very accommodating and always able to work around our problems at their own risk / cost. We were allowed several reviews of the property once constructed when liaising closely with the site team and sales. The site team are very professional and have always been polite around our children and neighbours. It is never easy working on a live construction site amongst residents. Thanks to the upper management also who during negotiations took the time to meet and discuss items with us to ensure we were happy with the solutions.
Visitors have been impressed by my new build Ogilvie 2-bed property in Stirlingshire. Architects have made efficient use of space. Overall quality is good, and snagging issues have been dealt with effectively.
Like others we have been treated poorly by Ogilvie and they have tried to silence us while blaming us for the faults with our home. After giving them hundreds of thousands of pounds, they left us with nothing but false hope and empty promises. We have spoken to the head of the FaceBook group and send all of our corresponded with Ogilvie and given permission for our story to be told! Ogilvie are actively trying to silence hundreds of us, their own customers, with stories they don’t want others to know. But every review they take down, they will have to justify to the media, as we can prove our reviews and stories are real!Join the FaceBook group and reach out to the incredible team of people making our voices heard and allowing us to talk our stories and no longer suffer in silence!
Wow I have got an amazing garden thanks to Ogilvie doing all the groundwork and landscape grass. I truly appreciate them making good the wrong colour tiles they put on my ensuite shower and bathroom. I actually realise I enjoy gardening now. Thanks to All the Team from the Construction Director to the contractors. I was able after 4 months in the house to say " I am happy'
Lead up to move in was great, few months later we were forgotten about. customer service team are ok, needed to escalate some issues and am still no further ahead. customer service management make you feel stupid and are insulting, telling you to sort issues yourself. I have doors that won’t close, gaps in my walls and am ignored or insulted by the customer service management man when I do call.
We purchased our very first family home with Ogilvie, Initially we were sold the dream, new house, big savings with a high spec custom finish. In realty we received a house that suffered hundreds of snags, a poor quality finish and arguably the worst aftercare in the business. As many of the reviewers here rightly point out, once Ogilvie have sold you a home, they go out of their way to disrupt the snagging repairs, in the hope you will give up and move on. They become dismissive, accusatory and worst of all indifferent. The team at "customer service" and i use that term very loosely, will send you lovely emails suggesting dates they can attend to fix issues, only for the repairs never to take place or materialize all the while knowing full and fine well this will never happen and not informing you (the customer) of this, even though this has cost you a day off work etc. Additionally, we have had numerous repairs in our home, only for the contractors sent, to cause further additional damage to the property, damage that Ogilvie then state is not their issue as it could have been done by the customer? This leads us to the worst part of Ogilvie after sales support!Ogilive are extremely aggressive in their approach to anyone who challenges them with an issue. They use accusatory language, insinuate that any issue with the house could be/is your fault and will challenge any issue raised as "you may have caused the issue yourself, so we wont fix it" They assume all customers as hostile and once they have your money, they will simply ignore you, dismiss you and even go as far as to out right insinuate that you are lying! Many of our neighbors have suffered the same fate, most of the neighbors as saddened, annoyed, upset with the team at Ogilvie, some are even withholding reviews in the hope Ogilive will resolve the issues. However this is simply delaying the inevitable, Ogilive will not resolve your issues, as even the positive reviews here clearly state that many of them never got their snagging issues completed years later.Overall, if you want to buy a new house and be met with a poor finish, low quality support/service, lack of due care and attention etc. then by all means purchase an Ogilvie home. However if you wish to buy a house that comes with good support, great customer service and from companies that listen, trust and respect the people paying them millions of pounds and keeping them in business, then listen to the reviews and buy from an alternative builder.Ogilvie seem to be trying to find the most efficient way to ruin their reputation, instead of finding the best way to improve sales and increase customer engagment.
June 25: Still time to improve. We've been living in our Ogilvie home for 10months now. After two weeks the ~100kg door fell down only moments after people had been under it. This damage was sorted but this could have led to serious injury. While the neighbours hood is nicely done and the home is well designed the follow up on snagging has been disappointing. They seem to go by an approach of hoping you give up chasing them as they are ridiculous at getting anything organised and often leave things worse than they were or half done. They came to secure some roof tiles and managed to cut a hole in our flat roof and damaged other tiles, neither of which is still not suitably repaired. I'll keep chasing them but unless they are proactive on sorting snagging they'll never be 5 stars. Update Oct25: Still very little movement on any of the snagging items reported, flat roof still damaged and guttering loose on house in other places. Update Jan26: One day of snagging work done but a massive amount still outstanding and emails to Blair who I had been dealing with have not been responded to for two weeks.
Fundamentally a good basic property. However, there was a woeful lack of storage in the kitchen of this 4 bedroom Colvin. We are still waiting on some (flooring) snagging issues nearly a year after moving in.Good thermal efficiency
