Lack of Integrity As A Company

A lot of the teachers and classes are great. However, the company as a whole lacks integrity and decent customer service skills. I have had nothing but negative experiences with their customer service. They continuously keep referral coupons that they claim they give when referring other families, and several ongoing additional customer service issues.Would love once there is a platform that has a lot of the same teachers, but more integrity based customer services and leaders for a newer platform.

Scammers

They advertise 80 "free" credits, so I tried to sign up and I did receive the 80 credits, but my credit card was charged $40 that very day.

Lots of choices on different subject

Lots of choices on different subject. Teachers are nice and the curriculum is helpful. Easy to register. I can't provide 5 stars due to the membership program recently changed. I like the old payment method, pay the full fee on each subject that being regristered. The membership credit is so confuse and not flexible for those not home school kids. If they can have option for just paying what being regristered and not forcing to join the monthly membership, I will give 5 stars.

overpriced and scammy behavior

they charge you after cancelling. prices are outrageous and classes are set to never align with purchased credit plans so you are stuck walking away with unused credits. total scam, they send no notice of a new payment date approaching. the worst possible behavior for a subscription service and I bet 25% or more of their revenue is from people that tried to cancel or forgot they signed up. there are no options to talk to a person, I will gladly cheer their demise.there is a better free alternative: Khan Academy.

Outschool offers a lot of classes. My daughters enjoy the cooking and art class. Easy to schedule, transfer or pause. Teachers respond quickly.

Outschool stole money from my bank account on a paused membership then blocked me

I opened an account on outschool for my child, he used the first month and I realized the credit system works out very expensive per class. Especially for what the classes are - just playing Minecraft with a “teacher” zero instruction or learning happening. My membership was set to renew on February 19th and I really wasn’t keen to keep using the service. In one class my son didn’t even have the correct software and just sat watching others play. The teacher commented she would ask for a refund of his credits on his behalf - which never happened. I paused the membership on February 18th so I could think about whether we should continue using outschool. On February 20th I was billed for a class and all remaining credits in my account were taken. I immediately emailed support to which they responded that being paused doesn’t stop being charged for enrollments. Well then what’s the point of pausing your membership if you’re still getting charged!!?? I tried to reply to that email asking to be refunded and removed from the classes. My email bounced back. I thought it was a system error so I tried to send the email twice more the next day - with the same results - the message couldn’t be delivered. Chloe from outschool blocked me!! In all my years this has got to be one of the crazier customer service experience I’ve ever had. Being blocked by a company when asking for a refund when they took money from my bank account on a paused membership! These guys are fraudsters.

Absolutely awful system

Absolutely awful system. I enrolled my son, who is homeschooled for some enrichment type classes. We created an entire schedule implementing Outschool with his normal classes such as AoPS honors English and Math. Since Outschool charges for credits on a weekly basis, my son's entire enrollment was dropped when my bank declined a transaction from Outschool thinking it was fraud. I received one email, fixed it within a day after notifying my bank and assumed my son could continue his classes. NOPE. He was removed from ALL ACTIVE CLASSES, even after I purchased a lump of credits to avoid this occurring in the future. I reached out to support, asking about re-enrolling my son in his active classes. I was assured it would be looked into. Instead of assisting with my re-enrollment question, I received a copy/pasted "here's how to add payment backup methods so this doesn't happen again." No solution, no assistance. Absolutely insane. The classes are "meh" - A German class I enrolled my son in, was canceled due to no one else enrolling. The material is basic at best. I am immensely grateful for Beast Academy and AoPS as educational platforms - they take enrollment seriously and have a wonderful communication system both for parents and students. Outschool is a ponzi scheme.

Lots of choice for online learning

Lots of choice for online learning. My son loves it. Ease of use and no need to drive him to specific classes. We use it more for subjects like art, language etc. and also hobbies like Kaiju topics.

Easy!

It’s almost too easy to just sign up on the site, pick a plan that works for you, pick your classes and to see the most focus you’ve seen from your child!

Outschool for 6 years now…

My daughter has been taking Outschool classes since I began homeschooling her in fourth grade. She is now 16. There are so many classes to choose from, there is even teen confidence built in coaches.

Excellent Spanish class!

We loved our Spanish class! Our Teacher at Spanish Skool Adventures made learning fun, engaging, and very interactive. The kids learned conversational skills, new vocabulary, the alphabet, numbers, and more — all in a short time without feeling rushed. We really appreciated the extra games and flashcards she sent for practice, and the focus on spelling is a great bonus. The pace was excellent, and the class covered a lot while keeping the kids excited and involved.Wonderful experience — highly recommend Outschool!

Its A Scam

We used Outschool for most of the past three years. The effectiveness of the teachers have always varied, with most not so great, but there are some real bright spots. The system always allowed my son to try a class for a week and then make a decision--we paid only for one week, a fee that was listed. But now the website has gone to a membership model that is less than transparent and if you decide to leave as a member, you lose the monthly payment you have made. I was paying about $400 per month for two classes that met about an hour per week (each) on Zoom. There would be no grades for the courses either. But think about it--if a student took 5-6 classes per week, it would only be 6 hours of classes, and would cost 10-12 thousand dollars per year for those 6 hours per week of classes. What used to cost 20-30 dollars per week, now costs approximately 50 dollars. But they are able to hide it through a model. What an amazing scam.
