Is it possible to get help from someone…
Is it possible to get help from someone who speaks English without a strong accent??? This has become ridiculous. I don’t care where anyone comes from but when as we are all immigrants. However, every time I contact the help center I am forced to struggle to understand the person on the other end because of the strong accent. In addition, when it’s an Indian accent, they ten to speak very quickly which only adds to the problem. I would love to force an executive at RBC to contact the help center and see how they do at understanding their help personnel. Absolutely unacceptable. Take my advice, find an insurer who has help center personnel that speak fluent English without no accents!

Sudden Increase in premium
Premium is increased from 1600 to 2134/yr. the average insurance in NS is $800 to $1000. We have been charged $2134 for 2026 coverage. it seems there was one email notification about this increase, which we eventually missed and our card was charged $2134. As spoke to Customer representative, cancelling this insurance to shop around would cost us $1000 cancellation fee. we are stuck!

RBC Insurance: Delayed Processing and Incomplete Service
In 2024, RBC Insurance took approximately six months to process and approve an insurance application. While the application was ultimately approved, RBC failed to provide the required documentation or agreements needed to complete the transaction, leaving the policies inactive and unusable.During the approval process, RBC agents made sales representations suggesting that policy terms might improve over time. This statement was unnecessary and problematic. When we later requested that these representations be formally included in the agreement, RBC declined. More concerning, RBC also declined to provide the very agreement that they themselves had approved, making completion of the transaction impossible. At every level of escalation, including formal complaints, involvement of the RBC Ombudsman, and engagement with the regulator, RBC demonstrated a consistent inability to:Properly read submitted materialsUnderstand the issues raisedComplete or furnish documentation tied to their own approvalDespite multiple opportunities, RBC was unable to execute a basic administrative function: providing a finalized agreement corresponding to an approved application. In prior attempts to post a review, RBC was offered a 30-day opportunity to correct these issues. RBC declined to engage, and the review was subsequently removed rather than addressed.Prospective customers are strongly encouraged to retain an independent, regulated insurance professional to review and coordinate any RBC Insurance application. Based on this experience, RBC appears unable to reliably service its own insurance files or complaint-handling processes.Given the issues experienced, RBC Insurance is encouraged to work proactively with its regulator to ensure its application, documentation, and complaint-handling practices operate in line with accepted professional and regulatory standards.Based on the above, I would strongly recommend evaluating alternative insurance providers before considering RBC Insurance.

I press * and it sends me back to the beging of the automation. happend 5 times in a row. Doesn't seem to be any way to talk to a human. Just around and around in circles till you give up.

Disappointing experience with RBC home and auto
Contacted RBC to get home and auto insurance quote because they had a discount promo with my work.I spent a total 6 hours on the phone with 3 different advisors. They started off giving me a really great quote that was cheap. Then each consecutive time I called, the quote went higher and higher and eventually they said they could not insure one of my children because of a tiny fender bender(that we did not put a claim through anyways) that happend 5 years ago.All my information never changed but the quotes practically doubled by the last time I talked to an advisor.Had to repeat my info over and over because the advisors don’t keep a log of the calls and obviously don’t create an account where they could write all the details down so people don’t have to repeat so often. It was such a frustrating and disappointing experience. Be very wary if you are trying to get an auto or home insurance quote. You can’t trust the advisors on their abilities. Plus, they are just reading everything from a script.

Omg...the worst company to deal with…
Omg...the worst company to deal with and did not go with them for that reason!!! First you have to accept their privacy policy which basically says you have to agree to all RBC share all information you give them with the entire world before they will even tell you what they can offer. And if you do agree, they could even tell us after spending an hr on the phone whether they could provide contents insurance during a move!!! They wanted us to commit to insurance first then they would ask the underwriters. Wt@? So they want me to switch current insurer and commit to insurance in new home before they can tell me if they will insure my stuff in transit or in storage? What a joke of a company. Promised to get us info in an email....crickets 5 days now. Took us an hr to get through to an agent. Guess they spend more resources on denying claims then customer service. Their prices are exorbitant as well. For your own sanity...go with someone else.

Except to be on hold for HOURS before…
Except to be on hold for HOURS before anyone even talks to you. We were clients for 12yrs. (3 vehicles, motorcycle, home). HB got in a crash with the motorcycle. It took 5 months to settle and then we were quoted $1500 for the brand new one. Two months later when the policy renewed RBC upped it to $10 000 just for the bike. We never had a claim before. We canceled everything with them.

Unacceptable delay processing International Insurance claim
My parents purchased travel insurance for their travels for Nov 2024 to early Feb 2025. I've completed their claim file on Mar 4, 2025 and as of today, Jun 12, 2025. The status of the claim is the same as when I first submitted. I've called multiple times and all the representative can say is they have a back log in claims and that the claim will be reviewed in the order it was received. They can take the payment for the coverage quite quickly but processing claims, they are sure taking their time. At this point I wouldn't ever recommending RBC insurance to anyone.

I had a Life Insurance policy with them…
I had a Life Insurance policy with them for over five years. I recently received a call from an agent stating I have no beneficiary listed on the policy a basic review of the application five years ago someone should have caught this, but it was missed, then the agent told me some wrong information that in the event that a claim was started my family wouldn't get the monies. Instead of saying it would go to the estate. The second issue when I did provide the correct information, RBC twice spelled my spouse's first name incorrectly on the policy.

This company is horrible
This company is horrible. My bank had a technical issue and the payment bounced. They cancelled my insurance. I spent at least 3 hours on the phone waiting for them to answer and get the policy reinstated. When I bought a new car I was cat fished. They told me to Get the TAG system on the new vehicle and my insurance premium would increase by $8 per month on the new vehicle. They lied. It went up by $70 per month AFTER I spent money getting the TAG system installed. They're despicable and deceptive and insurance companies wonder why people hate them so much. It's not worth the savings to go with them. I missed a payment on my house insurance through TD and I was able to log in one day later and make the payment no problems, no cancellation of policy and no repercussions. RBC Should be reprimanded for their predatory business practices.

Truly pathetic service.
Every time I call the recording says they are experiencing higher than expected call volumes. Perhaps it's time to alter you expectations so you are not surprised. Might also consider hiring more staff to handle those "unexpected" call volumes. While you are at it, consider hiring staff that are fluent in english without a strong accent. Every time I call I have to speak to someone with such a strong accent that I have to constantly ask them to repeat what they are saying. There is no reason for this. If this does not change I will be changing providers.

Called to add a new car to my insurance…
Called to add a new car to my insurance policy, I have to call three times, two time request a call back they called back after more than three hours and the third time I was on hold for more than two and half hours then I gave up and closed the line. If they their charges higher than other insurance companies they should higher more employees to help their customers. Decided to shop for a different insurance provider. DO NOT RECOMMEND RBC INSURANCE.

Need a change on my car insurance
Need a change on my car insurance, this is the second time now I have been on hold for over 2 1/2 hours. At beginning of call they offer for you to have a callback so today I did that and was supposed to be called back in 10 to 16 mins nothing so I called again and now I have been on hold for 2 hours and 58 mins. This is completely unacceptable. I guess they just have 1 person in the call centre working. RBC I think you should sort something out as you will lose customers so fast. Once my renewal is up I will be moving on I can't keep waiting on hold for half of my work day every time I need to talk to you.

Very dissapointed in an $80 cancellation fee
I have had nothing but good experiences with RBC insurance over the past 10+ years of both car and tenant insurance. Today I called to cancel my car insurance because British Colombia insures residents through a provincial program. This has nothing to do with me switching companies, I am obligated to use what they offer. I was charged a $80 cancellation fee which they would not waive, even though I have been such a loyal client. I then said that I needed to restart tenant insurance in my new apartment and if they waived this fee I would happily use them for this service. They came back with "No, nothing we can do". I am extremely disappointed in these business practices and I will absolutely not be reinstating my tenant insurance with this company. With all that said, the call back service is lovely because you do not have to wait on hold, and the man I spoke with was extremely polite and helpful.
