I had a clogged kitchen drain that was leaking and causing a lot of inconvenience. I’m extremely impressed with the service I received from the amazing plumber- Dominic from Reliance Home Comfort. He arrived on time, was professional, courteous, and clearly very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the issue, explained the cause in simple terms, and fixed the clog efficiently without any mess. What really stood out was his honesty and transparency — no unnecessary upselling, just straightforward and reliable service. The drain is now flowing perfectly, and everything was cleaned up before he left. The point to note here is that the same issue was not fixed properly by the previous two plumbers from Reliance. Dominic took it on himself to fix the issue thoroughly, despite the extra time and effort taken.

Never Again

Be careful with Reliance. Make sure you cancel any warranty before the renewal date. Unlike many services that go month to month Reliance goes year to year. If you have repairs done they may not fix the problem. I spent almost $900 to fix our furnace but it did not solve the issues. Reliance would not credit the $1000 back. Eventually they agreed to take it off of a new furnace. I decided to use a local company instead and the service and products were much better. Reliance - never again.

I had a very bad experience with…

I had a very bad experience with Reliance: they convinced my spouse to buy a protection plan during a water heater service call, which she says she did not approve, but they charged us without sending any contract details for three months and then added late fees despite no bills being received. I repeatedly requested verification of recorded calls, but they said it would take 3 weeks and never followed up. For a heating issue, they initially denied coverage, forcing us to pay for diagnostics from other companies; when we learned parts were covered and called back Reliance, they convinced us to replace the furnace for $6,000, which didn't solve the problem. Upon cancellation due to dissatisfaction, they still demand payment. I strongly advise against them; verify everything before signing or accepting anything over the phone.

Our hot water heater ruptured

Our hot water heater ruptured. When my wife called to get a tech out ASAP because of the emergency the rep on the phone thought that was a good time to try and upsell her for a new furnace. Since then there has been nothing but trouble.

I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Reliance Home Comfort. We have been renting a hot water heating and storage tank from them for almost 13 years and have consistently paid the monthly rental without issue. Over the past 6 weeks, I had to call them nearly 12 times regarding a hot water problem. Each time, a different technician came and provided a different diagnosis.First, I was told to replace the mixing valve. I paid $380 out of pocket for a plumber to change it, but the issue was not resolved. Then I was advised to replace the cartridge in the shower faucet, which cost me another $140. After inspecting everything, my plumber clearly determined that the problem was inside the storage tank itself.Despite repeatedly explaining this to Reliance, they continued insisting that the tank was not the issue. Only after I firmly stated that I would cancel the contract if the tank was not replaced did they finally agree to change it. Once the tank was replaced, the problem was immediately resolved. This entire situation caused unnecessary stress, expense, and inconvenience. My 85-year-old mother had to repeatedly go downstairs to open the door for technicians, which was physically painful and very difficult for her. For two months, our household dealt with ongoing frustration that could have been avoided. After 13 years of loyal rental payments, I expected better service, accountability, and customer care. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing.

I wish I could give zero star

I wish I could give zero star. Reliance Home Comfort is a fraud company. Please be extremely cautious before choosing this company.Accountability, integrity, and customer care should be at the heart of any service business. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Reliance Home Comfort has been the complete opposite. What should have been a straightforward furnace diagnosis turned into a stressful, expensive ordeal that remains unresolved. In short: Our furnace was intermittently working (inducer running, ignitor lighting, flame starting but not sustaining). During the first service visit, a visible spark occurred while the technician was testing the unit. Immediately after that spark, the furnace completely failed. We were then told the control board was defective and paid $1,615.90 for its replacement. The furnace still did not work.Three technicians, including a senior technician from the same company, later reassessed the situation. The senior technician confirmed that the original diagnosis was incorrect and that the board appeared to have been damaged during service. We were told we deserved a refund. However, when we escalated this to the Office of the President, we received a cold response and a complete denial of the refund — without, as we were informed, consulting the senior technician or reviewing his findings.Subsequent diagnostics identified the actual issue as the gas valve — not the board. Despite this, the company continues to deny responsibility for the unnecessary board replacement. We have now been without heat for 7 days in freezing temperatures, with a baby at home. At this point, further repairs would bring the total close to the cost of a new furnace. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and financially burdensome. Customers deserve transparency and accountability when mistakes are made. We are still hoping for a fair resolution.

Great Service and Fair Prices

We have used both the plumbing and heating divisions of Reliance. They installed a new garboretor for us and the service tech was prompt and efficient. We have not had any problems with it since it was installed quite some time ago and we use it several times a day. We felt the price for supply and installation was very fair. The next time we called them it was because one of our 16 year old furnaces went out when it was very cold. The service tech identified a problem with our heat exchanger and researched it to find it has a 20 year warranty on it. He also checked our other furnace and found that it was going to fail soon. Both heat exchangers were replaced under warranty and we haven’t had any further problems. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Reliance Home Comfort.

We had a wonderful experience with the technician that visited our home to install our tankless hot water system, and filtration system. Everything went smoothly without a hitch, and they have been back a few times to show us how to swap the filters and ensure everything is running smoothly! Very happy overall. Serviced by the Calgary, Alberta team. Top notch!!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

AC died summer of 2024. Decided to have Reliance replace it and the furnace at the same time. Installation came with a Nest Programmable thermostat. Several days after the installation I and my immediate neighbours had to be evacuated for a natural gas leak - from the gas line on the new furnace. Reliance was sent back to fix it and then the work had to be inspected. Reliance gave me $500 for that. The Nest has never worked well. It's rarely accurate and I'd set it for e.g. 19 and then come home at day's end and it would be 16 in the house. I had signed up for a maintenance plan, so I called a tech in December 2025. He said the Nest appeared to be working fine, but that a sensor on the 1.5 year old furnace (!) needed cleaning and the furnace trap was leaking. Said he'd order both to be delivered to my house. The trap finally arrived after 6 weeks, and a follow-up email and phone call from me. Nobody knew anything about the thermostat. The "parts department" would call me about that - never did. Tech arrived at the end of January and replaced the trap. Knew nothing about the thermostat - had to reorder it. Thermostat arrived several days later and I called to book another appointment. Was told I'd be charged $120 for that appointment, but tech would have a machine and I could pay by Interac. Tech arrived next day. Can't take Interac, and bill was $315.27. Tried to pay by credit card - machine wouldn't work. Woman from Reliance phoned next day and took payment info over phone and e-mailed me a receipt. Canceled my account with Reliance. Today Reliance called and told me my bill was still outstanding. Same woman I spoke to two weeks ago when I paid it. My advice: run far, run fast.Edited, as Reliance has since responded: I have emailed Reliance twice in the past three months about this. It took an additional phone call to get a response the first time, although it didn't help. The response to the second email, which included everything except yesterday's demand that I pay a bill I had already paid, was basically "well, that's the way it is." Why would I believe that a third contact would make any difference?

Crooks

I have never had a worse experience in my life than dealing with these incompetent crooks. After paying off an inflated bill that they will not provide me a confirmation of payment.

referral bonus

my mom has been waiting for her furnace reffer bonus since November 2025 she bought a new furnace from them and after her refferal I bought one too, she is supposed to get a $250 bonus which the sales rep offered himself....well i contacted him a few times with no answer back i called the reliance customer service few times and was supposed to get call back but nothing, they advertise their referral bonus everywhere so im wondering if anyone really gets it....since the sales adviser filled out the proper paperwork and told my mom she will receive the money within a month so around end of Dec. she was very excited to get some extra money ....I am very disappointed how they ignored her and all my calls and dont advertise something thats not true.

This review is regarding the service I…

This review is regarding the service I received from a Reliance HVAC technician who came to check my AHU/furnace in my condo. The technician came because my unit was not heating properly. He told me I would need to remove my dryer because the space was tight. He had difficulty opening the panel and instead decided cut a piece out of the panel to look inside. Instead of taking more time to remove it properly. He had to tape it up afterwards with aluminum tape. After only a short inspection and very little testing, he told me the circulating pump was not working and that the part would be very difficult to find. He said I would most likely need to replace the entire unit at a cost of over $10,000 plus tax. Shortly after he left, he called and said the part was no longer made. A Reliance representative later called me and quoted a replacement cost between $7,000 and $10,000.I asked for the technician’s contact information and the part number so I could try to find the part myself, but Reliance refused to provide that information. The phone number I had for the technician would not accept calls. She offered to call him and ask him to call me. I never heard back from him.Because I was uncomfortable with how little time he spent diagnosing the problem, how quick he came up with his conclusion and how little testing was done especially because he had limited space, I decided to contacted another licensed HVAC company for a second opinion. Their technician removed the dryer himself, opened the panel properly, and did a full inspection. He drained the system and found that the issue was simply air trapped in the water lines. After fixing this and resetting the thermostat, my unit began working perfectly, including the circulating pump, which was never defective. He also told me that the part Reliance claimed was discontinued is still being manufactured.Because of this second opinion, I avoided replacing my unit unnecessarily and saved up to $10,000. I live alone on a single income, and being told I needed to spend that amount caused me a lot of stress and worry.is extremely concerning to me that the technician made such a serious and costly diagnosis without conducting proper testing or taking the necessary steps to fully assess the issue. He had little regard for the financial impact this would have, as he advised that I would need to spend thousands of dollars to replace the unit and not because the unit was broken but because of his lack of due diligence and negligent troubleshooting and failure to do his job properly. This experience raises serious concerns about the quality of service, accuracy of diagnoses, and level of care being provided to customers. It is troubling to think of how many other customers may have been advised to replace expensive equipment unnecessarily due to incomplete or improper assessments. This situation has significantly affected my trust in Reliance Home Comfort, and I believe it is important that this matter and the technician’s conduct be thoroughly reviewed to ensure customers are treated fairly, honestly, and professionally. Please get a second opinion especially if they claim you have to replace anything that costs a substantial amount of money.

I have never had a worst experience in my entire life than dealing with these incompetent crooks. After paying off an inflated bill that they will not provide me a confirmation of payment. This has been going on for over a week and when speaking with them again today I was told it would take another 3 to 5 business days. I have been informed 2 days ago that they received the payment but they cannot send me an email stating such. The $7900+ was gone immediately but they continue to roadblock me from providing a final bill with a zero balance. The process since I asked Reliance to provide a total bill has now been a month. Incompetent crooks.

Had my very first female Reliance technician! Kristin checked out everything to inspect the furnace regarding ongoing odor in the house. She was very professional and pleasant and left me feeling less stressed about the HVAC system which I had been concerned was causing my ongoing headaches.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service! Called to book an appointment for hot water heater not working. Customer service rep advised they did not do this type of work. When I advised they had been here before for same service they advised they no longer did this work. When I advised that I was looking on their website and it said they did was put on hold. Rep came back and admitted they did this work then booked an appointment for same day between 1-6pm. At 5:04 tech phoned and said he was enroute and would be here by 6:05 as per his GPS. When he had not arrived by 7:45 I called back and was put on hold. Rep advised he would be here by 8:30. Their online system kept updating saying delayed by 15 minutes. Was a no show so I called back at 10:45 and was put on hold. Rep then advised no one was coming and could not provide any reason. I then proceeded to make a complaint which the rep said they would submit via email. I asked to be copied on complaint which was being submitted on my behalf and was advised they would not do this. They advised I would be contacted in 3-5 business days which I have not. Upon reading the terrible reviews for Reliance with similar complaints there is something terribly wrong with this company. With overwhelming complaints I believe this company has serious issues. DO NOT USE RELIANCE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Reliance is untrustworthy

Reliance is the most untrustworthy company I have ever experienced, and here is why: 1. They came to inspect my furnace and told me that it is broken, needs replacing immediately and tried extremely hard to get me to rent a new furnace from them. I got a second opinion who told me my furnace is absolutely fine and has at least another 10 years before I need to worry about replacing it. 2. I rent the reverse osmosis from reliance. They used to come in and replace it every year free of charge as part of the contract. Now, they are charging $150 or I can do it myself (with no instructions on how to do it). I will never again contact Reliance.
