We have used TurboTax the last 2 years and this year (our 3rd year) was a complete disaster. From our uploaded docs properly uploaded with non-stop glitches on our "Tax Expert's" end supposedly to them constantly sending us different amounts of what our fee would be (no one on the same page over there) TurboTax having to return monies they overcharged us (3-5 weeks for return) and giving us different amounts of what they would be refunding us vs our actual fee for return, to no one on the same page in their dept.'s and every "Tax Expert" getting involved telling us something different each time, to hours and days of our time being wasted dealing with their nickeling and diming us on tax forms we didn't even need for our return. When I say DISASTER I am not exaggerating in the slightest!! Save yourself a bunch of money and aggravation and find a real Tax Professional to do your taxes. You will probably pay less having a CPA do your taxes. In decades of having our taxes done, I have never seen such unprofessional behavior and incompetence in my entire experience of filing taxes. We will never use this outfit again. Also seeing their stellar reviews online is a crock! They have clearly bought off the marketplace on reviews, because last week I pulled up about 30 reviews on Google, Reddit, etc. of people complaining about this years disaster of having their taxes done with full service so called "Tax Experts". NEVER AGAIN!!! Take your Taxes to actual professionals that have actual experience and won't compromise you on ever level!
This company is just stealing from people. I had to catch up on my taxes cause of an accident. So 2023 24 and current. So they charge me for a download for 23 and 24 then online for 25. I had some questions I didnt want to make a mistake on so I paid all of them and if course here comes more charges for state. Finally I get them all done and it won't allow me to efile 23 so I can move on. They say ill have to mail 23 and 24 in and wait a week or more check back see if I can file 25 yet. Im just trying to het this done. I call the IRS they say efile is still good for 23 and 24. Some more research and use a program called free tax usage and not only did it allow me to efile the fed and state. ( state was 17.99$ but I can move onto the next year etc. Oh it was FREE for the fed. FREE after turbo tax screwed me. Ill never use that company again total garbage stealing people's money.
$114.20 for a simple return. No schedules. Income only from Social Security and interest. Can't back out of multiple upgrades. Used Turbo Tax for 15+ years. Never again.
Just downloaded Turbotax 2025. Have been buying this for over ten years now. Had problems with 2025 and spent 4 hours on the phone and another 4 hours working on fixing issues. The result .... Turbotax will provide a refund ... and not fix the problem. Don't use Turbotax is the message I have!
Would give TurboTax no stars if I could. Charge for the tax program I used was $90. I was charged $110, for self-employed package, which does not apply to me. Then when I contacted them through their chat, I was charged another $180. They are the epitome of dishonesty. Will never use again.
Weak software poorly trained "experts" who were only barely helpful. Promised a 30% reduction then bailed on the promise. Dishonest disingenuous and I expect will not be around for 2026 returns. A lot of bad products survive. This one won't
I have used TurboTax for about 15 years and never had a problem. Forced to the online this year. The app is terrible. Not at all like the desktop version. First of all I entered all the data for an energy tax credit which I definitely qualify for and the app says I do not. Then after going through the whole input with it telling me I owed $1,447 in taxes in the upper right hand corner I get to the end and do an error check. I fixed a couple of errors and then my taxes owed in the upper left window said I owe $549,565. Absolutely no way to verify where this number came from. When I manually calculated my total taxable income less my standard deduction, I show I own zero taxes. My standard deduction is grater than my taxable income. Yet I owe $550,000 in taxes. I called TurboTax customer service and they were of no help. I am going to use FreeTax USA this year. No more TurboTax.
I got to the end ready to click file my return and pay. The payment shows I selected the Premium Expert Assist package and I owe $200. I never selected that package to begin. We all file to capture every single dime back as much as possible and it's disturbing how companies such as this want to milk their customer base. I been a customer for more than 10 years. I backed out and going with a higher reviewed Tax Slayer.
I've used TurboTax for many years and never had any problems. This year my refund was issued on 2/11/2026. On 3/4/2026, I called customer service to find out why my money had been deposited into an account at a bank I have never used and is across the country. After over 1.5 hours on the phone with them I never got an answer. I called the bank where the money was deposited and after 5 minutes on the phone with them I was able to move my refund into my account. How is that TurboTax employees don't know how the system works or why I was never contacted about how to access and move my money? Will not be using their services again!The first woman I spoke to at TurboTax was incredibly sweet and had amazing customer service!
I have used TurboTax since 2019 and have been pleased with them - until this year. Cory Doctorow's phrase "enshittification" captures their process perfectly - higher price which is hidden coupled with a product that looks "cooler" but is less efficient and much less accurate. Had used a desktop version in prior years; got redirected to online version this year. Got just about done but needed one more form, included in prior years in base but now available only in Premium for another $60. Tried to contact customer service; waited for 25 minutes to speak to someone; she put me on hold and then I was cut off after 40 minutes. Purchased Premium reluctantly - and then it didn't work correct generating gibberish. Also needed a state return. Again an additional cost that I knew and had worked fine in prior years. This time it made a $7,500 error in the state's favor and I ended up doing it myself. Beware!
Absolute trash and should be removed if they don’t advertise correctly.
I have used turbotax for at least 10 years, maybe 20. But this years version is simply awful. They intentionally leave credits and deductions hard to find in an effort to upsell you.
I was looking into using their service and was immediately immersed in their tax planning with no introduction to their service. They asked me to to pay for a trial. I did, then realized they would not be able to help me as I live in Portugal. I canceled within a half-hour and asked for a refund and was denied. I consider this stolen money. THEFT! s$108.
The app is pushy in general.If you choose a plane to go forward with, you will never find a way to go back and start a different plane or start over and you need to check everywhere to find a way(haha good try). This is not a user/customer friendly approach.They will sum up your plane cost higher at the end of your filling with some excuses. They’re thinking you’re …. Person!Business should build on trust!
Unbelievable number of issues. From what I've read, you don't want to chance using this if you're using a Mac as I did. It took dozens of tries to submit the return but I continued to receive messages urging me to finish the return even though I had already done so. Fortunately, at least one submission made it's way through and I received my refund. However, I continued to receive messages for several months urging me to finish submitting my return and warnings that the IRS would penalize me.
If I could give them 0 I would. They kess up my filing status and when I finally got someone to help they couldn't understand why it was making me file as single. Spent over 40 minutes on phone with them and got cut off they didn't fix it and still haven't. So I went to taxslayer where they got me $700 more back and I didn't even have to tell them I file head of house they just knew from my info. Use TurboTax if you want it done wrong and you don't want your money back. Turbotax refund was way less then the other 3 preparers I checked. Horrible and they want $150 for expert help 😅 comical
Very disappointed with TurboTax this year. I paid to e-file my taxes, but after completing the process and paying, the system would not allow me to e-file because of a special case this year. This limitation was never disclosed before payment. Customer service refused to issue a refund even though the service I paid for could not be used. @turbotax I hope someone can help me with this issue without having to go deeper with this claim. Otherwise I'll file a complaint with Florida Bar.
Stay away from Turbotax!!!They are misleading saying it's free!They charged me 194.00 for a 190 refund. After that I found out there were lawsuits against them for misleading everyone. Stay away from them.
I sought professional assistance specifically because the software was generating an error message stating my Virginia return could not be e-filed. After paying for and speaking with a specialist, it was determined that the issue was not due to any error, omission, or complexity in my personal tax data. Instead, the block was caused by a Virginia Department of Taxation system constraint/conformity issue that was entirely outside of my control and unrelated to the preparation of my return.The specialist was unable to provide a workaround or a software fix, and the ultimate outcome (having to paper-file) remained exactly the same as it was before I paid for the consultation. Essentially, I paid for a service that was unnecessary and provided no actionable resolution to the software's inability to transmit the return. when inquired about cancelling the service request and asked for a refund, the specialist simply advised me that there would be no way to get my refund and refused to provide ay info about how to request for the refund and hung up.
