Completely deceptive coverage and…

Completely deceptive coverage and reimbursement policies. The only scenario in which this policy makes sense is if your dog has multiple, different, health issues per year. A single, life threatening malignancy that required $5K in treatment was reimbursed for $500 because it was a "single incident"

AKC pet insurance is no longer any good. 10 years ago, they were great. As of 2-3 yrs ago, pretty bad.

I've had AKC insurance for over a decade. Up until 3 years ago, they handled claims quickly, fairly, and now that has all changed. On a $2400 vet bill, I got back about $330. I have two policies, and all the bells and whistles. My monthly premium is slightly over that. I spoke to them, got nowhere. They only pay out $50 for an exam, when in the NE it costs almost $200 for a dog. They don't cover a lot of things that they used to. My dogs are 3 and 4 and my cats are 3. So its not an old age thing nor pre existing conditions. I did shop around, got a lot of quotes, settled on Pet's Best.

This team is amazing!

This team is amazing!! They have walked me thru the process of everything helped me get organized. Helped me turn in the claims and waited while I figured out how to upload stuff..patient kind and understanding. I'm in awe ! I'm tickled and I feel blessed !!

Ive never written a review in my life…

Ive never written a review in my life but Im beyond upset with this company. Coverage is spotty at best they put limits on everything to barely cover your premium. But thats not my issue. My dog had ingested a balloon in April and needed to go to the vet to get it out, I submitted the claim and received a small portion back but like the limits I still did not complain. Last weekend my dog was playing with a baseball and got to the string and ingested some which was not passing so I returned to the vet which led me to the emergency room. This visit cost me just under 1500.00 of which I will not receive any reimbursement from because they said it was "repetitive and has previously occurred so was not covered". Make that make sense. So if you think your pet could possibly do something wrong or be injured more than once with any similarity I would not suggest using this company.

poor coverage

Despite the reason for surgery being complications secondary to a genetic condition and not the genetic condition inherently they refused to cover treatment for my dog.

Typical insurance company

Typical insurance company that will spend an inordinate amount of time and energy (money) into looking to deny your claim. I got the 30 days free when registering my dog and by happenstance had a claim..urinary tract infection for a female puppy and they arbitrarily claimed it was a congenital defect. The Vet said no way. Not worth the fight since I will not be renewing and definitely not worth your money to get this insurance.

Is AKC using AI to deny legitimate claims?

I was pleased with AKC insurance when I first signed up (and, even recommended it to my fellow dog exhibitors), but competence has taken a steep nosedive over the past few months, with claims adjusters denying claims made less than 30 days after a covered event as having exceeded the 180 day limit. I strongly suspect they have either instituted the use of AI to deny claims based upon the inability of their AI software to accurately process claims, or they’ve hired employees who don’t understand how to read a calendar.

Overpriced insurance plan with unclear coverage.…

My claim was denied on the removal of an undescended testicle in a dog. I appealed and was informed that I would need additional coverage to the ever escalating premiums that I already pay. This was not a neuter, but a necessary procedure done to prevent cancer, which is a risk with undescended testicles. AKC pet insurance is overpriced and has many add on with coverage, not a basic wellness coverage and/or illness/accident coverage. I would not recommend and will be cancelling the policy.

AKC pet insurance was the first option…

AKC pet insurance was the first option I considered the day I brought my beloved Fiona home. I am so very thankful for everything AKC pet insurance did for Fiona and I. They always responded quickly to our claims. I would most definitely recommend AKC pet insurance to anyone considering pet insurance.

Denied claims based on their error

AKC Pet Insurance denied all claims related to the condition that led to my dog's death (bowel obstruction) because they had paid me $10 for when I took him to the vet when he was vomiting a few months ago. The vet took X-rays at that time and found no obstruction. Their customer service representative provided no recourse and left me with over $10,000 of bills for a very traumatic experience that ended in my beloved young dog's death. They claim that they cannot revise the previous claim because it has been "finalized."

Very poor claim service

I submitted a claim on 1-9-25 for our dog who had broken a toenail bad enough to have the vet cut it all the way back. Since that time AKC pet insurance has repeatedly declined to pay our claim saying the invoice was created using Aspose software that can be altered. Which is entirely incorrect. Our Vet does not use this software. Our vet has sent in an invoice, I have forwarded an invoice from our vet by email & so far nothing. These claims people need to learn to pick up the phone to contact a vendor if there is a question.

I insured two dogs with Pet Partners…

I insured two dogs with Pet Partners one beginning in November of 2023 and another beginning in May 2024. For two dogs per month it was $112. On November 4th 2024 I was charged $283 for one month for two dogs, more than doubling my premium with no notification to me that this was going to happen. On December 4th again I was charged $283 for one month and that’s when I noticed the charge and realized that I had been charged the same thing for November. I called because I was sure there was a mistake. I was told Washington state just updated their insurance information on different breeds, which is ridiculous. I asked for a refund since number one my one dog was added in May 2024 so the year quote shouldn’t have changed until 5/2025 and two I wasn’t notified. I was told Pet Partners changed my policy to have both dogs renew at the same time so they could up my premium (I did not ask them to combine the two policy’s). It was just a way to get $283 a month out of me. They would not refund me and I couldn’t afford to keep two pets on their insurance so I only kept one at $167 a month. On February 4th 2025 they charged me $175 AGAIN the policy premium price went up without any notification to me. This company is out of control violating insurance fraud. My premiums should not change monthly. I want a refund for the entire year. I have not submitted any claims and I can’t afford a company that raises my premiums without me at least getting a noticed and a chance to look into different options. It did not know that they would be more than doubled almost tripled during the Christmas season and I didn’t have an opportunity to look in advance for something different.

Very Frustrated!!!

Policy cancelled with no courtesy call! My bank account was compromised; therefore, my account information had to change. As a patient with 4-5 appointments a week, I very seldom have time to check or read emails. I hadn't missed 1 payment until this payment didn't process and they cancelled the policy for my Duchess! Companies have become very impersonal; yet, have no problem taking our money. Duchess's policy has been reinstated; but, I think I will do some research to see if there are better companies available to insure her!

Don't get this insurance

Signed up for Pet insurance with AKC in May of this year. Was supposed to get a free 30 days never happened filed a claim in July and they cancelled me on 8/8/2024. Horrible company

AKC fabricated my dog’s vet’s records.

I filed a claim which was denied by your company due to fabricated claim that it was a pre-existing condition. Theo started having symptoms of allergies 2 wks ago when we took him and was given an allergy shot. When I called your office, the rep read to me the notes “from the vet” stating that Theo had allergy symptoms back in January (which conveniently was prior to the start or his insurance coverage). I called the vet and as I expected, they did not have any documentation of any allergies on the visit in 01/24 or any at all until 07/02/24 when he was seen for that problem. I confirmed that when I requested Theo’s entire medical records. Fabricating a provider’s notes is not acceptable nor legal by any standards. When i called your office, I was told that the only way I could resolve this is by filing an appeal. Great! Taking time out of my already busy day to file a claim on something that should have been processed correctly to begin with. And I thought this was a reputable company. (Although, there really is NO reputable insurance company for that matter). I am a medical provider and I know this first hand through over 30 years of filing medical insurance claims and dealing with insurance companies. I was naive to think that pet insurance would actually do the RIGHT thing since they deal with animals who give us humans so much joy. Have a great day! I rated it one star because there was no option for a worse rating.

I spoke with Ashley to get my new puppy added to my current dog’s policy. She was professional, kind, listened to what I was needing and knowledgeable of the policy guidelines and the extras that I was interested in purchasing on the policy. I love AKC pet insurance and their customer service!

Amazing Customer Service

The representative I spoke with (Chaselyn) was knowledgeable, pleasant, professional, and very helpful. She let me get through all my questions and provided clear and concise answers. She helped guide me through selecting the best options for our pet and gave me the information I needed to know what would not suit our needs. She also made sure to repeat critical details, FAQs, and some common things she has experienced with customers to ensure I was fully informed. I was a bit overwhelmed researching different pet insurance options on my own but when I spoke to the rep at AKC, I was confident they were the right choice.
