We were sold a luxury bus trip that was actually the equivalent of a donkey cart. My family and I decided to take the bolt bus from NYC to washington dc on November 1. The bus was supposed to leave at 10:30 am. Joke. When the bus finally arrived, an hour plus later, they loaded from the back of the line to the front, so those of us who got there 45 minutes early were last on the bus, scrambling for seats. Within 15 minutes, I noticed we were pulling into a rest stop. The driver announced that the bus was billowing smoke from the back. Fire? We had to stop and they were sending another bus. 45 minute wait this time. The new..and I use that term loosely, bus was filthy, black mold, missing ceiling panels with exposed wires and the panels that were there, were only partially screwed in, and missing screws altogether, causing them to bang and flap and clang alarmingly over our heads. Our seats hadn't been properly bolted to the floor, so we see-sawed back and forth every time we hit a bump, or the driver hit the brakes, banging our knees into the seat in front of us. This was also partially caused by the position/angle of the seat. It was angled towards the floor, so in addition to everything else, we kept sliding down the seat. Our seat had no plug for our electronics so the entire ride was pretty much a living hell. NEVER AGAIN. Run!! Don't use this company.
The worst bus services ever . Plz don’t use this bus. They are late and only thing they can offer you is apologize. I waited for 2 hours and Called there customer care they even don’t know where the bus is. It’s something crazy and scary if you are stuck in middle of night and waiting for this bus. Plz don’t book this bus ever.
WORST experience I have ever had with any form of transportation. Last bolt bus I took was also 90 minutes late. This time: I have taken bolt bus many times from same location- printed my ticket with the same location listed every single time. I show up, bus tracker says it has left 45 minutes early. Call customer service and they said they are not able to track the bus and do not know where I should go. Bus ended up going to a different location with NO notification to customers or on their website. Spoke with 4 customer service representatives who told me that they could not help me and weren’t even able to track my bus. I was stranded and 6 months pregnant with all of my bags. Ended up having to take an expensive train and customer service obviously did not care.
I just got home from a Bolt Bus NYC to D.C. round trip journey today, 07/01/2018, and went directly to my laptop to expose just how badly that company has declined since I first started using it to travel up and down the North-east corridor seven or eight years ago. I remember Bolt Bus carriers as being invariably clean and comfortable with reliable WI-FI connections and charging stations at every seat. This time round and it both directions, the buses were not only dirty, but old and run down. The polyester material on the seats were natty and worn, and several arm-rests had broken off polyurethane casings that should have covered them. The return journey started off in a bus that had minimal A/C on a 90-degree day and a bathroom door that didn't stay closed nor would lock when in use. That bus had mechanical issues requiring us to transfer to another within 20-minutes of leaving Union Station. But the second carrier was no better, it too, being run-down with a bathroom door that wouldn't lock and was held closed only with duct-tape. It, too, had WI-FI that continuously went down (and NO, this had nothing to do with my device!) and A/C that barely worked. I want to point out the staff on this trip were professional and polite, but everything about this experience indicated systematic under-investment and even dis-investment by the whoever is running this company now, and obviously into the ground. I once recommended Bolt Bus to everyone I know who traveled the North-east corridor as an affordable and comfortable carrier with great amenities. In future I'll tell them to avoid this company at all costs.
They are not 24 hours, they charge you 5$ to get in contact with them. The contact is only through email. I purchased a ticket from them, there telling me it's non refundable. When they gave me a ticket that was false and not in my name, I had my daughter sit outside in the cold overnight, trying to keep her warm because they gave me the wrong ticket. I am very displeased, I have emails asking to call me personally, and they have not responded to any of my emails or concerns. No one should be left in the cold I'm currently in the hospital with my 3 year old daughter because I was not able to have a place for her to stay while in another state. Why do this to my daughter, she is 3 years old and thankfully after 3 days I get an email back from them, but still have gotten no answer to my question. I was lucky to get a ride back to the state I was headed to by a stranger the next morning. The customer service is terrible, they have not helped anyone and now my daughter has to suffer, the best they said they can do is charge me 5$ to take another trip, and tell me it's non refundable.
Bus left DC ontime. Bus stops in Baltimore and more passengers are loaded. Once everyone has seat, driver says, bus not continuing on and another bus is coming. Call to customer service. Driver cannot drive any more hours and another bus is on way, should arrive in 5-10 minutes. Well, that was 90 minutes ago. Call customer service, no more information available because their shift has ended as well. How does a transportation company not have people available to supply information while their vehicles are still out on the road. Why was this bus even loaded?
Bolt offers cheap travel, but their customer service is absolutely invisible. I Ieft a charger for my Macbook Pro on a bus from Boston to NYC 18 November, Despite contacting the customer service twice since then, in the month since the trip I have had no reply to my queries.
