Everyone beware of this company, and all their shell companies to take advantage of people intending to pay off debts. Currently the feds have a complaint against them for illegally collected fees before ever starting payment to debts. Look up this to see the complaint filed in the USDC from 6 states attorney generals. Case 1:24-CV-00040-EAW-MJR in the USDC for Western District of New York filed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, etal. Urge your state attorney generals to join your state in this complaint. They ruined my credit and took so many illegal fees that should all be returned!!

Canyon Legal is a nightmare
We signed up, with the understanding that we would pay 52 months. I realize that was a "good faith" estimate, but we are now approaching month 62. And, I can't get anyone from Canyon Legal to return a phone call or email. According to their records, we have only one debt left to settle, and there is money (thousands) in the account that we have been paying into, and used by them to settle debts. But, according to the contract, until the last debt is settled, they can continue monthly drafts. Forever. I've hired a lawyer to start legal proceedings for breach of contract, just to get away from Canyon Legal, but who knows who long that will take. I'm hoping that the lawsuit succeeds, and if so, that the damages that portion will help us get our life back. As of today, the automatic response email from Canyon Legal says "allow 72 hours business for a response". Since their office hours are 24 hours per day, but only two days a week, that's only 48 business hours per week. Canyon Legal is a nightmare.

I would never do business with them…
I would never do business with them again. We've paid them thousands of dollars over the last five years and less than 50% of our debt is settled, many debts have been resold and we are now being pursued by the new debt owners.

Canyon Legal Group is one of many shell companies under Strategic Financial Solutions 'SFS', Feds have recently froze all assets of the fraudulent company and is being sued in multiple cities and states, including New York and Chicago. Research the class action Julia Briggs vs. SFS. This company and its long list of shell affiliates need to be stopped once and for all.

I used Canyon Legal Group to help me out of debt during the pandemic and also while I was going through a divorce. I started paying more attention to my monthly statements when they tried to charge me again for an account that was already paid for. They corrected it.But, my biggest problem came last year when I was coming close to finishing the program. I asked for a pay off. They gave it to me and I assumed I was done.Come June(the last payment) I noticed no money was withdrawn from my account. I called customer service and no one could give me an explanation. Granted, I already had about $1200 invested in my last payment. After several conversations I was told someone was going to give me a call. Never happened. Then, Canyon suspended my account because they said I was late on my payment. No one called me or emailed me to notify me prior. They just suspended my account. After going round and round with a few customer service agent I decided to get back into the program to finish paying my last account. When I was finally allowed back into my account. The last account to be paid had a ZERO balance. Called Customer service again and they claim there was never any money in that account.The final straw was after about two months of paying them more money they took out a little over $500 for admin fees. Called customer service again and they claimed they always do that. Not true! They take out admin fees every month.So, Not only am I out of $1200 but also an admin fee that is ridiculous.Beyond upset!

WARNING!!! Do not use this group. They will take your money, not live up to there end of there own contract, and then refuse to refund your money that is due back to you. I had them hell me settle some accounts, but they did not deal with a couple accounts, but they charged the service fee for those accounts, and are not giving my money back when they failed to manage those accounts. Find another company to help you. These guys will will not be working in your best interest. Look elsewhere.

Terminated my account because I didn't…
Terminated my account because I didn't send 400 after an email I didn't see expired. Oh ya I had already sent them more than 50,000 in 2 huge drafts so was working all the time to pay. Had a settlement on one of my accts and they didn't send the check. So they terminated my acct and kept my money for several months without even telling me they terminated ...all the whole I thought the acct was paid. Finally got my money back now the creditor wants twice as much. Thanks for the stress and headache. Now I'm on my own

They are thieves
Horrible...they rob you and when I say rob you, they literally charge you unlimited amount in fees even though they promise you there won't be any further fees. Even after you graduate from their program and any leftover amount is supposed to go back to your bank account, they will charge you a huge portion of the leftover amount in fees and only refund you 20%. This is what happened with me.

Canyon Legal - Den of Thieves!
The Canyon Legal Group is a bunch of lying thieves! They charge you 19% of the total debt they are supposed to be advocating for you. You Pay Them Up Front!!! Before they even beging working on your debt. So, $100k of debt. You pay them for 20 months before they even make the first phone call. In the meantime, interest is accruing on your debt, and your credit completely tanks. Now for the fun stuff. Almost no communication over the 4 year contract. They do nothing to prevent the harassing phone calls or letters. They literally do nothing! Let's talk about the additional fees they bury in the contract. 48 moths = nearly $7000 more dollars in fees. So, for $100k in debt...you pay them $26000 to do absolutely nothing. NOTHING! I received all of the debt settlement letters and had to send them a copy. The creditors already aggred to settle. All they did was charge me addition fees to pay them out of what little money was actually left in my escrow. So, to recap. I paid them in advance. Them I paid hidden fees. Then I paid them to pay my already setteled debt. Now, more goid stuff. Your contract is only an estimate. Because they are an incompetent group of thieves, your program has to be extended. Their hidden fees will make you about $10k short and tgey couldn't even arrange the settlements within the allotted 48 months. I can pick up a phone and make it happen today. Oh but wait, i gave them $26000 to do that so I don't have any money in my escrow. There is a sucker born every minute and I learned a very valuable and expensive lesson. Canyon Legal is a den of thieves. I hope they rot in hell! Save your money. Get a real lawyer, or work with your creditor to settle. Also, don't let your wife put anything in your name....EVER!

This company will bilk you dry and not do what they say. Don’t trust a word they say. I finished the program last October of 22 and we are sti waiting to have creditors paid. We went to court without any help from canyon legal. It’s been a nightmare.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. The worst CS I have ever experienced in my entire life. You would be better off calling the creditors yourself and working the debit out yourself, they will be willing to work with you (I wasnt aware of this option). Canyon is a sales company preying on people. Once they get you, they completely forget about you. I was in the program for 3 years, and never got one phone call from anyone! I always had to call them. Finally in April of last year, I got the call that they had my last two accounts settled, I accepted and they lady told me I would be on auto-extend to accommodate the payments. I accepted. Fast fwd to December and I haven't heard from anyone, so I called to follow-up and they told the cancelled me back in Nov because no money was being drafted anymore. I asked why I wasn’t informed and they had no answer. Come to find out that the two accounts that were supposed to be settled, never were because they dropped the ball on getting the settlement letter. Now they closed my account and refuse to reopen the account because I have litigated debts (which they caused and didn’t follow through on settling) and basically told me I have to deal with the law firms myself. I tried to escalate multiple times but they do not want to deal with me or their blatant mistake. They have constantly dropped the ball and have caused me a lot of grief. Now, I have to try to deal with these law firms myself. Should have never joined this program and should have dealt with this myself from the beginning. Dont let them do this to you!! Customer Beware!

CHEATERS AND THIEVES
Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I was a client for three years, with about one more year to go before being debt free. When I was laid off in August, I rescheduled my September and October payments, and sent a reduced November payment with plans to resume full payments in December as I found a new job. With absolutely no warning, Canyon Legal Group refunded what was left in my escrow account and cancelled my program. They left me high and dry, with no notice and active payment plans to creditors. At no point did customer service warn me if you miss X amount of payments your account gets canceled. I feel completely shafted. WORST. HORRIBLE. CHEATERS. I would have found a way to make a payment in November if they reminded me of that portion of the contract. I had finished paying off the entire service fee Canyon Legal charges you and all their legal fees, but was left high and dry to start over with another company that will charge me thousands of dollars in new services fees and new legal fees - all because Canyon Legal Group didn't care enough to let me know - they were paid their money and instead of empathizing with a customer, they walked away. I am so disappointed, upset, and angry because their customer service is unquestionably the worst I've ever experienced in my life.

Horrible company!!!
They tell you to add more funds when you can so I added $13,000 but I still have to make all of my payments anyway. My enrolled debt was $66,628, my accepted offers totaled $38,067, my final payments will total $58,544. So they are pocketing over $20,000 and I only saved $8,000 when all is said and done. The last attorney that was trying to get ahold of me for my annual review had a spam number so I emailed them and never heard anything back. Sorry I don't answer SPAM numbers. Customer service basically told me if I didn't like what they was doing then I could pay the creditors myself. No help what so ever and now they don't want to talk to me. Don't use this company!!!!!

A lot of false hopes and promises
A lot of false hopes and promises. Simply all talk on the phone, but no action in court can't even make complete eye contact and they didn't even cross-examine witnesses even though they said they were. They will even ask you to do things that don't benefit you, and they mishandle things a lot. It's almost like they're new at their job. The members of their groups even miss court appointments. When they do finally call you back, they are negative. Too many pessimists people in their organization. Once they get you in a contract, they really change. I will not recommend them. Bad defense attorney. It is like they're on the prosecutor's side.

Do very little to help...don't trust the estimated completion
My experience with this group is they settle with the smaller debt and let the larger debt go to litigation where you end up paying the full amount plus penalties and fees anyway. I've done everything I'm supposed to and not even close to finishing after the 4 year program they proposed. Now they propose a loan to finish off the rest for an additional few years.The last summons I received for the largest debt in the program, I sent them the summons the day I received and they lost it for 2 weeks so now I have to defend myself and try to file a motion for an extension.

I’ve been in the program for over two years. It started out bad, it got better and now I’m completely frustrated with the program. After making consistent payments for over two years only 2% of our debt is settled. They continuously ask us to add extra funds to the program which was a question I asked before signing and was told only happens if we want to accelerate the program. Now I’m being told they won’t even represent us on any of the upcoming litigations because they have no funds available. They take their cut upfront and then leave you with no money to negotiate with….. biggest mistake trusting this company. I was talking to a supervisor named Marshon… tried calling him back and was told he wasn’t taking my calls. Then the next supervisor Chris tells me nothing was guaranteed and they now need to recalculate the funds we need to pay to the program because the original was only an estimate. Never during sign did they mention that but pushed how the relationship their lawyers had with the creditors that they were willing to take a loss if they couldn’t negotiate the debt within the stated amount.

0 would be more appropriate. It started well, I make payments every month they got 2 accounts to start to settle ($4K) until I got a litigation from one of the companies. At first, we made plans, they asked for additional funds to be able to make the settlement, fine i sent in $6790 in additional payment and was scheduled to give another $5000 in 3 months and an additional $1,000 3 months after that, perfect. They didn't make the first payment, even though i set the recording, i signed the paper work and so did the company suing me. I called every week the next month to a bunch of "or we'll look into it" "don't worry" until i get a new settlement from them. The settlement is EXACTLY the same, same amount, everything but they dare to ask me for an additional $3200 by 1st payment. I explained that i made $6790 in additional payment and i can go ahead and make that $5000 like i was originally supposed to. They told me that they used the additional funds to other accounts i had open and i don't have enough money. I was like what? i have almost $900 monthly payments, been paying for 22 months plus an additional $6790 payment and i don't have enough money to start a $3300 settlement? ABSOLUTE JOKE- THEY ARE SCAMMERS- DON'T USE THEM! THEY PLAY WITH PEOPLE'S MONEY, DON'T OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES.

If I could give this Company a 0 I would. PLEASE don’t use them. They have taken over $16,000 of my money and provided me with ZERO help. I had a litigation filed against me and was promised when I signed up a Lawyer would be provided for me if this if this happened. Lawyer was not provided, I had to file a response on my on and then a Jusgement was made against me. This COMPANY is a flipping JOKE. They need to be SHUT DOWN. They can’t even explain what the almost $600 Service Charge Monthly goes to. DONT USE THEM. They never return calls either
