Do not rent from CubeSmart! In one year my 10x10 storage went from $140 to $190, plus now, they've added a $5.58 convenience fee. To add insult to injury, the storage is rat infested!

Do not rent from CubeSmart,
These guys have a broken website and app that cause a lot of headaches. They have *major* penalties for any sort of odd infraction. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong; the penalties will never be refunded. This company routinely raises rents by 25% or more within 90 days of signing up with them. This partially pays for discounts they issue to new suckers whom they vacuum up and suck dry.
I have been storing in the same until since 2006. The original price was $150.00 per month. Over time the price has gone up and was staing right around current rental pricing. Then four or five year ago it jumped from the current rate of approximately $300 a month to nearly $600 a month, then 12 months later it jumped to $735 per month. Now they want to raise the cost to $845 per month when the normal rental price is $345 to $450. I asked why, they said improvements, and that they could not lower my price because I was grandfathered. So I guess the fact that you closed both restrooms in the unit and are using them as rented storage is an improvement for the managers wallet. I am not sure. I asked again about the price being lowered and was told "well you can move allof your stuff to another open unit in our space and we can give you the current rate of $355 per month. So my recommendation is never rent from Cubesmart on Pulaski Highway, near Golden Ring in Baltimore. They do not keep the place up and do not care about the customer. All they are doing is raising the price higher and higher so they can get more money from you. Take your business to their competitors. Clean locations with working restrooms, and oh yeah, my new rate will be $215 a month for the same size unit I have at Cubesmart, and they rate will never be raised higher than the current rental price for a unit.
I rented a unit at CubeSmart expecting a long-term arrangement. Three months after move-in, my monthly rate was increased by 33%.Yes, their agreement allows increases and labels the starting price as “introductory.” But in practice, this felt like a teaser rate designed to get customers in the door, then hit them with a major increase almost immediately.I moved out on principle and transferred everything to another storage company. Even after paying movers, the total economics were better than staying with CubeSmart at the new rate.I have friends in the area actively looking for storage, and I will be telling them to avoid CubeSmart based on this experience. If you only need very short-term storage, maybe this model works for you. If you want pricing stability and a company that values long-term customers, look elsewhere.
I starting renting a covered parking spot for my Class C Mobilehome at CubeSMart on 980 FM 664 in Ferris, Tx back in October 2025. Got a letter in December that my rate would increase, starting in January2026. By this time the front desk employee had change to the third new person by the name of Charles. I spoke to this employee who was at time rude and incoherent to what was discussed. However, we got it worked out and I made my increase payment. I normally check on my RV often but due to the bad weather in Texas I was not able to get to the storage to check. So I went on 2/10/26 to check on my RV. Guess what my RV has been stolen. How does someone still a Class C RV Mobilhome from a Gated Storage unit with an attendant "Charles" on it. I have made a report and I feel this is an inside job. Ferris DPS is investigating and I can't wait to get the outcome. I am also contacting an attorney to file charges against this storage company. Something is very fish about this company and the people they are hiring. Don't use any of Curbsmart storages. There are others out their that makes your stuff secure. Shawn
This Cube Smart has been on a steady decline since Cube Smart acquired the facility. The staff is incompetent and smokes weed during work hours. The units have frequent water damage that goes unaddressed. The management is obsessed with money and overcharging but not keeping the facility clean. I have trash that has been sitting outside of my unit (left by the cleaning staff) for over 9 months. This was reportedto the manager 9 months ago. Horrible. AND I pay $3600 for a commercial space. They could care less.
I just got off the phone to report a fraudulent use of my information, which was taken when my unit was robbed. Three cards were taken out thus far. Here is a scenario for the crime junkies out there; 1. a storage company has in-house insurance that only covers a robbery of a unit if there is a sign of forced entry. 2. They also only permit the use of locks sold in their office. 3. Entry does not appear forced to the robbed units. 4. Supposedly it is secure, but after a robbery, no way is provided to access a recording of the incident; nor does anyone seem to be able to look up who might have accessed that particular floor; when supposedly the access codes only open an particular floor. 5. Items that are left in robbed spaces are blatantly damaged, but again, no forced entry. 6. The unit was clearly professionally robbed because of the waya they slashed open the boxes AND left behind a bit of their own trash for a real kindness in an otherwise very organized unit. 7. The inhouse insurance askes for a valuation that the employees all can see. 8. They also use your card and therefore have access to your card number. 9. They have address and email and phone and ID... And again, for those not tracking it YET; the locks are theirs; the insurance is theirs; the security system is theirs; they know their way around all of the above; and the entry must not appear forced for a dime to be covered. Now they are not only responsible for the loss of my belongings and the supplies I had gathered with funding I had received to start a business, but they also now carry responsibility for my identity being stolen and for damage to my credit report. Branden told the cop who looked at my unit that he had theories about how "they" were getting in... From the reviews, I do not think anything is being done by anyone who works there - or by the cops for that matter - to actually stop "them".
I rented a 10x30 unit. I am selling my home and buying a new one. Everything I wanted to take was moved to the unit. They gave a price of $208 a month. After having everything moved in and waiting for my new home to be available they raised the monthly rate to $278 a month. They know you have no alternative now. This is very predatory. These people have no values. No morals at all. Please do yourself a favor and never use them. I rented the unit on November 18th 2025. On January 16th I receive am email it is now $278.
You can improve by keeping the rates more steady, increasing the rate by almost $15 dollars ever six month is not good. The turnover of customers is unbelievable. Yeah getting them in at a good price then raising the rate every six month doesn't make sense to me
⭐ 1 Star – Predatory Rate Increases, Zero Added ValueCubeSmart’s business model appears to be nothing more than systematic price gouging. They raise rates every six months by more than 25%, with no explanation, no added services, and no increase in benefits whatsoever. The unit stays the same. The access stays the same. The service stays the same. Only the price skyrockets. There is no justification for these increases other than exploiting customers who have already moved their belongings in and are inconveniently “locked in.” This is not inflation. This is not market adjustment. This is a deliberate, recurring cash grab. What makes it worse is the complete lack of transparency or accountability. No improvements, no upgrades, no communication—just a notice saying “pay more or leave.” That is not customer service; it’s coercion. If you value fair pricing, honesty, or basic respect as a customer, look elsewhere. CubeSmart treats long-term customers as targets, not partners. I will not be renewing and strongly advise others to think twice before doing business with a company that rewards loyalty with repeated, unjustified rate hikes.
Raised the amount again, ridiculous policy for late psyments ( not only a charge but they out another lock on and it’s a pain to get it removed). I will be moving out soon.
I am submitting this complaint regarding CubeSmart’s handling of my long-term storage account at the 82 Fair Street location. I was a customer from 2004 through 2025.Following CubeSmart’s acquisition of the facility in 2017, my rent was raised incrementally from $436 to $915.76 for the same unit, without meaningful notice or justification. During this same period, CubeSmart significantly reduced services and maintenance, including diminished climate control, closure of restrooms, removal of on-site staff, infrequent cleaning, and prolonged security gate failures. In November 2025, CubeSmart claimed my automatic payment card was denied. My bank confirmed no charge attempt was made. CubeSmart refused to reattempt payment, required in-person payment, imposed penalties, charged a $36 administrative fee, and threatened lockout and auction. The issue was an expired card, which they refused to update. Notices were allegedly sent to outdated contact information that CubeSmart also refused to correct. After more than 20 years of uninterrupted tenancy, I was treated with indifference and hostility. These practices appear designed to generate additional fees and revenue rather than resolve issues fairly. I believe CubeSmart engages in systematic price gouging and punitive billing practices that disadvantage long-term customers.
The facility is clean, people are relatively helpful. I've had a unit there for a few years. The rate increases are annoying but they are spelled out in the contract terms. The biggest annoyance is the security I don't know how they could make it better but my unit has been broken into a few times and things stolen. So the biggest advice I can give is do not store valuable electronics in it. But CubeSmart themselves do what they say they will, and are pretty professional and friendly.
Started renting the smallest space they offer in late August. $92 a month. They jacked it up to $120 in January. What a joke. Should have been same price for a year, that’s what they implied when we signed. Then immediately jacked up the price. Stay away from this facility. Hand carts are missing or broken, trash everywhere outside the main entrance. Very poorly run and intentionally misleading advertising and office personnel. I’d never have signed up if I knew my rate would explode 30% in a few months. Is the rate going to go up another 30% in another month??? Beware of this place and company.
Terrible communication, rude staff, gate never works, and insane price increases every 6 months (we're talking 44% at 6 months, which annualizes to 88%). This is totally out of touch with the marketplace, the neighborhood, and the industry. The local office plays it off as though their hands are tied, and pass you off to corporate, and corporate doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction, let alone retention. Very unfortunate way to treat renters who pay on time, intend to store long term, but are subjected to rude staff, unmaintained premises, and unfathomable rate increases.
got my storage unit today in salem mass. and bill the g. m. was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. he answered all questions and showed me my unit and explained all that i needed to know. he had a great attitude and was patient and accomodating. it made the whole experience a positive one. it's nice to deal with people like this for a change. would definitley recommend this location if you need storage space, bill was very professional and customer friendly!
My overall experience was decent. The facility was clean and secure, and the move-out process was straightforward. The main frustration was the short-notice rate increase and lack of flexibility after being told support would be available. Clearer communication would have made a big difference.
This is an unsafe terrible place! Do not trust them! My son got a unit at cube self storage on West Hillsboro blvd in Coconut Creek about 4 months ago. The staff is terrible!!! They are useless idiots. Since he got the unit, which is in a shaded spot, the light did not work and was hanging by UNSAFE wires. My son reported it to the the useless staff at the opening of the unit. She said she would take care of it and be in touch with him. She did nothing! Then I went in there and spoke to them! They were both there. They said they would call us to meet the person to fix it asap! Its been a few months and nothing was done and no call to repair has been made. THIS UNIT IS NOT EVEN USEABLE. THIS IS A NEGLAGENT FACILITY!!! STAFF IS BEYOND USLESS! The staff are terrible! They have the worst customer service! They just do NOT care at all! Cube Smart Self Storage located at 4801 Hillsboro Blvd your service is terrible and unsafe! This company cant even change a light bulb! They are useless! Do NOT trust anything that you consider the slightest bit valuable with them! They will let you down...guaranteed!!
I've been a CubeSmart tenant since they opened in Bethpage years ago I was one of the first to join I've since moved to a few different units downsizing as I go.. I've just completed another downsize October 2025 and the young lady in the office Nataly was so very helpful and knowledgeable and she completed the transaction perfectly.. I approached her she was busy with something else but she stopped what she was doing and spent 15 minutes showing me the new unit and completing the paperwork.. she's an excellent associate.. thank you Joe
have rented here for many years and everything was fine till recently. I showed up at 6PM on a Saturday during the middle of my move with a rented U-Haul, to find out they had closed down the whole place and locked it up for the weekend WITHOUT NOTICE. The little note that was left on the gate was all that was done. No calls to give us advance notice, no simple email, nothing. So here I sit with a rented truck that went to waste because not only were they not open at 6PM on a Saturday but also closed ALL of Sunday as well. For me to show up on Monday and there be a lock on my storage because I was a week late on my payment. I went in to the office to discuss this matter and of course she couldn't do a single thing for me. Yet if they would of given NOTICE to the breech in contract they were going to do I could of scheduled my move out accordingly. I have called corporate, I have called the district manager, I have sent email after email. And sadly, no response what so ever!!!!!! When I first came to this storage, they had cameras up and truly cared for their customers. They also used to have affordable rates. Since then my rate has tripled, cameras have been taken down and simply no respect at all for the customers. Not to include the insurance they make you pay for every month is worthless and just a gimmick. Their "insurance" company is owned by a sister company of cubesmart and unless a nuclear bomb goes off or zombie apocalypse happens will they cover anything. So go elsewhere when renting a storage. This place sucks!!
