Poor Value for Money & Lack of Transparency
I’m extremely disappointed with the service provided by Lowther Homes. The common charge account fees feel excessive, and it’s very unclear what real value is being delivered in return. We are billed regularly, yet there is little visible evidence of proactive maintenance or meaningful property management.Communication is poor, and getting clear explanations or detailed breakdowns of costs is unnecessarily difficult. Charges often feel unjustified, and there is little transparency around how decisions are made or how contractors are selected. For the amount residents are expected to pay, the level of service simply does not reflect the cost. I would strongly encourage Lowther Homes to improve transparency, responsiveness, and overall accountability to the homeowners who are funding these services. At present, this does not represent good value for money.

Absolutely Useless
Lowther (Wheatley), covering owners and tenants, are absolutely useless. Refusal to deal with problematic tenants causing issues through sheer badness e.g. stuffing bin chutes, slamming windows, breaking security doors due to mental instability, leaving back close doors unlocked allowing predators an ingress in darkness, where there should be social services monitoring the situations. The unstable tenants even leave food at the side of the building to feed vermin, which is an unsanitary practice. Lowther have washed their hands of situations. Hopefully a stranger will not attack me or anyone else coming home one night. I am scared for my safety and they don’t care.

They are unable to carry put a simple gutters cleaning in 4 weeks
7After chasing Lowther for 4 weeks to come and clean the communal gutters that clogged as they are cause water ingress in to my property, as at today, they still haven't done the necessary cleaning. Today the day was dry and not windy, ideal to do hhe work, but despite promising that the work would have been attended today, they did not come blaming miscommunication with City Buildings, the company to whom they outsourced the job. I would hope that Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council do create better protection to this factor's customers.

Poor service to customers
Poor service to customers, my grandson's flat was flooded after leaking radiator took ages to repair, they treat customers like they don't care and in the East of Scotland especially staff at all levels are remote and disinterested in helping

Lowtherhomes services are awful
I regard Lowtherhomes as a terrible accommodation provider. My cooker stopped working while I was making food for my family yesterday. When I called them to explain the situation, I was shocked by their total lack of empathy. They told me, they would come to repair it in a week's time. My plea that my children are young (aged 3 and 8) and feed on strict and specialized diets fell on their deaf ears. I am left unhappy and financially burdened by the only option of eating out for a week. How could they expect my family to cope with this dire situation for a whole week? Their plan to come for the repair after a week was casually made with no tone of hope or the slightest measure of human feeling and prioritization of customer welfare. Their actions left me perplexed and emotionally broken. They turned down my advice of getting a private company to fix it and deduct the cost of repair from my rent with a wave of the hand. I do not know what to do anymore and their disregard of a loyal customer of about 30 months is totally unacceptable.

AWFUL SERVICE AS USUAL
Once again, they sent an invoice without sending any quotes or asking if it was ok to go ahead with the work! They are an absolute disgrace! 1. The back door they made the works without informing us of the costs (over 2000GBP) you could buy a new one. They removed the floor a couple of years ago by near the above door, it was never required or requested, they invoiced us and never replaced the floor. Now 4Oct25 gutter works without once again sending is anything.. Guess what, I will not pay! G15LF

Factor my property and failed to fix my roof or acknowledge that its still leaking after incorrect works were done.Lowther homes are owned by Wheatley group who also owns City building who lowther use to do works on properties they factor. Its a racket where they do incorrect/poor work and then when you complain they say nothing is wrong. Funny how wheatley group rule in favour of wheatley group and there is absolutely no recourse other than to take them to tribunal which costs more money.

A disgrace …
I’ve been renting from this organisation for the past five years and have felt mistreated and dismissed. They never finished the properties properly, and the building itself should never have been passed for living purposes! We have rats and other filthy birds that can fly on top of the bins because they don’t have lids or roofs. This was because they never finished the bin area, which was only completed during the COVID pandemic. However, they have a cheek to increase rent but don’t fix the problems! It’s a shameful company that calls itself MID MARKET RENT!

Deeply disappointed and disgusted
Absolutely disgusted by this mob. Still getting threatening letters from them regarding my dad’s property 18 months after he sadly passed sway in Dec2023. The house was sold in October 2024 and all monies owed to them were settled through the lawyer. The last letter I got was put through my door by the new tenants saying my dad owed over 800 pounds and if he didn’t pay he would be taken to court. This is extremely upsetting and distressing to myself and my sister. We informed them straight away of my dad’s sudden passing and yet they are still chasing us for money when the final bill was settled. This company is not fit for purpose and should be removed and replaced by a more reputable company

The absolute worst housing company in…
The absolute worst housing company in Scotland. No hot water constantly. 10 times this year alone and it’s April! We got a new heating company called minibems to replace our communal heating system. Our hot water was meant to be off between 9-5 for a single day and it’s been off for two days. Lowther couldn’t care less and have asked for £45 extra in rent a month. Our flat also wasn’t wind and watertight for 4 years breaching our contract. Our oven exploded and they took 4 months to replace it and only did after we threatened to withhold our rent resulting in them bringing a new oven the NEXT day. Magic! They constantly schedule useless repairs/visits for things that do not need done like replacing fire alarms and housing visits from a housing officer who wants you to grass on your neighbours about things no one bothers about! The whole company is an absolute shambles and take full advantage of paying renters while letting folk on benefits run rampant and cause chaos. We had young men dangling out their windows threatening women walking by with disgusting acts and constant drug dealers screaming and shouting at all hours of the night. This is what mid market rent gets you these days. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Do not buy anything that uses this company
Lowther are the worst factors I've ever used. The reviews do not lie. They take huge amounts of money and literally do nothing in return. Repairs are never carried out and you will waste months before realising this. They are corrupt, fraudulent parasites. Do not buy any house that is factored by them.

Terrible experience with Lowther Homes
Terrible experience with Lowther Homes. We’ve been waiting since February for them to fix a dangerous, storm-damaged fence. It’s full of snapped wood and exposed nails, and we have four young children between our households at risk of injury. I’ve made countless calls, been given false promises of a housing officer visit, but months later, nothing has been done. It’s not just an inconvenience — it’s a serious safety hazard. I also can’t let my dog into the garden because the broken fence leaves it open to neighbouring properties. Lowther Homes is quick to advertise new homes but completely fails to look after their existing tenants. Absolutely shocking service.

Lowther are incompetent
Lowther are incompetent and their systems are not fit for purpose. They are in cahoots with City Building ( know by decent tradesmen as Sh!tty Building). I’ve never known to have a factor with no named point of contact with a direct telephone contact. They quote and hide behind and misuse GDPR Regulations. The IOS would wipe the floor with them. Avoid if you can or get everyone else on your block to agree to get rid of them. They’re all still working from him. Make up quotes and don’t do site visits. Truly dystopian. AVOID!!!

Don't buy or rent a home factored by Lowther. *BE WARNED*
Please check that your factor is not LowtherHomes before buying a flat in a shared tenement. I wish l knew myself about factors as a new buyer. Don't make the same mistake. Lowther is a cowboy business and l have no idea why the government in Scotland has allow their criminality to go on for this long. Don't say you weren't warned. Stay away ...

Where do I start with this company! Again like most people 1 star is only because it doesn’t give me an option to put - 10 stars.Firstly the company carried out EWI improvements to my building which they have left gaps where water is penetrating behind the ewi and causing dampness and mould to my property internally.. send out incompetent staff that don’t know how to resolve the situation.. then demand over 10k for a job that’s worth max 2k Always demanding money never want to resolve any situations or if they do it’s just a quick fix.. something has to be done every home owner has to get together and stop this company charging what they want.Recently problem in one of there properties upstairs in the bathroom and charged each property over £400 and the problem was in there bathroom cause they had to change a pipe that went into the cast its communal 😂😂 asked them was the pipe made of gold! Absolute robbery we should all be untitled to our money back we’ve given them over the years if you ask me…

Alice in wonderland invoicing and…
Alice in wonderland invoicing and accounting system. Demanding £2025 for an owner led project in a tenement building East End, that I paid 6 months ago. I have emailed, telephoned, raised a complaint to Wheatley Group. Still receiving demanding letters, made worse by highlighting it to a phone operator at Lowther last month, no, we can see there is a mistake you have paid, the work couldn’t have gone ahead on schedule had you not paid, I’ll escalate it to a manager. The result, now I’m receiving threatening letters, pay or else. Who needs this junk in their life. Does anyone reading this have a contact email at Lowther Homes Glasgow or a suggestion where to go for help? Thank you.
