I bought a phone cover and screen protector from Mobile Experts @ Whitfords Shops. The service and advice was great. I felt listened to and respected by both staff who were most friendly and engaging. I would haplily recommend Mobile Experts, Whitfords City.
I purchased a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from Mobile Experts in December 2024 for over $1000. The phone was advertised as an IP68 water resistant device — a key feature for me as I wanted to use it for filming underwater and around the pool with my daughter.Shortly after purchase, the phone failed from brief immersion in freshwater, well within Samsung’s advertised IP68 limits (1.5m for 30 minutes). When I returned it, Mobile Experts refused a refund and claimed that “all water damage voids warranty,” relying on a small note on their receipt. This practice is misleading. Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), statutory guarantees cannot be excluded by fine print. If a phone is sold as water resistant, refurbished or otherwise, it must perform to that standard unless clearly disclosed at sale.I took the matter to NCAT (Case 2025/00154224). On 29 September 2025, NCAT ruled in my favour, finding that:A refurbished Samsung S23 Ultra should retain its IP68 rating unless disclosure is made.A disclaimer excluding water damage does not override consumer guarantees under the ACL.The phone was not of acceptable quality, and the failure was a major failure under the law.NCAT ordered Mobile Experts to refund me in full ($1008.85) on return of the phone and accessory. This business practice — selling phones as refurbished but quietly stripping away key features like water resistance — is unacceptable. Consumers deserve transparency and their legal rights respected. If you are considering purchasing from Mobile Experts, be aware:Their receipts state that “devices that have been repaired can no longer be considered water resistant.”This is not consistent with Australian Consumer Law.You may have to fight through the Tribunal to get what the law already entitles you to.I recommend extreme caution when dealing with this business.
Underhanded low lives that refuse to abide by their obligations. Do not buy or they will rip you off.
Helpful staff
Stupidly visited Mobile Experts in Castle Hill to get a quick fix on my damaged iPhone 14 screen which was dropped when over seas. Following the aftermarket replacement, screen was very glitchy and battery life non existent. Due to the 6 month warranty, phone was taken back in for another screen replacement which resulted in the technician sheering the screw in bottom enclosure and scratching the life out of the housing whilst trying to remove it with a pair of tweezers. After a long argument with the technician, who may I add didn’t seem to get or even care what I was complaining about, the phone was again returned to have a full housing replacement which now rendered my remaining 18 months Apple warranty null and void. Following the housing replacement, which I was promised by the manager that no further issues would occur, the screen again had lots of glitches as well as the same battery life problems as previously experienced. The phone was yet again returned and another screen fitted with the same issues as the last. Finally I gave up dealing with Mobile Experts incompetent staff and done what I should have done in the first place, went back to Apple. Shortly after my OEM screen replacement from Apple, the phone started to experience major hardware failure, which had all of the internals and battery not been removed, I would have got a like for like replacement handset under my Australian Consumer warranty. When I returned back to Mobile Experts expressing my disappointment that my phone was now on the brink of a major failure, most likely caused by their shoddy repair, they palmed me off and said there was nothing they could do as the phone had previously been repaired by a third party! Really… Moral of the story is, please don’t waste any time or money with these numpties, you’ll most likely end up very disappointed! Luckily for Mobile Experts, I don’t have the option to give “0” stars, otherwise I would!!
Quarter starHad the back glass of the iphone replaced to find it's not waterproof and not covered under the warranty because of a sign displayed( which I didn't see) obviously hidden, due to the significant water damage inside the phone weren't liable for replacement. Avoid this company!!
While ‘Mobile Experts’ service was friendly and fast. I am very disappointed and will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. Was told after the repair of my Apple Watch screen that I shouldn’t take it swimming. I used mine all the time in the pool and if I was told this up front I would not have spent $289 getting it repaired. Also less the 24 hours later I noticed the screen had cracked on three sides - I only wore it for 4 hours and am positive I didn’t bump it. I was told that it wasn’t covered under warranty despite it clearly a substandard product.I was told if I’d give them more devices to repair I would get a discount (presumably as recompense) - as if I would give them more business given the result I got from my apple watch.Clearly not professional and I would say not ‘Experts’.While genuine apple repairs seem expensive, they are not as expensive or frustrating as getting something fixed twice.
I decided to get my phone repaired late last year because it had a hair-line crack in the screen. It is a Samsung S10+, less than a year old at the time. Absolutely no problems at all with the phone other than the minor crack. Took it down to Mobile "Experts" at Burleigh Heads, Queensland. I specifically asked them whether they use genuine Samsung parts in the repair process which they confirmed they do with an absolute straight-face. I work in IT so I know that inferior, knock-off / third-party components are going to be cheap crap and I wanted to keep my phone running well.So $450 and half a day later I pick up my phone, that night went to bed with a fully charged phone only to find it dead flat by the morning. Awesome, with magnificent timing my main client had been irately trying to call me in relation to an IT issue and couldn't get through. Various troubleshooting and testing, took the phone back and they advised something might have happened to the battery. Had to wait over the weekend until the replacement battery arrived the next week.I enquired with Mobile "Experts" Burleigh Heads what went wrong and he went on about how difficult the newer phones are to fix and that they don't use screws. When I brought the phone in for repair the technician had at least 4-5 phones on his workbench each in various stages of disassembly. He showed me my original genuine Samsung parts and I could clearly see a deep scratch in the phone tray and on the battery. He couldn't really explain that one. Obviously he's had issues disassembling the phone and gouged into it with his tools. I again enquired whether the replacement battery was a genuine Samsung battery and again with butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouth sincerity confirmed it was and showed me the battery that was loosely packed in a Samsung branded box.So long story short, the issue of rapid phone battery discharge still persisted. My fully charged phone would be dead in a few hours. Never mind the potential danger of a malfunctioning phone and lithium battery possibly exploding in my pocket. Not trusting the "repair" of my phone to the company that damaged it in the first place, took it to authorised Samsung repairer Tecworks in Southport who for $350 (yes, $100 cheaper than bodge job el "repair" with cheapo third-party, non-genuine parts) replaced the screen/battery/and tray. The issue still persisted and I had to go back again to Tecworks and have the whole mainboard and other associated parts replaced. The issue was finally resolved after probably close to a month of stuffing around. Tecworks advised that Samsung does not provide genuine Samsung parts and components to non-authorised repairers.Just to further illustrate the kind of company Mobile Experts is, I gave a counter-offer which was conveniently ignored until the 6 month parts warranty expired. After again following up about a refund I get from Troy (apparently the Queensland State Operations Manager – right from the top) "As it has now been almost 6 months since this repair, so we are no longer able to provide a refund on the LCD." So $450 out-of-pocket, with an at-the-time unusable and potentially dangerous phone, and the stress and hassle of trying to run a business without a phone –I get absolutely nothing in return. So in recap, this scummy dirty little business lied twice about using genuine Samsung parts in their repair right to my face, physically damaged my phone to the point where the battery couldn't retain charge, denied all responsibility and then ignored my complaint for months to again, with absolute indifference and apathy to a paying customer, fob me off with an absolutely irrelevant excuse.Lesson: Don't get your phone repaired with Mobile Experts, they are complete and utter frauds and incompetent technicians - just go to an authorised repairer.
