Solid boots and shoes but poor attention to detail
A very varied experience with Tricker's. Old-fashioned customer service in the Jermyn Street shop, with no Malton boots in my size to try on and a very traditional sales assistant who ended up recommending me to go to another brand as he didn't think their boots and shoes suited my feet. I persisted and had a pair of the Malton's sent to me, but one boot was very wrinkled due to loose grain. I had to wait for three months for a replacement. It still had loose grain and wrinkled leather, but this time less severe and only on the shaft of the boot, so less noticeable. These boots took a while to break in but - apart from the loose grain - are well made and clearly very robust.I then bought a pair of Bourton shoes, in espresso. This time the problem was that the quarters had been sewn on misaligned, so that the laces are aslant and the leather uppers don't match up on either side. Like the Maltons, these are solid and will clearly give a lot of use.All three pairs had been sold as first quality and not seconds, and all had a QC certificate. So, not only badly made but also badly checked. A real shame, as I had always looked upon them as the pinnacle of ready to wear British shoe manufacturing. I was severely disappointed when faced with the reality. A final irritation occurred when I posted a review of the Bourton shoes on their website, only for it to be taken down without any notification.

I own footwear from the likes of Church’s, Crockett & Jones, J. Cheaney, Barkers, Loake etc….Today I received my first pair of Trickers (boots) Olivvia- the Deer skin & Lamb Skin combination is beautiful, so soft and immediately wearable for long walks. Boot Size is spot on…A fantastic product, credit where it’s due..

Would you (whoever you are) like to…
Would you (whoever you are) like to hear the honest and candid truth (warts and all) or for one to give a nice answer that pleases the company and its employees' wishes more than the truth? It's tempting to devalue a perfect score and give five stars (very rarely justifyable) and consequently both customer and company leave with puffed-up pride, the result of buttering each other up unnecessarily. Does that really do any good to anyone? Four stars is jolly good - room for improvement- in this case, a way of softening up the leather in or even before the production phase, to shorten the break-in period. Both of my Tricker's Goodyear welted shoes took/are taking far, far too long to break in. A year-and-a-half so far for these Heath golf shoes- the sides still dig in to just below my ankles. I still can't wear them for long walks without discomfort. The plus side of this, of course, is that the thickness of the leather ensures a long life of wear and eventually the shoes would be able to produce a pleasant and wearable experience for the wearer. Tricker's, from my understanding, make shoes that can outlast most, if not all other shoemakers. They are built like a tank, and on the outset, about as comfortable. I suppose, though, in the long and successful history of the company, Tricker's have come across and dealt with this break-in 'problem', if one can call it a problem, if not a necessary consequence of buying a quality shoe, by having a customer complaining less and less over the years as his wearing experience becomes less and less painful and more and more enjoyable. Tricker's customers expect/ are expecting /have expected their shoes to last for decades, like a marriage, for better or for worse.....till death us do part. The maintenance of the shoe is, of course, vital- i.e. shoe trees and regular conditioner, wax polish as required. In all, our shoemaking tradition is something that Britain should be proud of and is revered in all corners of the world- Tricker's being the oldest survivor of them all.

Beautiful hand made shoes
One of the few British owned shoe makers left. I had seen their advertisements over the years and finally decided to take the plunge at their store on Jermyn Street. Glad I did. Beautifully and robustly made. Heavy shoes "country shoes" but made to last.

Customer service at Tricker's
Customer service at Tricker's has a number of bad reviews here. Whilst I can't comment on other people's experiences. I can only give them a positive score. I bought my 1st pair of these beautiful shoes only last week. A pair of Burton's in muesem black. However, after 2 days of breaking in I noticed a fault in the heal. Contacting customer services with photos of the issue they offered to replace the shoes even though I'd worn them. I requested the next half size up as the advice to go a half size down on this last wasn't working out hence the breaking in. No reason for them to accept but it was not problem. I received my new shoes today, in the half size up. A very happy customer. Can't praise the customer service team enough. Fast response to all emails and free carrage too.

Ordered a pair of black brogues online and received what I can only describe as a pair of clowns shoes, black with red streaks. My complaint was dismissed and i was told that I had got what I had ordered.Given I was a repeat customer felt the service was shoddy.

Beautiful shoes but bunions beware
Their tailored shoes are beautiful, and they cost the earth. They promise luxury backed by centuries of experience. This is the quintessential English shoe cobbler/tailor, but, what they won't tell you is that if their shoes are too tight, you run the risk of getting a bunion that will require surgery and scar you for life. I had this experience with them about 20 years ago. I will never return. I am now looking for a potential second surgery due to their handy work. They should never have let me leave the shop with the shoes they made unless they were 100% certain that they had done their job properly and my foot wouldn't be damaged after one night of dancing in them.

Reviews Rigged on Website
I had terrible experiences ordering online from the London Store. Reported my experiences when submitting reviews to London Store. My review was CHANGED and falsified as positive. Look at the site! Every single one of 400+ reviews is 5 star. They are fraudulent.

Truly robust boots that will last 10…
Truly robust boots that will last 10 years, if well looked after. I've owned several pairs, my brother has a pair of the stow boots and my uncle has several pairs. We all highly recommend them and have been wearing them for years, my uncle has a pair of loafers that are six years old, and have not even been resoled. My suede boots have been heavily abused and yet are still going strong. Can't recommend enough, they are also brilliantly comfortable with great arch support. Good for tramping around cities and the country side. They are a lot more comfortable than other British brands

Mugged on Jermyn Street
I went into the Jermyn Street store on the 10th of June to buy some new shoes and get my old ones refurbished. Really enjoyed the service and ended up buying their shoe trees as well. I think the next day they reduced the price of the shoes by £200 in the sale that they had neglected to mention !Thoroughly annoyed at having been mugged. I would have expected better
Pimlico
exeeded my expectations
I had a good experience with the UK website. One item I ordered was not in stock, but they contacted me within 24hrs of ordering and gave me a full refund. I love the shoes and the cleaning kit. I found the quality higher than expected, so I was pleasantly surprised and ordered a second pair immediately after receiving the first pair.

Terrible quality control & customer service
Terrible. I recently bought my first ever pair of Trickers from a retailer after spending countless hours reading reviews, watching videos of how they’re made etc etc, I was in awe. The size I wanted was not in stock (UK 8) so they ordered a pair directly from Trickers then forwarded them on to me.I was so happy when they arrived and felt like my hard work had paid off.I opened the box like a kid on Christmas Day and admired the craftsmanship…..This is where my opinions started to take a turn. There was a few poorly finished areas, scuffs on the edge of the soles, smears of glue on the inside and the right boot seemed a fair bit baggier than the left which caused a baggy overhang. You could see the leather overhang when looking from the bottom if you hold both together. The welt joins are in a different place on each boot which my OCD cannot fathom, also poorly finished. Not only that, but the left boot dyed my sock yellow after 5 minutes trying on!!For boots that have an RRP of £565 I am gobsmacked and truly disappointed. My opinion of Trickers and their so called quality, attention to detail etc has been absolutely blown out of the water.I emailed Tricker’s directly and sent some photos of the areas I thought were not up to standard to be told, and I quote: “The finish is a little rough yes, but all other issues mentioned are within our tolerances, the welt join will not always be in the same place”. I was pretty shocked at that response for a pair of boots that cost £565!!!! I have had much cheaper boots & shoes that are far superior in finish. Absolutely gutted as I’ve wanted a pair of Trickers Stow for years.

Disappointing customer service
Bought online a pair of shoes size 7,5, too small (strange it is usually my size), sent back to Northampton but entered in the nightmare of custom duties.Bought size 8. You will laugh but the right shoe is too big the left is ok. Tried to get help, no way. Disappointing customer service for the price of the product.

Amazing shoes, abysmal repair service
Amazing shoes. Truly abysmal repair service. I have many pairs of Trickers boots and shoes (11 at the last count). I love them for their fit and comfort. Just as well I have so many pairs as their repair service is excrably poor. Rarely do they come back on time, occasionally with the correct repair. The latest experience I sent a pair of shoes fir new soles, heels and torn stitching on the brogue. Came back 8 weeks later - they forgot the stitching repair. Took them back in about 6-8 weeks ago. Not a sound from Trickers. Phoned the shop. „They must be at the factory sir“. And this at a premium product premium price company. Truly hopeless.

I ordered a pair of boots from the Tricker's website that were available in my size. A few days later I get a refund saying they are not the available and might have been sold multiple times. This is the second time this has happened with Tricker's but has never happened with any other company. Very amateurish. Looks like I'll be buying another pair of Cheaney's.

A quality British brand and well worth the investment.
Well, I own a smashing pair of Molton boots and I really think they are the finest country boots on the market but my experience with the brand runs deeper than that. I recently bought a pair of Bourton shoes as a gift but when they arrived I found that because of courier mis handling (I wasn't going to blame Trickers for one minute) the shoe box was damaged so I contacted customer services at Trickers if they could help and without question they obliged by sending me out a new shoe box to which I am very greatfull and because of that kind gesture I will be shouting the praises of Trickers for a long time to come. Highly recommended.

Consistently decent...
Consistently decent...I first fell in love with Trickers when I saw their multi-coloured brogues stocked by Duffer of St. George in the 90s, when Duffer was still in existence and still achingly cool (before the sell out to a high street sports chain)The Bourton brogues in cherry red, white, racing green and apple green were just awesome, but at £350 a pop (Now £420) they just wouldn't be attainable for me.Fast forward to now and whilst I shop a few times a year in the full priced online store, the outlet store is one of my little black book places to shop. I probably shouldn't say this for fear that the secret gets out.I shop there regularly and now own the Bourbon brogues in the cherry red, racing green and white that I always coveted (no apple green though)You'll have to sift through the sizes, but the outlet store is a little goldmine of one-off samples. I recently bought a pair correspondent shoes there for less than half price. On the same day they contacted me to advise that it has a scratch along one side and were checking to see if I still wanted it.A very small price consideration was applied (to cover the cost of a bit of acrylic leather paint to touch up the scratch) and I was able to correct the flaw myself.Very good place to shop. My one of my hidden gems.

My wife says I have a problem regarding…
My wife says I have a problem regarding the amount of shoes I own. She's probably correct. Trickers are only twenty miles from me so the factory shop is on hand. I found the bourton brogue to be a strong well made shoe but don't just assume your size. Try them on if you can, you'd be surprised at the sizing. I've used the re sole service which cost £150 last time if I remember correctly. Quality English brogues. I got my first pair in 1985 and they look as good now as they did back then. I had the leather sole replaced with the dainite version. Leather is nice but not really practical with UK weather. I used to attend the Christmas sales at the factory which used to be invite only. If you ever see trickers on eBay they are more often than not purchased in these sales at a fraction of the cost then re sold for more but you are still getting a good deal for less than RRP. If you want the full treatment then visit one of their shops where you can be sized correctly and try everything on but be prepared to pay £600 instead of £365!. Good luck
