Never again TurboTax
After years of loyalty to TurboTax, this will be my last year using their service — and it’s because of the same issue I’ve experienced for the past three years. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.Every single year, like clockwork, the emails and text messages start rolling in saying it’s time to file and that TurboTax is “ready.” This year, once again, I selected the option to have my 2025 tax refund directly deposited into Credit Karma — a bank owned by TurboTax’s parent company. It clearly stated that if you chose this option, you would receive an advance on your refund.My medical treatment is extremely expensive. Chemotherapy is not cheap, and the bills are piling up. I genuinely needed that advance.Here we are on February 23. I was accepted on February 1. The Internal Revenue Service typically processes returns within 21 days. Yet once again, TurboTax and Credit Karma failed to deliver. Not only did I not receive an advance, but they had me calling back and forth between them while each blamed the other. No one seemed to know what they were doing. The only thing they managed to accomplish was wasting hours of my time on the phone.To make matters worse, I usually pay $169 for their service. This year, they had the audacity to charge me $219.At this point, I want a full refund. I was misled, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told none were available. The lack of accountability, transparency, and basic customer service is staggering.I am beyond disappointed.

I purchased the online help for $60
I purchased the online help for $60. I called repeatedly, each time being told on screen the wait times ranging from 5 min to 23 min. I never received a call back. This happened over a multi day period. The other features of TurboTax seem ok, but I would not suggest this added feature.

It will permanently lock you into that decision, disabling any hope of changing your mind and choosing the download version.Why would you want to change your mind? Because the online version just sucks in too many ways to even enumerate. If you're brave, or feeling lucky, just try it and find out for yourself.

TurboTax claims to be great however they didn't know how to fix my rejected 2024 taxes they told me they couldn't do it. now I'm in trouble with the IRS and they won't help me out they are not the great company they claim to be I have hired them before now I can't even get a good answer why they can't redo my taxes and the 2025taxes and you cannot speak with anyone with Authority to change things .they've treated me very bad and will not respond. it's hard to even reach them now so be careful. they also claim free service but they try to gouge you for money all the time. go somewhere else is my suggestion. You will be much better off..

False and incomplete advertising: "TurboTax Free Edition is available only if you have a simple tax return, such as a basic Form 1040 with few additional forms. Eligibility requires that you didn't file with TurboTax last year and must file via the mobile app using the Do It Yourself product by February 28, 2026.and must file via the mobile app using the Do It Yourself product by February 28, 2026." NO MENTION OF NEW USERS IN ADVERTISING AND THEY KNEW I WAS 76 YEARS OLD AND FILING A SIMPLE FORM. STILL I WAS CHARGED $84 TOTAL FOR BOTH FEDERAL AND STATE.

HEADS UP -$4,000 loan was not transparent
HEADS UP -if you are choosing to pay for their services based off the "up to $4,000" advance loan -they are not being fully transparent with this loan! It didn't even give me a chance to do the loan before it finished my taxes and send it through! I'm so angry because that's why I chose to pay for their services. I did the research to see if I would be likely approved and although I hit every mark, it didn't even get mentioned as I was filing. I don't need to use them because I have a simple return and can file my own. But recently lost my employment and could've used the loan or went with H&R. I have never been turned down for one of these and I have good credit so In the event I got "denied" There was NO transparent place mentioning the loan or giving me the option for it, before completing them. And now that they are filed and IRS has accepted there is nothing they can do.

High cost and drama!
This used to be a reputable, easy, clean way to file taxes. Not anymore! First, I signed up for the $49 dollar plan for a little added protection. I ended up with a $217 dollar total bill! It then took me 6 hours to get my simple standard deduction taxes files due to multiple complications and glitches. They then sold my information and I am being spammed to death. Definitely not worth the cost and drama.

Well as I said yesterday everyone beware of turbotax. I'm on day two now and they're charging me even more than they did yesterday. I just got an email from them they talked on all kinds of stuff after they already submitted my taxes which I never gave them permission to do because I was not finished so now instead of free taxes it's over $100 so be very careful. I suggest you go somewhere else to do your taxes this site is no longer fair and trustworthy. And it's a shame because I've been using TurboTax for years never had this much trouble and now they're just rip off just like everybody else. Unless you don't need your money don't do your taxes here

100% ACCURACY GUARANTEE MY ASS!!
Looking to submit a RC4288 form for interest relief. I got re-assessed for 2023 with a 'amount owing.' For that year I paid Turbo Tax to do my taxes for me. They have a 100% accuracy guarantee, so I have tried to re-claim these funds from them to no avail, as they say 'I had to check their work,' which is ridiculous.. why did I pay them in the first place? Therefore I am asking for interest to be waived.. I will do my 2024 taxes with a company other than Turbo Tax and do a plus minus on the re-assessment from there. Thanks.

I pray that this company goes out of business so that more consumers like me don't have their time and/or money wasted. TurboTax is so incompetent that they don't know what a Schedule C is or how to report foreign income. Simply unbelievable. They couldn't do my taxes last night and after being on hold for 46 minutes, I told the guy that he either had to find somebody who could file the return or I would have to hire somebody else. I received an email from Turbo Tax today saying, "You decided that now is not the time to file your taxes so we're closing your file." NO! I didn't decide NOT to file, TURBO TAX DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FILE!!!I got hold of H&R Block and they knew what was going on and filed my taxes FOR LESS MONEY than TurboTax wanted. That beats all. TurboTax can't file a return but they want a small fortune to attempt to do so, I guess.But let me make this crystal clear: Money is not the issue. Incompetence is. The person manning the Help Desk at Turbo Tax didn't know the basics and COULDN'T FIND ANYBODY who knew the basics. So they turned my business away. Then it gets worse. I contacted Turbo Tax via chat this morning to report this and the customer service person there didn't care. She flat out said, "have a nice day" and disconnected the chat. So I phoned TurboTax and spoke to somebody in person and at least that person listened. I have some back taxes which need to be filed and I have future taxes coming up and all of this is thousands of dollars in fees that Turbo Tax sent sailing out the door because they don't have anybody at their Help Desk or anywhere in the company that knows the basics of tax filing. Other Income, Foreign Income, Donations, all kinds of things are very common but not to TurboTax. They are the epitome of what incompetence is. And the arrogant "screw you" attitude on top of it is the cherry on the sundae. This is a horrible company to try to do business with. I hope they go out of business.

Completing my taxes using this website went well. The IRS never got my e-file. TurboTax never sent my e-file to IRS. Do not trust any of these websites they are over ranned by scammers and hackers. Use the IRS.gov site instead.

One of the worst websites for tax preparation. Constantly bugging you to upgrade to premium support, just over and over and even though you choose no some kinda way they slip in charges. The site gets stuck in constant loops and you have to jump to some other sections just to break the loop. It's just the same questions over and over. You would think if you answered it one time and then moved on it would remember, but nope starts right back over and over I would never recommend this over priced worthless site to anyone. $209 to file a simple federal tax and 69 for state and. Stay away from this site and go elsewhere. Next year I'll surely go elsewhere. I've only attached the State invoice section to hide my identity.

I'm conflicted
Turbotax is fantastic! I honestly never had issues nor problems with them in the past. That was until this year, I witnessed the most baffling customer experience of my life. (and it wasn't even the customer service representatives fault) It started off with the fact that I forgot my password/no longer had access to the gmail, that was associated with set account. I simply asked for an alternative solution, to be able to have access to my account, since an error message occurred when following the steps to retrieve my account through their website. After about a few minutes/having to call back the number numerous times, I simply just accepted what was told of me, made a new account and quickly/effectively, got my taxes done on time. While the situation was remedied, this is one experience that I will never forget/doesn't make me feel too confident in turbotax anymore. While I will still use their services (when I can't get ahold of anybody to pay to do my taxes nor have the time to do them myself) I will be very cautious next time, to memorize/have my password written down/hidden in numerous places, so this doesn't occur again. Never have I ever felt so conflicted, disappointed and shocked at Turbotax.

For the 2024, they removed the return tracking on the top of the screen which is showing you the amount you owe or IRS ower you. The support is horrendous. The company has no provision for bug reporting. Calling a so called expert does not help because they are clueless about the technical detail of the program or the "tax experts" are calling you (per your request) while driving and can't hear you. Will move to the other software.

Terrible, I did my 2024 taxes and my return was accepted on 1/23/25 , I did the 5 days early federal refund and was charged $25 cool. well here it is 1/31/25 still nothing in my account. I called turbo tax the young lady informs me irs not accepting until 1/27 so 5 days after the 27th ok cool, i called turbo tax just to see if my return will be there in my account on 2/1/25 and she tells me no you do not have a credit karma account and i informed her when i signed up for the 5 days early refund it gave me 2 options credit karma or my personal bank account and i went with my bank account, So the representative says oohh really ok give me a minute, So she says now on her end it’s showing my return was rejected, I said no it was accepted, When i first did my return it was rejected on 1/21/25 and 1/22/25 because i needed the pin the irs giving out again smh so i got the pin from them and they accepted the return, She ask in she look at my screen to see what i see that it was accepted because it could be my computer or app she says , I said sure she says no log in from a computer for me , i do and she see what i sees and she says that’s wierd , it normally takes 21 days so 5 days before the 21 days will give you having your return in 16 days i said that’s not what i was told lol smh she said but ima let you go and ima bring this up to them that it’s showing rejected on turbo end. I said no you gonna connect me to someone now and they can fix it now not me hanging up trusting in you. Like yall took $25 for nothing i won’t be using turbo tax again and i advise you all not to as well . Train yall people better to know their work,

Simply terrible
I just had an abysmal experience with TurboTax. They told me I couldn’t change my payment method for their services, even though I called 5 days business days before it was due. The supervisor Patrick said this detail was in the contract I signed when I selected the method of payment - it wasn’t, and I walked thru the entire contract with him. After he said he also couldn’t see it, he hung up on me. Then I had to wait til the next day to call back.Their other “supervisor” who couldn’t do anything for me told me understands, but there’s nothing she can do. I’m not trying to get out of my payment, I’m trying to change the method of payment. Pretty simple. I’ve never used a service that processes a payment a full business week before it’s due. She references a bunch of emails I got, none of which stated I had a specific deadline to change my payment method. Then this supervisor, Melissa, said that there’s no link she knows of to leave a Google review. Weird, since there’s apparently hundreds of thousands of reviews on their website with over a 4.5 star rating. Also weird, since every other platform like Consumer Affairs & Trust Pilot are literally like a 1 star rating.Stay away from this company. Their customer service is horrible & their leadership team actually doesn’t know anything. Just take a few extra hours and file your taxes yourself, and save $300.
