This Company is a Scam

An absolutely terrible experience. Everything they said was a lie. I expected to have to pay more than the quote because that’s how moving seems to work but the surcharges I had to pay due to misinformation provided by them forced me to pay $1000 more than I should have. Awful company would recommend avoiding.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!They took $1000 deposit then tried to extort me for an additional $1800 more than quoted after all items were agreed upon and loaded in truck. When I didn't have the added money they threw all my belongings in the middle of the street in a snowstorm breaking both of my flat screen tvs and ruined my computer and stereo equiptment with water damage or breakage. They refused to refund any of the money and won't even answer phone or emails. So rude and mean and beyond unprofessional. Literal crooks.

CHEATERS

1st, I found out there is a US government site to file complaints about movers- FMCA.DOT.GOV (Department Of Transportation)I tried everything, including photos, to be sure I got a decent estimate. They were 4 days late and doubled the original estimate! When I wouldn't sign the new estimate, the truck (from a local company) left and I never got my $3,700 deposit back! Im a disabled senior on fixed income- that's a lot of money to me.

Nothing short of Extortion and Fraud.

We arranged to move from CA to NY with Indeed Moving and Storage (ICC MC number: 1513790 -- US D.O.T.: 4016506, incorporated in Hampton, NJ. The deal was brokered by Belmont Moving Company, (ICC MC number: 1263546 -- US D.O.T.: 3658042 ). In an effort to price gauge, Indeed Moving and Storage marked our small boxes as "medium" and our medium boxes as "large," bringing our items to 2,001 pounds (what was earlier estimated at 1700 pounds). They told us they would deliver our items on the 20th of June, but that day came and went. Then, they told us that our new delivery window was between the 23rd and the 26th. Today (the 26th), they called us to say that they will deliver tomorrow... but only if we pay them an addition $2000 for delivering to New York. They have known all along that we were moving to NY and never mentioned any kind of penalty, nor is it in our contract. My husband and I have no choice but to pay these extortioners, as they have all of our furniture and household goods held hostage. Again: they took the job knowing beforehand what conditions were involved, but are still demanding more money before they release our items. I realize that this case is insignificant compared to other complaints, but we have already paid these people $15,000, and they have committed these acts across state lines.Belmont is unreachable, and Indeed claims that their supervisor is on vacation.

DO NOT USE/TRUST BELMONT MOVING AND STORAGE

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! IT'S A SCAM!!! It's been almost 1 (one) year since we were suppose to receive our furniture and we never received anything! We paid Belmont Moving and Storage based out of Florida, who then subcontracted out to a company called, PT Vanlines (who we paid as well) out of Las Vegas to move our goods from Woodland Hills, CA to Maryland. It's been almost a year and we never received our goods! No one from either company would even reply to our inquiries so we're assuming everything is gone!

Untrustworthy Business

I hired Belmont to coordinate an interstate move. I am writing to express my disappointment with the services provided by Indeed Moving, the company Belmont sourced for this move. Both companies engage in questionabl practices, poor communication, and willingness to damage/lose customer goods. This experience has left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfiedI expect better from moving companies and of 4 moves in the past 4 years have never been met with such incompetence and lack of care. To date, no one has called to offer an apology for damaged and missing items. If you care for your belongings, avoid Belmomt Moving and Indeed Moving. Indeed, you will be sorry.

May be Low in $$, but They're lower in quality

This company was the lowest bid that came in for my move. I asked what I thought were the right questions, but they were vague in their answers. They did not disclose that they are only a broker for moving companies and that they would NOT be the company to complete my move. I asked about insurance on my property, and the person I worked with broadly said that I had $10k in coverage, so if I need more then I can. I had 2 items alone that totaled more than $10k, but everything else was very replaceable without much thought or work. (it was a very small move in real property). I didn't purchase more...come to find out AFTER the window closes for me to be able to purchase insurance, it is $0.60 per PARCEL up to the $10k in insurance. So The damage I DID get on my property....would have gotten me $1.20 in total coverage. The group was hard to work with and did not disclose the complete process. I am incredibly dissatisfied and do NOT recommend them.

Nightmare to deal with Belmont -bunch…

Nightmare to deal with Belmont -bunch of scammers, just want to collect advances with wrong estimates, they don't have facility or Transport services of their own - just brokers to collect Advances and trap customers till last for more and more payment. their estimates are not reliable and will change at the time of pick up may double also . We did a move from them from TX to CA and they are the worst people in this industry

Incorrect sales pitch/rude movers

signing up and taking the deposit was easy and quick. however, they use 3rd party movers... the guy on the call (Brian) was made aware of the estimated things to take and set us up for CUBIC SQ FT space. when the movers arrive (called night before) they were very unprofessional and there was a language barrier making the communication a bit challenging. I should add too that they were later then the provided estimated timing. the space we knew would not fit everything, but it would not even hold the itemized items on the bill of lading. the movers were rude and because they were told they would not get paid more money then agreed on they were upset with words being said they were told to leave. because we told them to leave due to the ignorance we forfeited our deposit. which is unprofessional. i understand it was in my contract as i was pointed out, but don't think Belmont movers understand that the movers they had come were not clear English speaking and wanted more money when asked to leave. now we have things in storage 2000 miles away and stuck. Belmont movers offered to have the same movers come back, and to charge more for more space. the issue again is the items listed on the bill of lading i signed would not even fit ... their sales pitch needs to be revised as this is not my profession i relied on the sales person to accommodate what i listed and expected him to meet what was listed at minimum. i believe we should have been compensated at least 1/2 of our deposit due to the incorrect informaiton from the sales person and the rude movers they assigned to us.

Bad bad bad....3 months and no sign of of our stuff, always say it is being loaded. Wonder if they lost it! Don't do it, worth it to pay more!

Our load was picked up in Vermont on September 10th. We have been waiting for 3 months in California. They say it is still in NJ. We are starting to doubt that.Never ever use them, not worth saving money to just not get the delivery. Every week they say it is being loaded....

Shady company - buyer beware!

I placed an inquiry online looking for quotes for a small move from ME to FL. I was inundated with calls from various companies. They all want to snag your business and get you to commit right away. I spoke with Russell from Belmont and I was told it just so happened there was a cancellation in their schedule for Nov 3-5 and if I committed right now, I could get a discounted price. The price he gave me was far better than others so I committed to them. I got my 'verification call' a day or so later and was told DOT quotes an average 6 to 10 day delivery time but it depends on their schedule and it doesn't always take that long. They have to tell you what DOT says. Got a call from the truck driver and dispatch on 11/1 asking if they could pick up on 11/2 instead. I wasn't entirely ready but we made it work. We had fewer boxes than was planned but we shipped a bed frame that wasn't quoted. Somehow we were over the quoted amount of space so the price increased by ~$500. Our items were enroute on 11/2. Based on the 6-10 day window we left on 11/4 and arrived on 11/6. I took a week off to be there to meet the truck. The truck driver texted my husband to say they expected to deliver on 11/9 or 10. I called and emailed multiple times to follow up on the load - crickets! I spoke with one person who assured me he'd call me back but never did. The second live person told me he'd call back and he did - to say he had spoken with someone and they would get back to him...he essentially didn't know anything! I was scheduled to leave to come back to ME on 11/15 - 13 days after the truck left - and that's the day our items arrived. Their communication through the process was non-existent. Since then, I've been called a liar! I was told they did not tell me 6 to 10 days but rather 6 to 21 days...if they'd told me 21 days was a possibility, I would not have agreed to do business with them. It would have been cheaper for us to rent a U-Haul and do it ourselves if we had to potentially wait 3 weeks. Shady business...stay far far away!

WORST COMPANY AND EXPERIENCE EVER!

If ai could give negative stars, I would! From the cost that was 4x what I was quoted, to the disappearing act of the subcontractor (Tacoma movers), to the changing stories of where my items were and when they would be delivered, to not being provided a copy of any of the paperwork beyond the initial binding contract, to the countless phone calls, emails, and texts that went unreturned, to the delivery at 9 p.m. in the dark, to the damaged items, to the 3.5 weeks of arguing it took to get a receipt, to the MANY items that were never delivered including a temperpedic bed, and the absolute zero remorse or interest or care in customers, this was the worst experience moving I have ever had. I am contacting the Attorney Generals in multiple states to file complaints against this company and their subcontracted company, Takoma Movers. I hope others do the same so we can stop them from doing the same thing over and over to others.

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!!!

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!!!! I hired them Back in August and it took over two months to have my things delivered, stuff was missing and broken!!!! They did nothing to help make the process easier nor did they offer any type of reimbursement. I was overcharged and scammed, the staff members were rude and very unhelpful. I ended up filing a police report to get the rest of my belongings. I hope they are shut down and never get another costumer again!!! I wish I could give 0 stars !!

Moved from Florida to Tennessee

Moved from Florida to Tennessee, called Belmont and got a quote. Everything sounded good, so we hired them. BIG mistake. They contracted out to, To the moon. They showed up, we had everything boxed up, mostly black plastic bins. No furniture as we sold all that with house. Right out of the gate raised the prices by over $1000. They know they got you because at this point your ready to move and it's too late to contact someone else. Our stuff packed in black bins wrapped up, still got broken. I can only imagine they threw it off the back of the truck. They quoted me storage at $150. a month. It went up to $200 and then when I requested my stuff they delayed my delivery until I owed another month. Steer clear of this company. I wish I had believed the reviews.

SCAM

SCAM - PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF HEADACHE, TIME AND MONEY. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH BELMONT. HAD I WISH I HAD READ MORE REVIEWS BEFORE ENGAGING WITH THEM. We contracted with Belmont mid September to move our belongings from Cambridge, MA to NYC. On 09/25/22, a moving company, Marshal Van Lines, subcontractor of Belmont, came to pick up our belongings. We had paid for already $1053 to Belmont, and even if we had listed every item, furniture and box that had to be moved to Belmont when contracting with them, Marshal and Belmont came up with additional fees. We ended up having to pay $2139. Also, they came up with "extra fees" such as "having to walk from the elevator to the unit" - which was about 20 ft, and "paying for every level" (we were at level 7 and we have 2 elevators in the building, so there wasn't any stairs implied), which they charged us for an extra +500$ cash that they didn't want to put on a receipt. At that point we were already thinking they were trying to make more money on our back, but all our stuff was already packed. 30 ++ days from then, WE ARE NOW 11/03/22, and despite having called Belmont and Marshal for weeks, WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR BELONGINGS. Belmont says we have to contact Marshal to set up appointment for delivery, yet Marshal doesn't answer any of our calls. We told Belmont we couldn't get ahold of Marshal, and they claim they can't do anything until we connect with them - they are completely washing their hands of it. Reading the reviews from previous customers, they knew, when we contracted with them, that other customers had never gotten their belongings, yet they still hired them for subcontracting our move. They are completely dismissing our attempts to reach out to them, they either hang up on us on the phone, yell at us that they "can't do anything about it" and that it is something we have to figure with Marshal, which we never got into contract with in the first place. We communicated with the police department and they say several claims have been filed for this company already. If you read this and have not yet received your belongings, I would like to gather all unsatisfied customers to see if there is anything we can do about it.

Move from hell

Move from hell. They hired to the moon services LLC who destroyed and ruined and lost everything. They are responsible for who they sub out the move which I didn’t get your name until almost that day. They were the worst movers ever they kept upping their price. They were throwing my stuff off the truck everything I own is damaged plus I’m missing many things and I have things that don’t belong to me. Never ever ever go through this company. They are passing me off from one person to the next I’m getting no satisfaction I’m ready to hire an attorney. Kathleen Neill

The World's Most Aggressive Salesman?

The moving service might be great, for all I know. I chose to avoid them. The salesman who contacted me was rude and belligerent - almost from "Hello". I have 3bdrms (for almost 9 years) but "Brian" wrote up the quote as "2 bdrms" (cheaper). I noticed the difference, but "Brian" didn't change the quote. Instead, he sounded upset and accused me of telling him the wrong information. I strongly believe this was intended to be a "bait-and-switch." I wrote to customer service to note my discomfort. Brian called back the next day to try to convince me I had spoken with someone else, but then read his notes from our conversation to me. His impression was that we had a "great" conversation and that his quote was half of my other quote from a competitor. He wrote that I suddenly hung up for some reason. Perhaps I thought his 50% discount sounded like a worse offer than the competitor. Belmont might be great, but this one guy is not doing them any favors. None of this had to happen.
