Avoid go to a privately owned vets
After watching and reading the over charging issues surrounding veterinary practices, I felt compelled to warn people of this practice and their spurious charges and care. Our dog had been very poorly and spent some weeks at QMVH in Potters Bar. He came home and developed breathing issues. His diagnosis was not clear from the vet and in the end we requested his euthanasia as he was in a very bad way. 5 hours care cost over £2k, the explanation was the oxygen cost and the intensive care cost at a £200 hourly rate. We were told a different lower cost over the phone (£750) and no higher cost was given. However when we saw the invoice the highest end of the charging scale was applied. Also the surgery wouldn’t release our dog’s ashes until the bill was paid. We challenged the cost but were told the bill was correct. The experience was awful, avoid this once good surgery, it’s now part of the big four and just wants your money.
